The same guns and missiles you would use in a dogfight vs another fighter you can also use to attack ground targets. Certain ships would be better suited to deal with bombers (Hurricane) or other medium sized attackers and others better at dogfighting (Arrow). Common trait is short quantum and SCM range. The job is to intercept an attacker not to escort an attack force any distance. Medium fighters are the dogfighting escorts. I don't think it'll happen. In Lore the Gladius is on its way out of UEE Naval service, being replaced by the Arrow F7C MK2. Plus the Gladius is Gold Standard.
Wait I just realized does the F7A have the same fire power as a hurricane but for one pilot and a lighter more maneuverable class medium instead of heavy fighter. :o
So, it will lose more often than not to light and heavy fighters unless you outnumber them? It kind of sounds like it sucks. At the very least, it shouldn't lose it's firepower the moment the shields go down.
They could so easily put the shield numbers on the self status MFD screen to eliminate that useless shield MFD. The standard should obviously be 2 screens, self status and opponent status.
just a problem with one of your analogy, the F16 is not equivalent to a light fighter, it stopped being a light fighter long long ago in the same way the F/A-18 did, both of which were products of the lightweight fighter program, and both of which stopped being light fighters when their mass was drastically inflated from when they only had a gun and 2 ATA missiles during development and were pure ATA fighters when when they became multi-role fighters, which was the only way the USAF and USN would accept them into service, which did see drastic empty weight and MTOW increases and number of pylons and systems for their mixed ATG and ATA roles.
Good to see that CIG has again introduced a meta to increase sales. Wonder how this will be nerfed. Or will the Ares remain as the only mega nerfed ship? Really hoping to one day be able to change it into a heavy that has an interior like the vanguard, but I dislike everything about the vanguard series. I know you have spoken about how master modes will change the combat, but have you done a video trying to simulate how it will work? I think it could be a cool video to see how an SCM limited combat would work and how you would need to deactivate everything to go above SCM to reset the fight.
yeah i haven't watched a dogfight in a while, this was lame, just constant disengaging. Though i personally would have preferred some kind of snare instead of MM.

