- Elite has set a new height, even 10 years later... its still simply untouched. o7
With Update 18 and the destruction of the first Titan (Taranis), Elite is not only alive, but still pushing the envelope for a game of its kind. Frontier, you have outdone yourself.
I gotta get back into elite.
That’s what I was thinking 😅 I didn’t expect the war to get this big! I was more of an explorer but I would have totally taken part!
Fr. I remember running into one of those ships by chance waaaayy back…i was high asf n thought i was tripping out
Please teach me how to warp!
@@grindedfranz do you actually need help? Or is this a joke that went over my head.
@@braydenj03 nah im confused too
You know what would be fucking wack? If it turns out the titans weren't even warships.
lmao imagine just having some massive fucking tharg capital ship rock up, 10 times the size of anything we'd ever seen
From my understanding, they're not. They're more like a brain- or a neural network- for the Thargoids. That's why when Taranis fell, the Thargoids seemed to be lethargic, and in some cases passive for a while until they retreated from where Taranis was and regrouped with another Titan. Makes me think they became passive because they weren't getting orders until they moved back to another Titan.
fuuuuuck that
in the lore thargoid suppose to have ship of the size of a little moon , there corvette can have multiple ship and can build there ship . and thargoid are extra dimentional alien
I'm hoping it's a portal to witch-space

I'm personally not the biggest fan of Elite's format but I have to hand it to Frontier, they make some amazing moments that are unlike anything else in games so far. No other space game so far has captured the wonder-factor for me like Elite has, however momentarily.

Man… I wish I had the time to no life Elite like I did a decade ago. I have so many great memories of exploring the milky way back in the day with my friend, it just never holds up to the nostalgia anymore.
Damn dude, I just realized it's been a full decade since I started playing elite and no-lifed it. I sbstloved the memories I can still recall about the game. I've hopped on only a few times in the last few years, but damn it's still a beautiful game.

You know this game is in such a weird state, i feel like the game design is absolutely insane, the sound effects the ships yet it feels like the game has always ran out of possibilities, i managed to do everything in the game, maxed out every rank, maxed out my engineers and carrier and then i see this after years of not playing.
Yeah! I was ready with friends for this content years ago.
It really is odd. They waited until 90% or more of their playerbase lost interest in their stagnating game to release cool content. Such an odd decision.
Because instead of just focusing on their own thing, they tried to switch up and compete with Star Citizen. The game charging you to be able to land on planets, to be able to use space legs, all of it, is totally ridiculous- and it's all really poorly implemented.
@@ravenna6543 exactly. we're all watching it from youtube and thinking how the hell would I get back and be part of this
for me the game is good but the grind i horrible which is one of the reason i stopped playing ( i've been farming the guardian equipement for the targoid event but stopped near the end ( as i almost unlocked everything
Unfortunately, as with a lot of Elite gameplay, this all sounds way cooler on paper than in practice. Watching you discuss it is neat. Actually going around participating in the conflict, well that's just yet another grind that gradually moves a percentage bar that may eventually culminate in something very brief and neat.
This. Game has so many loops but the game feels more like it was made for raiders or null sec wormhole players from Eve Online. The game has not forgiving and it takes forever to accumulate anything.
You know what would make Elite amazing? Being able to WALK AROUND IN MY OWN DAMN SHIP.
Wow this was legit impressive! Thank you for hanging around for 6+ hours to capture the magic!
I wish the console version wasn't a dead end...
Same broo it’s BS they straight up abandoned it.
Is it really a dead end? I was hoping to try it but don't have the ability to get a PC to play it. Should I still try on console?
@@georgetaggart7714 it will no longer receive updates on console. You can still play with friends. It is a great game and still worth playing. But if you want new content, play it on PC.
@@georgetaggart7714No. Unless it's like 5 bucks don't waste your money. Space already feels dead in general but the console version ACTUALLY being dead doesn't help it. There's almost no fun to be had on console. Saying this as someone who's played on both console and pc. Even bought twin thrustmaster joysticks for the game and still didn't stick with it very long.
considering it sales all the time for like 7 bucks, its still 100% worth it.
If this war repeats over the course of a few months, ending in a few of these being destroyed at the end, it would attract a lot of players to the game.
i am still rooting for the total wipeout of the human race in that game. so that they can finally shut the servers down and let this heap of trash end.
What a spectacle! I wish I could have been there yesterday, but at least there are 7 more chances.
Hopefully the gameplay around the Titans will remain available in the future one way or another.
Great video! And wow I think you must be right! We should find materials in the debris field which will eventually lead us to Python Mk II. A renewed arms race against the Titans. This is very probable. o7
The results you get when the devs focus on story events and gameplay instead of pleasing investors or twitter audiences who dont even play.
You WHERE intended to watch it at this distance!

