Congrats on the sponsor 🤍 thank you for always delivering quality content!
Thank you!
and you entered that sponsership segment so well, i didn't know it was an ad until you said the word surfshark. Very good scriptwriting, however, not disclosing advertisments is a crime in the US and most other countries.
You actually can get a computer, the farm computer from demetrius, so it is theoretically possible for the player to file their Taxes… but if you dump a crab into the Pond in calico desert… that’s considered introducing an invasive species.
sell box has the taxes with it
@@ryansullivan9217mate
Thats profit margin
Not tax
Your crime sprees in Stardew Valley will forever be iconic, Salmence; they have the same energy of Mrs. Puff's nightmare of Spongebob casually running over people and causing destruction, if he were to get his driver's license😂
LMAO I love the visual!
List of all suggested crimes in this comment section: (I will be updating this as more comments come)
1.Introduction of an invasive species by putting a crab in the pond in the dessert
2. Child Abandonment by divorcing your spouse and leaving the children on the farm while you live at Ginger Island

4. Cheating and Swindling by using the Stardew predictor to win every time in Calico Jack
5. Some sort of fire regulation break by using too many cookout kits/torches
6. Not giving half of your possessions to your spouse when you divorce

8 Terrorism by putting a bomb in town
9. Attempted murder using the same method as above
10. Mass murder by killing shadow creatures, Krobus shows us that they are sentient,
11. Feeding of bears by giving the bear maple syrup, and the trash bear dishes.
12.Keeping significant historical artifacts,
13. Selling fossils
14. Keeping a fish pond without a license
15. Money laundering through Pierre and changing professions
16. Selling foraged goods without a license
16. Breaking and entering or something for using the Key to the Town
17. Sale of an endangered species (Legendary Fish)
18. Driving while blindfolded (wear one of the masks or the eyepatch they don’t look like they have very good eye holes)
19. Put a couch on your porch.
20. Park a horse in the street without paying.
21. Marry and divorce a male spouse four times (as a woman)
22. Wear the tube top (or any sleeveless top) in a public park (community center probably counts)
23. Put a chair down and sit on a sidewalk
24. Pick up seaweed from the beach
25. Sell a blue chicken
26.Wear any hat to the theatre
27.Keeping any of the items for any of the quests the villagers send you for lost items is stealing
Examples: Robins lost axe, Lewis's shorts, or Linus's basket
28.For Sebastian's 14 Heart-Event you get a frog which is theft of wild animals
29. Dropping the radioactive bar in the river is probally a more serious crime, ectoterrism and or posining the town’s water supply
30. Building without a permit, build the resort kn Ginger Island.
31.You can do poisining if you put a pufferfish in the Luau.
32. Owning an unvaccinated pet
33. Owning a pet without a licence or regestration
34.Not reporting vertebre
35. No licence for selling too many foragables.
36. Something to do with explosive ammo?
37. Animal abuse, leaving animals outside, improper fish tank conditions.
The Qi's Extended Family quest has children of the legendary fish, with the exceptions of the angler fish (which wouldn't be extinct) and the Mutant Carp, which is most likely not recognized as its own species, and if it was, there would probably be more of them. The extended family quest fish can be caught indefinitely, unlike the normal legendary fish having a cap of one of each.
I dunno what crimes specifically but we do not treat our horse well at all
You can put a crab in the pond in the desert?
@@pichufan0314 yeah, just drop it out of your inventory, like he did with the radioactive bar in this video.
@@I.No. Thanks!
Still putting it out their, "handling salmon suspiciously" is in fact a crime(in Britain) and fish is held above are heads in this game I'd argue that's suspicious. Also this is THE BEST STARDEW SERIES!!!
Also in Britain it’s still technically illegal to be drunk in a pub, gotta love centuries old laws that no one can be bothered to take out
That's absolutely fantastic
@@salmence100 foraging mushrooms for sale is illegal in a lot of places
That's about poaching though. Assuming you're not allowed to fish in the areas we do. You're handling it in a suspicious circumstances because you've either got it illegally or the person whom sold it to you did
@@loading9110 There's a surprising amount of sea life listed as "property of the crown"
There actually are dialogues with Demetrius for sure that tell us we can cut down some of the trees in the forest. I'm not sure if he means cindersap or around his house but he does give permission.