Well I'm about a month late, but better late than never. Thank you for the video. I recently started playing SC again after a 5ish month break. I'm not very good at dogfighting and piloting in general, but I love the way the MK2 looks. SO much sleeker than the Mk1. Ofc the game loops I maining do are PvE fps, some salvage, and some of the bounty missions. Still it's a very nice ship to fly. Also, you mention and compared the MK2 to the F-18. In your opinion, do we have something like the F 15 ingame yet?
Thanks for the expert showcase A1. Always a pleasure. What would you think of the ballistics? I've found recently that the cannons are extremely deadly. Leave the rhinos and have 4 Deadbolt III's. Thoughts?
The F7C MkII seems to perform oddly in atmosphere. I kind of feel it needs to be flown like a real aircraft in a gravity well. Do you have any thoughts on that?
It might have the new gravity meshing connected to it or it’s heavier because of all the guns. Maybe it was designed for the upcoming master modes. Just speculation
Not entirely sure as no one has been able to confirm or deny... Murder hornet may be dead after the next wipe, since the mk2 released i have not been able to move the m7a mk1 bubble turret onto the f7c. I cant even remove it from my ghost (which was outfitted prior to the mk2 release) and then out it back in. It appears as though the widened the base of the ball turret just enough to prevent it from connecting... The nose turret is still functional, so we do at least still get 4 s2 and 2 s3 for the mk1. And 4 s2 and 2 s4 for the mk2
I'd love a video actually showing you getting the f7a turret on. Like I said I haven't actually seen anyone getting it in. And I can't even get my ghost to take it back after removal
Why not use ballistics? The whole advantage to the size 4 is it has enough ammo capacity to actually fight. Also, the ship feels like a brick in atmosphere.
if you are talking about the AD4bs the velocity of the projectiles are too slow, you won't be able to hit anything in PVP that's why they use repeaters over cannons for PVP. The ballistic repeaters don't have enough ammo to win more than a fight and that's when you can hit all your shots which you wont be able to against good pilots.
I think ballistics are getting for ammo soon, I’ve never had issues landing ballistics and prefer them. However I’m not an amazing pilot and mostly fight not amazing pilots.
the avanger loadout: 2x S4 2x S3 2x S2 & 1x S1 Powerplant F7A MK II loadout: 2x S4 2x S3 2x S3 & 1x S2 Powerplant So the F7A MK II is still superior in firepower to the F7C MK II. But it looses 10% scm speed which i cant quantify
I feel like i am just waking up to how difficult the flight model is... You guys are circling one another at 200m going 500m/s..... So one wrong move and in half a second you crash or they push past you? 😅
At least until the nose up/down crap kicks in. And then it flies like absolute trash. The flight characteristics on the Mk2 are... incomplete... to be polite. I will be super interested to see how it shapes up in MM. Especially the F7A Mk2 with all that firepower. Of course, until we get maelstrom/armor and atmo control surfaces, balance will continue to be an evolution on temporary efforts.
Once its upgraded to the MK2 F7A and its then 4 s3s and 2S4s with a medium power plant behind them, there isn’t a lot that’s going to stand in its way.
I’m first cause I’m cool like that! F7C MK II is everything I dreamed it would be, I can’t wait to get some more time behind the stick on this ship. I obviously kept my MK I Ghost as well though, it’s my first love. 😅
i don't really get why they made another variant when the OG Hornet is in gold standard... could almost have been an upgrade token for MK1 civilian hornets, to be "Military". imo OG Super Hornets should have been a 2 person MK2 in the first place, with an upgrade for OG Hornet and no paywall variant, basically... really just comes off as a bit of a cash grab aimed at PvP meta-pilots and ship collectors sadly... i played a "free to play" shooter awhile back that started making $40USD MK1 and then MK2 weapon packages each month. as new players came in buying the newest/strongest, the older players got mad that the meta things they paid for weren't meta anymore and non-pay players were just target practice never being able to keep up to the monthly TTK reducers with in-game Exp. not to mention the really old players just got mad that TTK went from mistake forgiving to insta-death. died out for obvious reasons.