The little ✅ "Objective completed" always gets me man, it's like perfect comedic timing after you are left in awe of the explosion
Official cinematic trailers and whatnot would do this game a lot of justice not gonna lie, like some of the Star Citizen speeches and stuff. We need that in this game.
what you guys need is for the servers to go offline and this crap to be deleted.

The thargoid war has made AX far easier to get into. Upgrades to human ax multicannons and missiles, defending stations allowing you to land and repair whenever you need to, removing the material requirement for the caustic sinks and TG pulse neutralisers, etc.
You don't need fully G5 gear for anything anymore. I have a single size 6 G3 engineered drive module which i alternate between my (otherwise almost completely unengineered) AX ships which is more than enough to get >450m/s boost speed, and with a TV beam laser is literally all you need to attack titans or defend stations.
Give it a try, you'll definitely die a few times but its far easier than you think.
its not anymore. i did most of my participation in the war in a completely unengineered ship using guardian tech, and if you wanna see a titan explode, it happens 24 hours after defeat, when the anti guardian field is gone. so you can experience a lot of this stuff with out much grind at all.

It's too bad the developers stopped updating the console versions of elite dangerous. Would have loved to play this event.
100000% they should get odyssey on the current gen consoles imo
@indigointoblack they can but they can't be bothered
Dude! thanks for sharing your raw footage! so cool!! Epic! ... the silence during the explosion... GG!
I did make it to this, though I dropped in right after it detonated sadly. Still saw the debris and even tried entering it (don't do that) to no avail. I'm interested to see what we find within the field though!
This ALMOST tempts me to pick up Elite again.
this is what trust between developers and their players can give us. everybody wins.
although i would like to have vr support going forward. deploying weapons while in vr in the krait mk2 was something else.
Never Forget the Guard of Wakata Station (HIP 23716) and Humanities first major victory (Dec 2022). Proud to have served at both the Battle of Wakata Station and Malevelon Creek (Helldivers 2). And it was there when Taranis fell. I was well outside the cloud though.
When they stuck the middle finger up at console players they got it back
Thanks for sharing this. I would have loved to take part in the Thargoid war, but FDev switched off console support right when it started.
Really, I'd not heard. 😂
I remember playing elite a few years back and that the thargoids were just a theory because some explorers had spotted some weird stuff way deep into the milky way, so cool how they managed to evolve the thargoids over the years.
Well, I’m glad I left my ship out in open space in the middle of nowhere before I took a break from the game 😂
I was part of the first 1% of players to reach Colonia. Havent been back much since Odyssey came out. But thank you for this. Always a pleasure to dive back into the black space of Elite. o7
Wish there was more on xbox. I miss playing this.
Stopped playing a while a go.
Didn't realize they were doing stuff like this.
Time to dust off the joystick, i'm coming back.
Hahahah my asp explorer is somewhere in the middle of the milky way... Hahahhaha I don't even remember how to fly rofl.
Still wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle.
One-off events don't change the underlying reality.
you only dove puddle deep as far as im concerned.

It's just crappy grinding with boring social events. Incredibly shit niche.
@@A_Simple_Neurose It's a sandbox game. It's as deep as you want to dig. You don't just plop down in a sandbox and wait for the sand to entertain you.
@@johnterpack3940 I went to Betelgeuse to sandbox and there was literally nothing there. I want to enjoy elite but there is nothing to do for me. I was there when the 1st Titan blew up. Just amazing. FDev totally excelled in this one. ❤
Playing Elite II: Frontier on my Amiga is one of my all-time favourite gaming memories. I’ve not played Elite Dangerous but it’s wild to see how far the franchise has come!
Would you recommend it?
Been nearly a decade I think since I last played Elite. It had amazing graphics and sound… but god damn the progress with story and development was so glacial. They drove people away. Still, seeing things like this is cool.
I remember the first time these alien things were appearing, giving a cool jumpscare and emping the ship....man...
Was a console ED player back in the day before the separation. Last time I was paying attention was first contact years ago. Incredible stuff and honestly still one of my favorite games ever.
I've been actually harvesting materials from this ones grave recently!😂 That was super cool to see it explode in real time, thank you for sharing!
Pretty cool to see. I stopped playing years ago, after years of playing, because I felt I just didn't have the time to grind away anymore. I didn't even know a war was going on now. Kinda makes me nostalgic for back in those days as it was a lot of fun at the time.
this was historical moment of ED o7
I have never played, seen, or ever even heard of this game before. But goddamn that was epic.
I wish they would update elite on consoles😭😭
I got back into the game when the war started, then dropped out because of engineering, and they fix engineering just as the war ends.

