Sometimes a creator is so iconic in his field that new uploads after a long absence elicit strong nostalgia and warmth.
And which creators that? 😉 jokes aside, I know what you mean. I too can get that same sense from certain channels I’ve been watching for years
I’ve been waiting a long time for the return of the legend
Been back a few weeks now, maybe your feed is catching up as I’ve pushed out quite a few this past 2 weeks
I wish I could go back in time a re-experience those great memories and moments of my life once again. those were moments which unfortunately I didn't really appreciate as they deserved. nowadays, everyone has their face glued to a smartphone screen. the 90s were awesome!!
As they say, there was a time you stopped playing n64 with friends and didn’t even know it had ended at the time
I'm so glad you're in a position to be able to produce these videos for our pleasure. Thanks
So nice of you, I’ll be taking much of December away for the holidays so I’ll try and get as much out this month as I can manage to
4 vids in 9 days , you are spoiling us
Trying to wrap up finishing reviews by the end of January plus allowing time to take December off
This man is not only back, but back with a vengeance.
Like die hard, this is part 3 😂
Didn't play this one, but me and my mate Pete were amazed at how good the graphics were when we saw the previews in magazines. As for best N64 sports title... Nagano Winter Olympics '98 HANDS DOWN!!!!
Don’t trigger me 😂😂😂😂
Mario Tennis is the best "sports" game on the N64... I'll play you for it, but only if I can be Waluigi... and we play on grass 😅
@@TheJrr71 Is Waluigi the Mario Tennis equivalent of Oddjob on Goldeneye?
I was always partial to Ken Griffey juniors slugfest as my go-to baseball game on the 64, but I just happened to be obsessed with Major League Baseball during this time and I remember having this game too.
So many good or above average baseball games on n64 isn’t there
I am digging these daily videos.
Hoping Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 is coming up soon. I would love to hear Glenn’s opinion of it.
Only 10 or 11 to do so won’t be too long I don’t think
Being greeted with a RUclips review from Glenn feels reminiscent of the excitement of waking up on Christmas morning and discovering your beloved Nintendo 64 game thoughtfully wrapped beneath the tree.
I wouldn't quite go that far but I would say its comparable to opening your mailbox and not seeing any red letters haha
@@n64glennplant Your reviews have had an immense impact on the Nintendo 64 and gaming community, more than you can possibly imagine. Your insights and expertise are highly valued, and your words have the power to shape opinions and inspire others. Don't underestimate the significance of your voice and the difference you make. You are a true gem in the gaming world, and your contributions are priceless.
@@JamesNGames thanks James, you know I was just watching Karl jobst video exposing the completionist for the scummy charity stuff and it made me realise just how many dodgy people there are but at the same time reading the comments it shows there’s actually a really good side to the community. This channels always been quite a positive space and community so it’s nice to see that after all these years it’s still that way even as we’re all getting older
@@n64glennplant Over the years, RUclips and the gaming community have become incredibly toxic. That's why I decided to step away from it myself all over a year ago. I didn't want to be a part of that negativity anymore. But I realized that the toxic people had gotten to me, and I needed to move forward. That's why I've made it my mission to spread positivity throughout the community. Someone has to be the light giver instead of casting shadows. When content deserves praise, and the creators put in so much love, effort, and craftsmanship, it's important to acknowledge and appreciate that. Even though I may not create content or be active on the internet much anymore, I am dedicated to being the person who lets others know how good they are and how much they are appreciated.
HE IS BACK!!!
Like I never left 😁
@@n64glennplant Exactly!
I was always terrible at playing baseball in real life, don't think I would fare any better in the video game adaptations. However, this game looks relatively accessible with a reasonable learning curve. The graphics look pretty good too, I specially like the realistic 3-way shadows that the stadium lights cast on the baseball players!
Yeah the lighting is really some of the best for a sports title on the console
@@n64glennplant I'm guessing since the whole game takes place inside a stadium, it wasn't very taxing on the hardware. That's why the Pokemon in Pokemon Stadium looks so good and are faithful to the original designs.