Wait a second, that's a murder hornet. How did you manage to have the turrets stick? I have one left over from the old mission but it won't save to the ship when I equip it. I agree it's beautiful to fly and to look at, except in atmosphere.
excelent showcase of new ship, what I'm confused is, will there be a place in squadron for MK1 or will it be completely replaced with this MK2, I was able to see role difference between F7C and F8C but this MK2 seems like a ship that made previews hornet+Superhornet obsolete or I'm missing something?
I like this ship for the way it handles, its responsive enough, the guns are great. I think this ship in the future will be The Best dog fighter you could want.....
A1, I'm just starting to get into pvp after years of being a cargo hauler. What my biggest question right now is actually on the choise of Lag Pip vs. Lead Pip. I saw in your recent interview with Space Tomato and Yogi, you had briefly expressed your absolute preference for Lag Pip and I see in your video that is in fact what you are using. Can you tell me why you make this choise? What the benits are? Pros and cons of each? To me, it seems, the Lead Pip is more "telling" of the targets movements. Wouldn't this be important information to have in combat? Honest question. Im absolutely not an expert on this 😅
I hope you get a better answer than this. Its just my limited experience in combat. Lead pip requires to focus more on an icon on your HUD. And offers better tracking of your target. Within limits. The lag pip requires you to focus on your target more. But once your target leaves your view out of the visual space (cockpit glass) its hard to put the pip on target. If you can get good enough to keep your target in view, than lag is a good way to go.
I'm currently feeling out the difference between the Hornet Mk2 and the Saber. I've never really liked light fighters, they feel too much like the little kids running around in CoD with a submachine gun after a hit of Adderall. I'm more of a lay a claymore, huck grenades and laugh while they sprint into a belt-fed machine-gun kind of guy. In other words, I'm old and don't have the patience for foolishness. So far, I really love the feel of the Mk2, but probably because it reminds me of the Saber. The Mk1 always felt like a brick with a big engine (F4 Phantom like), especially the Super Hornet. The Mk2 is what the Mk1 should have been from the start. And, I'm sorry, but the new "commercial" for the Mk2 sucks. It feels like it was made by an AI bot who never watched the first one.
Mk. II certainly is a sleeker ship. I am just kicking myself for missing the veteran charity event during one of the earlier years that had "F7A Body Kit" as the reward. It turns out my Hornet Wild Fire Mk. I is more expensive than Hornet Mk. II, so CCU is out of question 😅
I am not sold TBH. 15/18 shots available they look more like burst fire shots than sustained fire to put the opposition under pressure. One has to be a virtual sharp shooter to hit the target. Even the Gladius with less than half the fire power was able to put up a decent fight not to mention the F8. In any case the way things are progressing at CIG i doubt we have to wait very long for a new 'upgraded' version of the F8 that will prob be just a little bit better, available to purchase, in our never ending search for the meta...LOL. A great educational video as usual.
Missile payload flexibility IE can carry more or more types plus half or a third of the fuel burn rate are two things that come to mind Plus additional mfds meaning you can see more ship info.
It's cheaper to buy, cheaper to run, has a more flexible missile load out. Number of MFDs will be irrelevant once the context sensitive changes are in game.