I wish I could make myself fall in love with this game again.
if only they did this for the gnosis event, still mad about that like 6 years later
Holy crap, what if the had helldiver's 2 type monsters spawning on landable planets in those systems??!
Absolutely wild, been fighting bugs since 2016 when some of the first starports got hit, but I stopped after a little while and started playing the game regular. I picked up a lot of slack when Odyssey dropped and Salvation was being funded. Got to watch that whole thign happen in real time. But I stopped AX again after titans showed up on the scene. Honestly not hurrying to get the newest modules *required* to progress. Casual fun is the name of the game for me. Was a great thing to watch though, been slowly peeking my head back in after the titan destructions and whatnot. iirc as of now theres no titans left? 04/13/23 I havent been keeping tabs on much past friends and combat zones.
think theres still 6 titans left, only Taranis and Leigong have been destroyed so far (i could be wrong but theres surely still some left)
I grew up playing Tie Fighter and always wished I had time to get into Elite. I have no idea what just happened but that was amazing
You should explain that the Thargoid weren't even in the game at first. They were rumors and sightings, and then some players get abducted. The build up to them existing at all was gradual.
"Realtime war" - A realtime war would have been FD investing in some meaningful gameplay and mechanics to deliver an actual engaging experience. Envisage the Thargoid position being sort of a Powerplay faction, where you can then see the systems they're in, attacking, scouting, and where there are then tasks to affect this. Imagine those tasks being more engaging scouting, stealth, rescue and escort missions through asteriod fields. Imagine even CQC being incorporated into the main game where tasks place you in a CQC mission to defend/attack/escort against Thargoid scouts.
As it was, ED was little more than nice cut scenes and disjointed spawn gameplay.
the system you are describing is largely what is present in the game already. Alert systems are where thargoids are reportedly scouting, spire sites are logistics centers, you run evac missions out of burning stations, settlements and titans, etc. the thargoids pretty much work autonomously without fdev intervention , it is a totally dynamic system with each and every little thing you do mattering and actually contributing to the war effort.
I had zero clue ED had anything like this going on, that's absolutely insane. 7 more titans though! I might have to try learn this
please make an update i gotta see what happens next and im not far enough in elite to get there. Awesome vid bro
Man I've missed so much. I left elite many years ago when there were only the forst rumors of thargoids.
I'll return when I have a nice gaming PC that can handle VR. Elite on my quest headset is gonna be amazing!
i cant unhear swaggersouls
Ive heard this before and I still dont hear it lol
I was exploring at the time but one of my friends let me multicrew and take a fighter. it was fantastic.
Only a year? Feel like ive been away from elite for 4 years and i was in that war for a min.. i got tired of it and decided to go to colonia and start a new there. But nothing ever really ever was added out there so i started jumping back and that where im at, about half way back to bubble, floating in a random system in space for the last 3-4 years lol. Got some great pictures from my trip, so it was worth it. But daunting to return just to have to jump 276x to see a sign of life. O7 to anyone still playing
Truly a Destiny 2 could never moment
I felt more invested in this without any knowledge of the game, community, or events
Than I did the conclusion of a 10yr old saga I was part of for most of it
Your voice reminds me of Rick Dees from the 80s. "Rick Dees Weekly Top 40".
Great content my guy, keep at it. o7
Looks like it's time to have another bash at ED, my imp clip won't pimp itself.
The audio design... My Gosh
I wish I had another life which I can fully dedicate to games like Elite.
I have had the game for years and never played it, and thought this WHOLE time itbwas just a single player game. Had no idea all this sorta stuff happened in it! (I got it on super sale with plans to play it but other games just kept coming out)
that fov is nuts
This is so beautiful to watch - I wish I could put in the time to get involved; I would love to be a mamba fighter who takes out the smaller annoying targts
Made me think of the Orphans of Earth cover art from 20 years ago.
no fuckin way thargoids confirmed hostile?! man ive missed so much i got one interdiction when they first started getting active and never saw one again
hm, guess, I'll have a look again. Man...where did I park my python?
Subbed for ED vid. Gonna boot it back up again 👍
1 down, 7 to go. Plenty of time for Cmdrs to get in on the next one.