New Crime: Calling Mycologists "Fungatists". At this point? Death Penalty.
"apparently it's illegal to just, have a bomb" UH... YEAH I SURE HOPE IT IS
Objection! In most states, bootlegging is the crime of selling or moving alcohol where prohibited by customs.
The crime of manufacturing alcohol without a permit is just garden variety tax fraud.
However, since you improve the quality of wine by leaving it in the keg for longer, that may qualify as Brandy! Which falls under the separate set of laws prohibiting the home manufacture of distilled spirits.
You're aging the wine, not distilling it. Wine doesn't turn into brandy by itself no matter how long it sits in a keg
And selling wine or other alcoholic bewerages without a license is illegal in and of itself, whether or not you pay the alcohol tax. You are right that it isn't bootlegging
Failure to report a crime is a crime itself. We have watched both Leah and Pierre commit assault and battery, yet neglected to report.
Wait when does Pierre's commit assault?
@@SylvainJoseGautier- When he punches Morris after you complete the Community Center.
Actually, a line of Robin's dialogue gives you permission to cut down the trees around the Mountain area, so if you only cut trees there, it would technically be legal
Ah that’s really cool!
@@salmence100 Never mind actually... I looked at Robin's lines on the wiki and unless they're missing some that line is from a dialogue expansion... oops guess I'm a criminal
@@gracegrass4462 I’m pretty sure Demetrius says that line
@@symar09 @gracegrass Demetrius Winter: "Feel free to harvest as much lumber and stone from this area as you please."
@@alexion3007 I knew I wasn't imagining it!
I suggest digging up that one patch note that says "fixed violation of the Geneva Convention" (a red cross above the doctor's office; the red cross is solely to be used for humanitarian aid)
1.Keeping any of the items for any of the quests the villagers send you for lost items is stealing
Examples: Robins lost axe, Lewis's shorts, or Linus's basket
2.For Sebastian's 14 Heart-Event you get a frog which is theft of wild animals
Some people skewer wild frogs with a small spear and eat them. Obviously laws on harvesting wild animals are going to vary from place to place but, generally speaking, catching a frog is fine.
Krobus has sentience so it stands to reason shadow people in the mines probably do too. Does that count for mass murder?
But isn't it self-defense because they attack us unprovoked?
@@barchenbox5393 Depends on your perspective. The player character basically barges into their home through digging for lower floors largely inaccessible to most people. Especially at the lowest ones. They're more likely going to be acting in self-defense knowing that
Krobus actually has a line of dialogue about this:
“...Have you encountered others like me, in the mines? I'm sorry if they were hostile towards you. You see, we've learned to fear humans... there have been too many... unpleasant encounters. You haven't... slain any of my friends, have you?”
Of course, the Adventurer's Guild actively rewards you for killing shadow people. Since the Adventurer's Guild is able to operate openly without even trying to hide their "Monster Eradication Goals," I'm guessing the shadow people in the mines must not have rights. Maybe the shadow people in the mines invaded the mines and are treated as criminals holed up in their lair, or maybe they're just victims of discrimination. Either way, it's probably legal (whether it's ethical is another question).
I always felt that when you get the junimos or Joja Corp to release a stream from the mines that pours minerals into the river, lake and ocean it must be some kind of environmental issue.
ooh, good point!
The junimos are like, nature spirits, so it's probably all cool. Right?
Licenses will vary depending on location.
It could be that stardew valley is in a location where you don't need licenses to go fishing or mining.
Did grandpa want us to continue the farm? No. Did he want us to duck taxes? Absolutely
i would argue harrassment with shane in the beginning is a crime, he explicitly states that he doesn't want to talk to you on multiple occasions yet you persist
what about some of the weird laws, like walking around town with an ice cream cone in your back pocket? (love this series!!!)