Dude I really respect your stuff. Your prob the only reason I have kept the faith about this game. I backed it back in 2014, and well its been a long road. Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!
How did you get the f7a turret on it i couldnt get anything to work yesterday other than changing it out in the vehicle editor.

I'm glad they released it as a separate ship and not a replacement.
why ?! they let the mkI in a garbage state
The MK1 and MK2 were always meant to coexist. There is no garbage state just because a newer version is out. What exactly even is the garbage state, I'm pretty sure it was fine before this came out. @@aerouant7685

Looking forward to the MK II Gladius.

Balance is CIG’s passion lol
Maneuverability never was a concern with the hurricane because all it had to do was roll and point the turret at the target
Yes but its not as clean cut as that. Turrets have a huge advantage and those Hurricane turrets are deadly!
first video in my recommended and exactly what i wanted to see
The opening statement summed up my feelings on this ship. Im so happy
So, it will lose more often than not to light and heavy fighters unless you outnumber them? It kind of sounds like it sucks. At the very least, it shouldn't lose it's firepower the moment the shields go down.
Great now the fomo, to get one kicks in! As if cig 's marketing wasn't enough 😂
thank you for another outstanding combat analysis! looking forward to master modes. it's gonna totally change the game.
Yeah, when I hear light fighter I think F5.
huge hornet fan, and LOVE this ship. great video keep up the good work brotha o7!
You are a monster for putting that ugly nose turret on something so gorgeous! Great video.
looking forward to the Vanguard MKII with a size 6/7 gun or 4s3’s
F8C is still king!
Cant wait till the speeds are slowed with MM. Either one of you could disengage no issue.
yeah i haven't watched a dogfight in a while, this was lame, just constant disengaging. Though i personally would have preferred some kind of snare instead of MM.
@@moonashaLarger ships should have this feature to slow the enemy. I think that proximity detonation ammo against fighters will definitely slow them down.
Have you played MM? You’re stuck in a fight with no way to disengage unless you change your mode.
@@tylergood8235I know, now true skill will be rewarded. Learn how to fight or be destroyed.
@@tylergood8235Maybe now we will have a reason to bring a bigger fighter ship like the Redeemer. More of a Tank. We need more kinds of effecting the fights. Just like a WOW battleground, You get caught alone against 3 Players, You die probably.
I'm guessing your faction status will reduce the cost for your insurance to cover you. Maybe even a contract with shippers insurance.
CIG should just be an insurance company lol.
Bro is already Glazing it. If you listen closely at the end of every sentence you can hear him say "lisan al gaib"
How did A1 get the upgraded gun sized on the his MK II if moving turrets by hand is impossible now?
You need to keep both your hands above the desk when Streaming :P Share your load out in the Mil spec, please .
One major flaw with the MkII is that it only has two MFDs, compared to the MkI's four.
Do you prefer the F7A Mk2 or the F8C?
However I’m not an amazing pilot and mostly fight not amazing pilots.
the avanger loadout: 2x S4 2x S3 2x S2 & 1x S1 Powerplant
F7A MK II loadout: 2x S4 2x S3 2x S3 & 1x S2 Powerplant
So the F7A MK II is still superior in firepower to the F7C MK II. But it looses 10% scm speed which i cant quantify
But I'm talking max potential F7C MKII not the F7A, however yes you are correct 😉
@@Avenger__One then i missunderstood this. im sry ^^
Medium fighters could have small bombs to the different classes need signature weapons
I noticed the rhinos had 35 rounds with them alone and no other guns, wouldnt it be better to remove the 2 nose guns and go for just the size 3?
in my opinion, i think so. on my build now, i have about 36 for an all around build
Can also mix some ballistics in…
I feel like i am just waking up to how difficult the flight model is... You guys are circling one another at 200m going 500m/s..... So one wrong move and in half a second you crash or they push past you? 😅
can't wait to get the A upgrade already
Have you flown the MK II in atmo? Trying to fly this in Hurston atmo for example was a nightmare..
It's slower but more controlled than the MkI hornet
Only question is..... what do I melt? 😅
Wait a second, that's a murder hornet.
How did you manage to have the turrets stick? I have one left over from the old mission but it won't save to the ship when I equip it.
I agree it's beautiful to fly and to look at, except in atmosphere.
if you had ballistics instead of the rhinos the other weapons' would have more ammo and that F8 fight might have been very different
Agreed, I saw someone say it’s balanced because of the capacitor so I thought ok then add ballistics to counter an overdrained capacitor.
It wouldn’t have been different
Its Quality. Been Waiting for "the" Fighter .
I wanna see a 5v5 with something like 3 hornets + 2 arrows, or 3 arrows + 3 hornets.
How do you have two panthers and two badgers?

excelent showcase of new ship, what I'm confused is, will there be a place in squadron for MK1 or will it be completely replaced with this MK2, I was able to see role difference between F7C and F8C but this MK2 seems like a ship that made previews hornet+Superhornet obsolete or I'm missing something?
This dumb flight model is soon history ❤️

Going to miss this model.
I like this ship for the way it handles, its responsive enough, the guns are great. I think this ship in the future will be The Best dog fighter you could want.....
If the F8C had used ballistic/canons, it would be fun to see how long you would last until kaboom.
Same calculation, but your EYES are on the target not the pip
So if you have the f8c is this still worth it?
Yes. It's a heavy. Bigger shields.
how did u get the f7a nose hard point i cant put the guns on mine that u have
I'm currently feeling out the difference between the Hornet Mk2 and the Saber. It feels like it was made by an AI bot who never watched the first one.
how did he get 2 rhinos 2 panthers and 2 badgers on his mk2
@@CouchDoritos ah thanks

@@MMORPG87 I'd actually be far happier if they'd be duplicating the Mk. I lineup for the Mk. II as well.
I'm definitely excited to have a legit MK1 F7A and not a "body kit". I'm still getting the Mk2 F7A.
I can't wait to see how you like the F7A mkII, I'm hoping the size two power plant will help the capacitors a bit
Excess power have no effect on anything as long as it covers the power need.
@latjolajban81 Thanks for teaching me something new. At least it won't have any problems covering the 4 size 3s 🤣.
Do you think there is going to be any point in the Mk I hornet going forward?
Missile payload flexibility IE can carry more or more types plus half or a third of the fuel burn rate are two things that come to mind
Plus additional mfds meaning you can see more ship info.
It's cheaper to buy, cheaper to run, has a more flexible missile load out.
Number of MFDs will be irrelevant once the context sensitive changes are in game.
