    You guys nailed it, we travel full-time, our rig is a 2022 Toyota Tacoma pulling a 2021 17 foot Casita trailer. so far we haven't broken anything, but I'm sure it's going to happen. But we generally stay the full 14 day limit in a spot and then only move about 30 miles to the next spot, so were only moving 3 times a month. We boon dock a lot, but we shy away from traveling down a winding, bumpy, dirt road to find that perfect campsite. That's how rigs get tore up. We like camping in state and national parks the most.....

    • @liferedesigned
      @liferedesigned  7 месяцев назад +1

      smart moves - we try to keep our rig off those roads as well. 😀

    Tens years ago I was quite rabid in my enthusiasm about the RV life. Heck, I was just retiring then from 45 years in my chosen profession. Here I am now after an inordinate amount of due diligence, thanking my lucky stars & carrying on with the "research" that was so much a part of my working days. Never was one for taking Faith Leaps perhaps. My "deer in the headlights" approach to the "which rig" question led me to the Oliver Trailers website. It was was then that I realized that beautiful build quality was paramount to me- -- - - and that I could not afford my idea of RVing (or that it was bogus). I wish you two the best of roads to travel in your one time only journey. Best wishes. Richard in ATL.

    Most RV’s are poorly constructed. It’s a box full of aftermarket parts that are not engineered to work together sometimes. I owned an RV dealership for 18 years and I can say that you are beating the service odds mostly because you made a great choice in coach. You have a legacy factory unit in Winnebago. They still have engineering department with longevity of design and they have proven quality controls in the factory runs. Many do not. Believe me, the bad units that came through my service shop has increasingly become worse and worse. It can be disturbing.

    I'm one of thoses who cannot be an RVer. I have traveled 92 to 98% of my time for 22 years while working. But now at 79 I (1) Don't have any desire to travel that much, (2) I have seen so much of the world and had a great time doing it. So now I enjoy watching you Rv'ers doing your thing. But have absolutely no desire to do the amount of travel that I did at earlier in my life. And like you I know that travel has its wonderful times and not some wonderful times, that's called living life! 😮

    Me and my girl have a homebuilt campervan. Winter months it's about -30°c so we only use it part time. But, we're lucky to live in a sparsly populated country where it's your legal right to camp where ever you want. No need for RV grounds/paying. We never pay and camp at beautiful places always completely alone. That is what camping is to us. Drama is not our thing. And yeah, we don't film anything. We wouldnt have the time for it. 😂

Me and my husband are both in finance and we have a small 1300 square-foot house and three kids…. we are thinking about selling everything and getting a fifth wheel or toy hauler… After our third baby we realized that in order for me to stay at home mom… That the renovation we did on our house & buying my antique car… made it unaffordable. The way things are in this economy… Makes you take a second look at everything

    Everything always breaks: While we did have some things break since buying our new rig in March, but most of them were easily fixed by my husband. If you drag your sticks and bricks down the road, you’ll have just as many things break. That’s life! I wouldn’t trade our rig, even after some things broke. Besides my husband loves to fix things. He feels such a sense of accomplishment repairing things and keeping us out of the repair bays at RV dealers. We live full-time in our rig. Great video!

    I’ve watched ALOT of “RV Life” videos in the last few months. The one thing I’m sick of is the click-baity negative titles on a few channels….I even called out one of them a couple times for this. The other thing is turning a video into an advertisement for some item….PASS!

    • @SteelHorseNomads
      @SteelHorseNomads 10 месяцев назад +2

      Interesting info. Each video has the option for multiple titles and thumbnails. I called out a RUclips RV’er and found out he does two titles, one that is negative and one that is positive. Apparently the algorithm apparently prioritizes showing the title that is getting the most views and that is typically apparently the negative title 99% of the time.

    Great video, 40 years of rv experience, have owned B class, C class, A class, Pop up camper, travel trailer and now a 5th Wheel, we do extensive travelling and in all that time we have had a torn awning, electric tongue jack fail, one trailer wheel bearing and a truck serpentine belt, we do most of our own work and maintainance is a big thing with us. We are not full timers by any means, but have had a few things go wrong with our travel trailer over the 5 years we have owned it. 2 AC's have gone out and panel to convert fridge to electric went out. Fortunately we have the Warranty Forever from our dealer and they were covered. We have a reoccurring water leak on kitchen hot water. My husband has to check it frequently and keep tightened. We keep a pan under it in case it drips.

    I like traveling but also like the feeling of "home", not the nomadic road! I know people (especially now with this pet craze) like pets with them. I once delivered a pet dog and in the 800 miles I found out that I'm more free without animals! You also have to keep them clean and free of fleas because they can stink up your enclosure...FAST.

      For some of us that families used and stole from because never got a fight.., I “raised” and taught ethics to many children, never mine, and never charged a penny. Stolen from from family and used. I have a little dog and bird. I would die for them.

    We are not full timers but have been snow birding in Fla. We stay for 3 months. We have noticed that some RV parks have people that have been coming there for years. We tried going to some of the "activities" that the park has and We have found that people are very clicky. First time watcher and new subscriber. Absolutely think you are spot on except, except things always breaking. I would strongly disagree. We did all our research, asked all the questions and had a third party inspection and we never made it to our first destination without major problems. Not little stuff. 6 weeks on a Cummins emission repair ( their issue) to water pumps to all three air conditioners taking their turn to break, in this Texas Heat wave. After more repairs we are about to head out on yet another test run. Maybe the thought should be things might not break like people say but budget in a good safety nest for the unexpected breakage. I fortunately have some background and tools that I at least am able to save on the labor. Don’t get me wrong , loved the video and if we ever cross paths can share some stories along these lines. Safe travels !