@@Nutty151 yeah 💯, it’s perhaps one of the few sports which can push everything to players as there’s not a whole lot going on the screen at any given time
Wow Glenn I didn’t know you were going to spoil us with all these bangin videos upon your return. Christmas came early this year 🎄 🎅
Happy holidays! I’ll be taking much time off in December for obvious reasons so filling out the schedule as much as I can before then
As an American, I am discomfited that you know more about our National Game than I do. Also, it’s great to hear you get the plural of the word stadium correct where most don’t.
Hah I get enough people commenting about my pronunciation or speech pattern so having to make a conscious effort here 😅
Just like you, I ended up with this game for a reason I can't remember (perhaps at a flea market early 2000s). The game did leave a lasting impression on my brothers and I due to the absurd custom characters you could create, as well as the fact that once you got good enough with power hits you could basically smack dingers on command. There was one game I remember my brother playing where he was up like 112-0 on the cpu in the 2nd inning before getting bored lol.
The better experience with this game came from a year or two later when some jock traded us Super Smash Bros for it, what a deal that was. Come to think of it, this may have been the only sim baseball game we ever owned, and aside from Mario Superstar Baseball on the GC the only baseball game period. Didn't remember this was made by Iguana, they sure had an interesting run this era.
That’s the worst trade ever 😂😂😂
Best sport games on N64 are the International Super Star Soccer series from Konami hands down. In Latin America they were a massive success.
Here in Europe too….i absolutely love ISS as a series
you've been on a roll lately with the videos! Much appreciated 🙏
Glad you like them!
First thing I noticed was the graphics, pleasantly surprised given it's a sports title. Hope you had a nice weekend Glenn!
Thanks, you too! Exhausted but hanging in there
As a european i had no interest in baseball whatsoever, but i also remember being amazed by the graphics showed in the magazines at the time 😂
This game seemed so furtrustic to me at the time. Of course the last baseball game I had a good amount of time in was GameBoy's Baseball so that might not being saying much. I did have a ton of hours in All Star Baseball and absolutely loved it.
It’s like those memes you see where it’s like me in 1998 “graphics will never get any better than this” 😂
@@n64glennplant LOL, In all fairness the jump from 2D to 3D was huge and probably the biggest jump we'll ever see in our lifetimes.
I had NFL Quarterback98, same company, both had impressive graphics. They might actually be among the best looking games on the system.
I agree, acclaim did some fantastic graphics work on their sports titles
I played this a lot growing up. In 2010 I found my old N64 and took it to college. Me and my roommates played the crap out of this that whole year. It was such a blast. Terrific video and excellent job as always!
Nothing like playing sports games multiplayer especially if someone’s actually decent competition
I have been waiting literal years to see new vids after rewatching the old stuff. Dang i love the N64
The 4 videos uploaded this past 2 weeks should keep you busy 😃
My mom bought ASB2K for my 5th birthday. Hell, I even still have the Box & everything, even though the Box has seen better days. I had fun with it but it was too difficult for 5 year old me to aim the hitting cursor in time for the pitch. I have all 3 ASB titles for N64 & they are quality games. Along with Ken Griffey Jr.'s Slugfest & Konami's Japanese-Exclusive N64 Powerful Pro Yakkyu Series, I highly recommend the All-Star Baseball games!
5th birthday? Man that’s making me feel super old now gaha
Damn dude, you have really come out swinging these last few days. Pun intended.
That’s a good pun. I’m covering all bases with a range of review genres (pun also intended)
Man, I love to see new Glenn vids in my feed! Awesome. I'll be sure to check this out later today :) Awesome to see you back.
Thanks! I’ll keep pushing out content!
@@n64glennplant That's right, you'd better! :)
You're killing it man!👍As much as I've missed your reviews, the thought of it being over and done with saddens me. 😔
Wait till you see what project I have lined up afterwards! I’m going nowhere 😜
I'm amazed you can find new things to discuss with how many baseball games you've already reviewed.
One more to go then finished with them haha
You're knocking it out of the park with these N64 reviews. How about some homebrew/rom hack videos?