they could fix the games players leaving problem by making engineering 10x easier, make credits easier to get, extend jump ranges by 10-20 lightyears, cut the price of carriers in half
Bro, that was wicked! Update to this week and we just smoked Thor! I'm just getting into AX combat, but I can't bear the small ships, they feel flimsy to me as a Vette pilot.
Any chance you care to share your build?
Its a Corvette that basically is a Fuel scoop with Hull Reinforcements and Military Grade Composites all Engineered. Some Titan Bombing appropriate Hard Points / other tharg stuff. My current build has about 7k Hull. You can achieve something very similar in an Anaconda.
Funny how all this started because people kept shooting the Thargoids when they first showed up.
I gotta get back into this game.
Thanks for sharing this!
LOL There was A LOT I missed because FDev only places updates in one area of the galaxy and nothing for the rest of it. I haven't seen anything from update 15 onward. I guess that's the price you pay as an explorer.
pretty sure in one of the recent Unlocks they made like a one sentence mention of exploration, something along the line of more reasons to explore coming soon?
i tried so many times to get into this game, and this vid makes me wish i did. however my brain is too smooth, i can’t teach myself the mechanics so instead i’ll just sit and watch
its not smooth brain issue, its just the curve. its steep. very very brutal to new people. you are put in a situation where you are almost destined to fail a lot in the beginning. you will earn your wings and then some if you push through.
event is over, there is no point to start playing, cause if you dont grind 24/7 you just skip events like this.
Never understand what's happening in the ED vids, the UI is like always gitching out in every vid I thought it was a game bug lol, and people seem to randomly explode without anything firing on them? Yet when they are getting fired on they often' don't seem bothered by it. So confusing
I have no idea what this is or what just happened but I'm all for it, big boom
Ok but most people who would watch this know what elite dangerous is and have played it at least once 😅
Well I’m on ps4 legacy so at least I can watch this on RUclips and pretend I took part in it.
I dropped the game after 1000 hours about a year ago. Congrats to you all who stuck with it!
I miss this game so much. It broke my heart that they arnt publishing a version on Xbox series like they originally planned. I went hard in the 2nd thargoid war in support of OG Zachary Hudson.
i remember when the thargoids or whatever were still a scripter *at chance* event following a jump....
i was hoping that the dead(?) titan would drift and land on a planet then the fight will carry on on foot
Not sm weak explosion then call it a day
Imagine how cool it would’ve been if it goes like that and then you got ppl on foot fighting alongside SRVs and ships doing CAS
How would that even work? It would be dead, what would we be fighting over, and what would be defending it?
Also that's been done before at spire sites as well.
Seems the Thargoids need some democracy.
not to be off topic, but thats a golden voice my dude. you in radio?
eh- I fought a few thargoids in a tricked out vulture.
Then i stopped playing after they got rid of engineering and revamped the credit system and I lost all motiviation to play specifically because I was grinding for a month straight to get from the keelback to the vulture. Just for them to completely change the credit system and reward more credits per mission making that whole month of grinding feel like it was useless.
I hope they are not trying to catch up. I like my console games and I used to love Ellie Dangerous. I miss it alot😔
Been playing this for a few years now, stumbled upon this game by complete fluke, wish I had found it a lot sooner!
Honestly, I suck at the combat side of things but I love the fact that you're not limited to combat in terms of making money! I made the trip out to Colonia and Beagle Point scanning all systems a long the way, came back and made over $100 mil. Also went to see the Planet of Death near Colonia, I forget the name of the system, but the planet that orbits within the exclusion zone of a white dwarf!
I miss the days when the Thargoids wouldn't fuck your day up on-sight, so far I've only gotten to see the smaller ships. I've got the parts that let me counter their initial attack but they blow me up lol.
Still need to max out a bunch of stuff but have things like the Guardian FSD Booster. Now with Odyssey and being able to wander around different bases, it'll be awhile before I get bored of this game!
Man I really wanna get back into it but I dont think I could
I have tried getting into this game several times, and I always stop right after "docking and parking the ship" because that alone takes me like 30 minutes. If docking and parking take that long...no thanks!