I see you live in Georgia
I don’t recall if there’s any interactability with Sebastian’s computer, but if there is, doing so without permission would be Unauthorized Access of a Computer…
There’s actually some mods that add taxes. All it does is take some money out of your wallet, but it increases exponentially based on your profits; just like in real life
sal: "there's one law that's broken in real life all the time"
me: "jaywalking?"
sal: "stealing private information"
me: "oh"
jaywalking depends, in america it's a crime but some countries don't have it as a law, since they assume it's common sense to not cross a road where vehicles actively go across. USA does the opposite, it *is* a crime to cross a road designed for vehicles because people are stupid enough to do it (in general, not just americans...).
it's intended to be a "fool me once" type of law, where you do it once, get penalized (or worse, injured by a car), then don't commit it again. it looks bad on paper, but it's meant to prevent accidents more than make money off of ne'er-do-wells.
5:51 I believe One of the NPC in robins house has a dialogue which says something along the lines of "You can cut all the trees around here"
You should do a Timelapse video where you have your player character sit in a jail cell for the full sentence. Kind of like mumbo jumbo’s video on “this red light will turn on in 10 hours” except a time laps.
Few ideas off the top of my head:
1. If the explosive ammo is considered high explosive, there’s probably some sort of law broken there
2 and 3. Permits needed for fish ponds and leaving crab pots out too long
4. Digging up significant historical artifacts and not reporting them
5. Digging up vertebrate fossils and keeping them
6. Is the desert casino legal? I dunno…
7. I think there are limits to how many foraged good you can sell without a permit
8. You can definitely launder money through Pierre, right?
Apparently you don’t need a permit for crabbing, but the others are all valid.
Actually Jaywalking isn't a crime if there's no crosswalk nearby. Love your videos!!
There’s a crosswalk on the other side of the bus! Thank you!
Teleporting to the desert and the bus being there means someone other than yourself drove it there. Ergo you trapped a poor soul in the desert (technically while stealing the bus?)
i did this irl once
Lov ur pf
@@Eli_04 thank you!
The radioactive bar is based of Californium
If that's true, then I believe that would up the penalty from $6,000 to $12,000, due to the severity of the radiation
how'd you know that
If you get a geode from a trash can and Crack it to get a prismatic shard that's grand larceny.
but in the same time when something is in the trash and you collect trash and reuse it isn't it recycling?
@@user-hn6hb2uu2j Salmence covered this in the first video: taking something from a trash can on private property is considered theft, regardless of what you took, or what you intend to do with it. It's only okay if the can's on the curb, since that's considered public property.
Though, that raises a pretty good question: Who collects the trash in Pelican Town?
Is dropping bombs in the town considered terrorism or attempted murder?
Why not both?
Both
alternatively, hatching slimes in the townie's rooms could probably be a more Ferngill specific way of attempting murder.
It's terrorism if they determine your intent was to spread fear.
Given that knowledge that someone is treating Pelican Town like Beirut would spread rapidly, I would expect both to apply.
@annegreyt4237 They say hi to villagers, so I think it's fine
Imagine if you dropped a radioactive bar in the water and were able to catch mutant fish 👀
Honestly, there are probably a whole litany of technical crimes that we commit in Stardew that people just aren't aware of. And the crimes we're aware of? We're almost certainly not tacking on every single law that we're actually breaking to boot, lol
There actually is dialogue expressly giving you permission to cut down the trees near Robin's and in cindersnap forest
I think you should talk about the crimes the NPC’s in Stardew Valley make and add up their punishments :)
kent is gonna get a life sentence probably
Harvey USED to break the Geneva convention !!
You forgot to add hunting/fishing an endangered species
yes ^^^
In extention the farmer participates in trading of endangered species
Wonder what LegalEagle would have to say about this video?
Honestly, I don't think there's any tax fraud going on.
Louis doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that's cool with just letting people pass on his taxes and you ARE that towns economy and he needs his golden statues.
So he probably just takes a portion out of your deposit he dumps on you in the beginning of the day. Now you may be wondering what about when you buy from a shop? A little dash of off-screenium.
That would cover local taxes, which still leaves the issue of federal taxes! Lewis would have nothing to do with that, so there's nothing to overlook!
For the first crime video, I assumed many dashes of off-screenium, the gloves come off in this one lol
What if we set aside money and it was in Europe?
in ye olden days before the internet... one went to the library or post office where all the tax forms were available. you had to figure out what forms were needed, pick them up, fill them out... and when i was really tiny, there weren't even copy machines yet! Online tax filing is like a party by comparison. ; )
Great video as always! : )
If you keep trying to talk to Shane while he's at work, does that count as Harassment?
updating my to do list now
The tax evasion isn’t really a thing. You provide all food sources for the town. You are easily the most useful and valuable person there. I think Major Lewis just doesn’t check it out because you basically own the place
So owning a monopoly, which is a crime in the US?
