Hello. I would like to send you two video ideas. What do you think?
1-- a video that reviews the finger motions of the bow hand. Please show how the motion differs for the "colle" motion versus the "smooth bow change" motion.
Then name and show every bowstroke that belongs in each category of smooth vs colle (with a scale?).
2-- Discuss bow maintenance in regard to the previously mentioned bow strokes. Questions/Symptons of (and what to do about it): Bow hair too tight,
bow hair too loose,
too much rosin on the bow,
too little rosin on the bow,
bow stick has a sideways bend,
bow needs to be recambered,
bow is low quality and needs to be upgraded.
Thaks for your ideas. They are very good. Especially the fingermotion in the different bow strokes will be interesting. I will have to give some thought to the bow itself because things like how tight the bow hairs should be depends a lot on the bow itself. But it is an important topic. Thanks a lot for the inspiration! :)
You are always very inspiring! Just curious. What kind of strings do you use?
Thank you very much! I use Pirastro Oliv for G and D string, Evah Pirazzi Gold for A string and I'm currently trying out a Perpetual E string but I might go back to using 'No.1' E string.
I have a doubt, Vivien. I have problem of reaching the tip of the bow. Would you please give me some suggestion?
I know this problem, I have it too when I play left handed. Don't push yourself. Play as far as you can reach comfortably. With time you will be able to expand that bit by bit.
