You can also place it by percentage as well, e.g. 50% would place the guide in the center (horizontal or Vertical). Just replace the unit of measurement (px) to either %, mm, cm, in.
can you get the little box back when placing a guide from the view window above? is the only option to change the location after placing it by draging it?
You can also move your guide into a rough position, then zoom in with the magnify tool and then easily drag the guide in 1/10th of a pixel increments. More steps, but viable depending on how you like to work.
hi iam having a serius problem in guidelines.. when i drag and drop the guideline its keep selected color is dark blue and when i click the canvace then only its desilect... can i overcome with that as same as the one you dragd and droped?
Yea, great quick explanation. Thanks. Didn't know about the alt-option. Is there an easy way to get a guideline at the exact center of an object (or canvas)?
+Mohammed Al Mamun I'm happy to have helped! Placing guides in an exact position is something I didn't know how to do until recently and it can be very helpful!
not really helpfull for me, so i have some vertically long rectangles and i need to place them with a certain spacing, in illustrator u can copy paste the guides as u please but i need to measure and place in ps??? isnt there some way to do this without wasting time on math??
Easier; If you need a grid (I work with 256*256): go to prefs-> guides & rulers, set guide to 256 (in my case), then view -> show -> grid. Voila! If your grid isn't starting at 0;0 grab the upper left corner square where your rulers join, drag it (2 lines will appear) to the upper left corner of your image.
For some unknown reason, when I drag the guideline over from the ruler, it is black and thin and it disappears over the canvas, or image and will not "lock" on the center. I don't know if I did something to cause this, but I don't know how to fix it. Can you help?
Hi all, help! What is the difference between Zero Point and Guides? And should we always set both? I have a project that's asking for 1/8" zero point, plus the guides at 5x5, I'm confused and when I asked I still didn't get a straight answer. Thank you for your video!
how do i force the crosshairs in 2019 to show "true" enter. When I place new guides at 50% vert and Horiz I see the center in exact position but the reference int no longer matches..... help please
CS6 - Quick question, what if I placed a guide but want to move it precisely to an exact spot? Is there a way edit that guide by opening up the box where you type in the location or is it just easier to create a new guide and delete the old one? Thanks

Percentage would be much easier to use I guess.

Nyc.. Thnku sir
how come I can't move mine around with the move tool?
go to "View>Lock Guides" and see if its checked. Uncheck it and you'll be able to move it around.
For some unknown reason, when I drag the guideline over from the ruler, it is black and thin and it disappears over the canvas, or image and will not "lock" on the center. I don't know if I did something to cause this, but I don't know how to fix it. Can you help?

Is it Possible to duplicate the guide lines in exact same length?
I hoped to learn how to place it precisely, relative to some point in my image, not relative to the margins.
CS6 - Quick question, what if I placed a guide but want to move it precisely to an exact spot? Is there a way edit that guide by opening up the box where you type in the location or is it just easier to create a new guide and delete the old one? Thanks
Easier to create new, or else I definitely would have showed that haha!
Thought so... I'm always looking for a short cut :) - thanks for the quick answer!

there is no such a thing as "new guide" in 2022. Its not available for my artboard. why?
Thanks mate
It baffles me that Photoshop STILL doesn't have a tool where you just click on a guide and you can type in the position.....
and there is new guide layout...below to the new guide rule...there you can add multiple guides with what ever distance you need
How do I place different guides on different layers?
I feel dumb for not knowing this. Thank you for pointing out these great tools!
One of those things where I was like... there has to be a way. Googled, figured it out, made the video. Haha
Brilliant
Yeeeees thanks
Ctrl+R - click and drag from edge
Thank you!!! I was about to throw my computer out the window.
thanks dad
He only showed a single way that didn't accommodate repeated regular spaced guides...
Cheers
Can't it do even spacing?
great information#technofunter
we are here for a guide tutorial, not a document set up.
Seems photoshop dev team doesn't think about user experience