See the n64 beta project playlist on the channel 🤘
Baseball is not my thing but is always a pleasure hearing you reviewing games!!! I often go through the N64 Anthology you published and remember the magazines i was reading back in the days ❤
That was published by geeks line but I did the foreword but yeah I still enjoy dipping in for a read. I think their gameboy and virtua boy version just shipped too
I remember buying these too as just really enjoying games by Acclaim at the time
Yeah I always found them to be a great company on n64 for the most part
Cheers Glenn Plant, has been so long that we got your contente and recently we got many a video coming in. Please do keep it up.
So nice of you, more on the way!
HOLY SH*T he has graced us with his presence!
Haha I’ve been around for a few weeks now but even if you’re catching up I still appreciate you being here watching this fine Sunday evening
Glad to see you are uploading again. You keep uploading, I'll keep watching and giving you the likes :). I'm curious to see your review on Aidyn Chronicles.
That should be around in the next few months!
@@n64glennplant Sweet, can't wait!
You are back with vengeance! Loving to see all the new content =D
Thanks Ken!
I have never been a sports guy yet I did invest quite a number of hours in this as a kid.
Somehow it was fun to play and also, like Glenn mentions, it had a lot of customization so you could set it to your liking, something a lot of modern day games sadly lack.
Yeah when I was streaming the capture footage people were mentioning they were surprised it had a full draft option
This game was so awesome and I still play it today. Also not a baseball fan.. They were just really great games.
I went through a phase of liking baseball as a kid and this game was onee i rented a lot. Mainly for the arcade like you mentioned
Yeah for American sports I always preferred arcade style most of the time
Have all-star baseball 2000 on n64 emulator on my tablet. It's alright game but still all-Star baseball 99 is my all-star baseball game on nintendo 64.
Any reason you prefer 99?
I still love NFL Blitz 2001 as the best N64 sports game.
It’s a great title
Thanks for another great upload, Glenn! Love you brother!
My pleasure!
I've never played any of these back in the day. I don't think I ever saw them in Electronics Boutique. Sports games from that era were easy, pick up and play. Even if you had no interest in sports you more than likely enjoyed something from them.
Yeah these sim type sports games really need you to enjoy the sport to get the most out of them I feel
LET'S GO!
Happy you're back king ❤️
Thank you 🙇
That's an N64 game?!? Woo looks like an early PS2 game!! Stunning graphics!
Yeah I know it’s crazy right
This game takes me back!
Me too man, me too
Not into sports games all that much but I'll give this a shot.
Hope you get some enjoyment from it!
I'm getting old, I know I had a baseball game but it might have been a previous years release of this. Only played it occasionally.
Talking sports games on the N64 generally: I had an early Madden game (again no idea which year) that was good fun as multiplayer. Used to play a lot of Wayne Gretzky (year 🤷♂️) enjoyed that for the fights! A Kobe Bryant basketball game that was pretty cool. Of the more "realistic" sports titles, International Superstars of Soccer 98 was definitely the most played. For years, Konami had the edge over EA in football, in my opinion, as not just the passing, tackling and shooting were superior, but the players "felt" as though they were running around a pitch, as opposed to FIFA, where the players seemed to almost glide, as though they were an inch off the surface. Maybe that's just me.
My favourite N64 sports game... Mario Tennis. It looks like a Mario game, for the kids, but it is deceptively deep and as a multiplayer experience, I would put it on a par with Mario Kart.
Also, big shout out to Mario Golf, another title that is far more complex than it initially looks.
Ah man iss98 was peak Konami for me, anyone who says pro evo era Konami can take a hike! 🤣
Jeter on the cover? John Sterling doing play-by-play? As a proud Masshole I think I’m legally forbidden to own this game. As for best sports game, gotta be NBA Hangtime.
What’s a masshole? Genuine question, if that was a typo I don’t think you are 😜
@@n64glennplant Masshole: Someone who lives in the state of Massachusetts. Generally not big NY Yankees fans.
NFL Blitz for best sports game. I miss that series.
Very fun series indeed
My most played and enjoyed sports game on N64 was Griffey baseball but admittedly AS2000 was a better all round game.
I think they’re both great for different reasons
I enjoy a lot of video game versions of sports that I don't necessarily enjoy in real life. In video game form baseball, soccer, hockey, golf and tennis can be loads of fun - especially the Mario versions of those sports. I love football and NBA video games, as well, but I also enjoy watching those two sports. I've enjoyed sports games ever since I 1st played Baseball, Ice Hockey, Golf and Tecmo Bowl on the NES. The N64 and Gamecube made it even more fun where you could play 4 players without the use of a 3rd party add-on. 4 player Mario Tennis was always a lot of fun.