      When you have been on the road longer than one year you may have a different perspective on things breaking! One of my favorite bits of advice for newbies is that someone better be "handy"! In our almost 6 years of full-time living we have met actual people (not RUclipsrs) who have spent months in alternate accomodations while their rig is in repair shop. Especially while COVID was making parts hard to get.

    Regarding #2, you guys are new to this lifestyle, right? Only been full-time since 2022 - give it time - stuff does break. I am not a YT creator, and I have what was considered one of the best brand RVs out there. It's well made, but stuff happens. I could write a small book on all the trauma/drama stuff that went wrong with my RV in the first six months. Starting with something under the hood catching on fire and a blowout while driving down the road at 60-65 miles an hour & that was within the first month alone! 😣😨

    • @liferedesigned
      @liferedesigned  Год назад +1

      We are not disputing that stuff breaks - while we have been full time for a year - we are not new to RV’s.
      What we are disputing is that things to not break at the frequency that RUclipsrs portray them to be.

    Glamping Gratefully and all, you are right about property taxes. I am going to sell next year and get out from under this obligation. I am moving from a big house and lots of property into a Park Model/Destination Trailer Cedar Creek Cottage 40CFK2 (front kitchen) with all the bells and whistles, that is being set up right next to my son's home on a 40x40 foot concrete slab. I bought it with cash in my kids' name so they are the owners as it is on their property.
    You are also right about NOT EVERYBODY can do this. I did my traveling when I was younger, and my last trip to Wyoming was this time last year before my husband recently died of acute heart failure. I am 80 years old.
    So, I am watching you because learning to live in a small space is still going to be a challenge. I thought you'd like to know that your honesty and tips also help those of us in the last phase of life learn new things and have vicarious enjoyment from what you are doing. So keep up the good work and know that you don't have to have flashy titles to keep my interest.
    Enjoy this time of your life, your adventures, and that you have each other to share them with.

      Yes, living in a small space is different and will take some getting used to, but it is funny to think about all the things you thought you needed living in a house vs a “tiny home”. Shopping is so much easier now…can’t impulse buy anymore! 😀

      @@liferedesigned I am finally consolidating. Going to be using an Instant Pot/Air Fryer and a Dual Air Fryer rather than all of the cooking equipment that I use now. I think weeding out kitchen gadgets is the hardest as I do like to cook. OH, well, my kids' house is 3500 sq. ft. so if I "impulse buy" it is something for them.

    • @liferedesigned
      @liferedesigned  Год назад +1

    The lie is fortunes can be made on YT. RV life can be good, fun and rewarding. Working on the road, producing videos is not the lifestyle for us. We film stuff but we have no idea or time to spend editing or producing. We're retired, living in Mexico, it's been fun being on the road living large in a small home.

    Thank you both! Please be non sponsored, non fake. It means so much to us contemplating this life. The RUclips titles for shock and gain that are misleading are egregious. Stupid people will do stupid things. You are lending the critical eye. If you start getting funded for “commercials” and free gifts, we will be out. Two professionals, one college educated that does not understand the lack of critical thinking. Thank you both.

      Taking sponsorships is not the problem with RUclips - it is the ones that lie about the products capabilities are.
      Without sponsorships being in the equation- you would not have content creators as nobody is going to put in the effort for free. Every content creator deserves to be compensated in some form or another.
      Integrity and honesty can be at the forefront of a successful product sponsorship.

    I get so tired of the "DRAMA" channels click bait thumb nails that it's not even funny. There are some channels that say they have stuff go wrong so often that I would be off the road if it was really that way. We have been on the road close to 11 years and have maybe seen 3 or 4 people argue I guess, maybe we are just lucky. I sometime think we need more drama so we can be seen but our channel is really for information to others and we really have very little drama. And hey, we put on a number of miles per year and glamp wherever we can and share it but not for the views obviously, it's because thats really the way we have attacked our fulltime lifestyle and we enjoy it that way. Some comments are pretty generalized.

    RV’s are fun but I don’t think they’re designed or even built to be lived in full time. Kudos to those that do, but it seems like a giant yet cramped up PITA. I’d rather just roll whenever I want-as designed, as a little vacation/adventure. Most full timers it’s just a season in their life but to each their own and hope we all enjoy however we camp!!!

    • @liferedesigned
      @liferedesigned  Год назад +2

      Over 1 million people live a full time Rv life. As with anything, build quality can vary greatly depending on how much you spend. We planned accordingly.
      As for being cramped - millions of acres out there - We actually spend very little time locked inside - that is what this lifestyle is all about.

      @@liferedesigned I’m still going with season for most. I think I have some gypsie blood in me myself but I was born and raised camping and traveling in tents, then pop ups, TT’s, and motor homes.. What’s that? I shouldn’t “full time” in a broken down 1 year old Thor pro master van with my family of 3 and 2 cats for a full year #vanlife and call it a lifestyle!!??? But think of the clicks and views! 😆