"it's illegal to just have a bomb?" sal do you have something to tell us
Well, in Poland you may go to jail for 25 years, and pay a fine of 250 000 euros for breaking physics law (mainly newtones ones), I'm sure that you may break it in stardew
Lets see
Warp totems which instantly brings you somewhere magically.
Golden clock stops natural debris,so it is likely manipulating time or space.

idk how to explain it, but your voice makes me super happy-
thanks for being a youtuber, my dood >:3
How perfect that this comes out during tax season. 🤣
6:07 those people are called mycologists, so 2 lifetimes in prison are coming your way
“Making and selling alcoholic beverages without a license is bootlegging”
Me on year 5 of my pirate-themed playthrough: oh yeah, it’s all coming together
Wouldn't a lot of the stuff you can do with the lucky shorts and Lewis's gold statue count as blackmail and/or extortion?
2:38 omg the sand is so beautiful
we need a stardew "Legal Play" mod
I appreciate how smuggling in beans from another country is more of a no-go than dumping radioactive waste into a river, completly destroying it in the process.
that was a smooth ad transition
Idk how itd work exactly, but I feel like warp totems have to break some kind of law. Especially the one warping to Ginger island, since you're going to another island, without any documentation
I don't know if you need documentation if it's part of the same region
Extremely thorough ,but I can think of a few more:
Building without a permit
Use of illegal substances(e.g. fairy dust or magic of the forest)
Destroying a natural habitat (Ginger Island )
Destroying a natural habitat ( The Valley )
Identity theft
Polluting (not illegal but it is being considered also burning wood for an example)
Mass murder (Mines, Skull cavern and Volcano Dungeon)
Destroying property without written permission ( Community Centre ( and all of the rewards ( the player does not do this but is apart of it ) ) and Movie Theatre )
And finally, Slavery of Junimo
Where is identity theft?
The Junimos volunteer no? Lewis gives permission to fix the community center. But other than that yeah.
@@I.No. but not written, I think
@@schwingedeshaehers Do you need written permission?
@@I.No. I don't know, probably depends on where you are. But the comment above says it
i cant remember if it was in the last video, but downgrade to like 1.3 or before and just go into town to break a warcrime based on harvey's clinic
That's actually a half truth the red cross intentionally perpetuates to protect their commercial trademark. The red cross symbol's association with the geneva convention is that it is a designated protection symbol for humanitarian operations in compliance with the convention and is not limited to the actual red cross organization. The warcrime would be misusing the symbol within that context, such as by having soldiers wear it, thereby forcing your enemy to attack people wearing the red cross and eroding its effectiveness as a protective symbol for humanitarian purposes such as by doctors. But, like everything else in the geneva convention, that has no relevance outside of war.
In the context of a video game like stardew valley, using the red cross symbol is at most a violation of the international red cross organization's commercial trademark, no different than using mickey mouse would violate disney's trademark. However, this trademark has objectively been genericized for all of living memory at this point with it being so consistently used to represent anything medical that it no longer has any specific association with just the red cross organization in popular perception. The red cross knows this, which is why they themselves have brought up the legally irrelevant geneva convention when browbeating people in to not using the symbol in media. They know that if they tried to sue someone like concerned ape for using the red cross like this that the most likely outcome would actually be them officially losing their trademark and their exclusive right to license the symbol for use on medical and emergency supplies. But, at the same time, they worry that if they do nothing the symbol will become even more genercized to the point that someone could actively come after them and have it stripped from them rather than them losing it from their own actions. And so they go around throwing the geneva convention at people towards whom it doesn't apply hoping to scare them in to backing down.
The ultimate move in this specific case would have been for concerned ape to have pointed out that the ferngill republic and gotoro empire are canonically at war and that the international red cross cannot prove that stardew valley is so far removed from the conflict as to disallow harvey from using the red cross for its intended use under the geneva convention as a protection symbol.