My first sports game I fell in love with was Mario Lemieux ice hockey on genesis!
Another video from Glenn? Hell yeah let's do this.
Inching closer to the complete set of reviews!
@@n64glennplant very nice. Keep up the amazing work.
Catching up, Glenn!
You keep tuning in and I’ll keep pushing the uploads on the way 🔥
@@n64glennplant🤜💥🤛
I not a baseball fan but, I might give this one a try.
You never know - you may like it!
Glenn is unstopable now :O :D Yeahhh :D
For November yeah, when it comes otime Christmas and December in generally I’ll be taking a step back for a short break
@@n64glennplant just do it! Even if I have to wait for a new video I'm glad you're back😃😃
holy hell he's back!
Been back 2 weeks no mister! 😁
Feels like Christmas has come early this last week or so with the multiple reviews!
I know!! Just have a window of time to get stuff uploaded before I take a break over Xmas and early new year
Hmmm, My most played sports game on N64 is likely NHL 99.
But overall, it has to be said that N64 has better line-up on quantity of the great quality sports titles, than DC or even PSX.
Yeah the DC got screwed with sports titles sadly
sometimes I feel like the only Brit who's into baseball. Yet I couldn't afford the ticket to Wembley haha. For me, the best baseball game was, and still is, on the original Wii Sports (albeit only 3 innings)
Ha I liked Wii sports golf the most I used to play with my dad
@@n64glennplant Golf's the only one i never got the hang of!
This is the only baseball game game I have ever purchased since even all these years later I have never enjoyed the thought of them and once tried watching baseball on TV and was never interested long enough to watch until the end.
That being said while I likes how the game looked and he overall presentation of the game I would get bored after one game as I just didn't get much enjoyment from it.
Acclaim sports titles and games in general always did look great though and compared to many sports games they at least looked like they were a generation ahead but I always felt they would take a hit in performance and just generally not playing well as a result.
Yeah acclaim were much better overall than say Konami with their sports titles
@@n64glennplantKomani's Japan baseball games were apparently pretty fun but their basketball and Ice Hockey games weren't as good as other offering and they had that typical Konami low resolution and simple texture look the majority of their games went for at the time.
Sometimes i wonder if Acclaim would still be around today if they hadn’t made so many horrible N64 games.
I miss them, it was the poor GameCube sales of their titles that really put them under
Is this a re-upload, Glenn? I only ask because I thought you did this game already?
No. There is a review of "All Star Baseball 99" from 8 years ago, and another of "Triple Play 2000" from 1 year ago, but there was no review of this game on the channel.
@@backup_account_1 thanks.
New upload 💪🏼
Since 40 winks got an official release from piko would you considered making a review of the game?
Did that years ago as an n64 beta project episode. The game was finished but never released, piko didn’t do any work to it so the episode I did of the n64 beta project years ago covers everything I want to say about the game
@@n64glennplantI did hear very little glitches got fixed. But yeah hopefully glover 2 and dragon sword gets finished at some point
@@TheSupersmash97 they’re much more incomplete builds and to be honest as much as I want them to arrive I sincerely doubt we’re ever going to see them finished and released. There’s a small pool of people talented enough developing in n64 and they’re seeing much more success doing their own projects
They only ported PAL into NTSC. That toke ages. I could do that on an hour. I'm not saying that there should not be new releases, of course there should! But Kickstarter for nothing is no good.
i have all star baseball 2001 the cart is red
It has the better graphics on the N64.
Colour carts ftw
Is this better than Ken Griffey Jr?
Nah, this is good, but Ken Griffey Jr Slugfest is much better.
Glad someone gave you their view as a baseball fan and someone who knows better
How many games you have left to review?
Probably less than 10 now I’ve lost track but it’s around that figure
@@n64glennplantthe collection is almost complete
@@TheSupersmash97 I have a much more enjoyable project lined up but we’ve come this far so want to get the full western released up on the Channel before I start the next bigger project
