It was a pity there wasn't a better footage that we lost Rico's blowout and him being overtaken by Youri and Clement... But omg Nico Mann, it looks like he is the real deal!

Good job as usual Travis, and this time I was there!
I know the place inside out as I live in the area…
Your highlights enabled me to see the race as I missed all the pro action by being in the 9th wave (out of 11).
The rain spoiled a bit of the party and today is perfect sunny again 👍

Great seeing Youri back on track getting good results, was worried for a bit after the T100 exertion

Do you think Yuri is where a separate aero base layer like we see in cycling or it it just white tips to his sleeves. Can see it at 6:45

I would guess not. I think its just white tips. Good luck in Swansea Ben!

5:00 - Cam Wurf wasn’t ‘struggling’ on the run - he’s just not that fast! In fact this was was a PB for him over the middle distance (not just in terms of the ‘official’ 70.3s he’s done before but the various challenge races and odd distance races like Cannes) in terms of run pace - he’s NEVER run a 1:17 half marathon, so he will be well pleased with that (especially given the 2 x 700M soft sand run sections), as he will with being only 1:41 out of the water back from the fastest triathlete swimmer in the sport right now. It’s actually the bike that needs a bit of specific work - he is lacking that ‘punch’ at the top end required to bridge up like Sam, Trevor and Lionel has over the middle distance (and Rasmus - who strangely DNFed yesterday after catching the Wurf-Gustav bunch by half way). In short cam is a deisel, and he needs to find a supercharger for sustained surges over the middle distance to be truly competitive.
It is worth noting that Cam was only released by the team to race triathlons again on Monday this week once they made their final TDF selections - which explains why he entered but didnt race 70.3 St George and 70.3 Boulder even though he was in the country at the time of both races. It also explains why he didnt even race Mount Tremblant last weekend as well.
I think the good races he put together in 70.3 Tasmania and yesterday are good signs for his upcoming Ironman campaign over the next 4 months over the full distance however.
i think Ironman Vittoria in 2 weeks is going to be very interesting for Cam - he is clearly at the next level on the swim and run from where he was in 2022 when he finished 2nd. Even though he may be lacking that punch alla Sam Long to surge and bridge on the bike, in 2022 he still put down a 4;01 bike spit and I’d say he still at that level - or better now (he put out 350 watts for 4 hours single handedly dragging the peloton back to the breakaway at Amstel Gold back in April, and I reckon he’d be close to that form now (given that the team wanted him primed as a super domestique for the TDF if required)…
Of course, sam Laidlow could just come out and blow everyone - including Cam - into the weeds at Vittoria, lol.

A bit too much hyperbole in this one. Triathlon suffers from too many people starting a bandwagon after the slightest hint of good performance, and somehow that wagon follows an athlete all their life.