In college I worked a job doing public safety and we worked out of the campus PD and they abbreviate malicious mischief as "mal misch" which I think takes it up another level of silly
I'd argue dropping a radioactive bar into a lake isn't just poor disposal of radioactive waste, it's ecoterrorism
Furthermore... Where's the town's water supply come from? Probably lake or purified from the river... Poisoning that would be a big crime
One thing we are forgetting: we comit property invasion wen when we enter in Peoples houses using the city key item
The sponsorship was so smooth lmfaooo
Another one is it’s illegal to purchase alcohol beverages from a restaurant establishment and leave with said drink. The restaurant also gets a huge fine
How can you only get 6000$ fined for improper disposal of nuclear materials, but 20 YEARS in jail for smuggling? That makes no sense whatsoever!
Penalties in America are weighted more towards slights against the government, and getting around customs is that, + usually associated with bringing in illegal materials.
As we can see from the recent train crash in East Palestine, government doesn’t really care about environmental things
@@salmence100 Oh okay, thanks for letting me know. Love your content!
Mayor Lewis is the one who collects the items you put in the shipping bin, so given that he's the one who collects everyone's taxes, it's possible he just deducts income tax from what he pays you for the stuff you ship. That said, if you're receiving money from villagers for bringing them items, selling stuff to shop owners, or otherwise making money during the day, that's income that you're failing to declare.
Shops give the same money Lewis does so if he deducts taxes they must too
"It's illegal to have a bomb."
Uuuuuh...It's not mine. Kent gave it to me >_>
you could follow around an npc all day, find private data on their routine (meaning read their schedule on the wiki), and stay in their house all night for stalking
The smuggling one might only have evaded the laws of the Gotoro Empire and not our own country, especially since the Gotoro Empire is an enemy.
3:44 LOL
Stardew valley commit all crimes speedrun?
I never noticed we drive the bus from the desert. I always just assumed Pam teleported there :P
having a key to the town must surely violate some kind of privacy law right???
Can't wait for the ultimate crime to be shown: Marrying Penny.
**walks across road** “I’m a dangerous man 😎”
I am sure this has been said a few times already, but between this and the previous video the FBI is having a field day with your internet history.
Just thought of one: Endangering your livestock by close the barn doors on the last day of Fall while your animals are grazing and leaving them out in the cold all winter long.
At least in US, you can manufacture explosives for personal use. There's rules about quantities and how long you can have them and transporting and selling them are big no nos. But the farmer crafting a small bomb to blow up rocks on their own farm could potentially be just fine, so long as the state or municipality didn't have any additional laws prohibiting it. But then on the other end, you could go way further with all of the "selling X without a license" laws. Many states have "cottage food" exemptions, but once you get in to making enough money for it to be a business you have to have licenses and inspections to sell practically anything that is intended for human consumption. I just assume the Ferngill Republic, or at least Stardew Valley specifically, has extremely lax regulation precisely so that players don't have to deal with that sort of thing.
this is incredible
I just love stardew crimevalley
god tier sponsor transition
4:00 bruh, you are a mining corporation, you are allowed to have bombs 💀
Ice cream cone in back pocket (in some state in murca) even tho its a backpack...
More Crimes, Ginger Island and Mayor Louis Edition:
Grand Theft: Stealing Louis' Gold Statue.
Coercion: Putting Louis' Purple Shorts on display at the Stardew Valley Festival for extra Star Tokens.
Stalking: Finding Mayor Louis and Marny in the bush during the night.
Squatting: No one gave you that farm on Ginger Island.
Illegal Farming: No one actually gave you that farm. You just started farming.
Building without a Permit: Building the Resort on Ginger Island.
I mentioned all the Lewis stuff on the previous vid, I think others commented it too so must be some reason he doesn't want to? Or doesn't think it counts?
i don't think finding mayor lewis and marnie would be stalking, since the secret note that tells you when and where to find them doesn't mention who or what they're doing, however since shane (and your ex-spouse if you don't wipe their memory) will repeatedly tell you to go away, finding and talking to them over and over WOULD qualify
You know, I've been digging and it's the Governor of your unnamed state that you poison at the Luau, and that is a crime in and of itself apparently. Assault or (attempted) murder of a government official is a pretty serious offence and you can be charged with it in addition to the other stuff that you did.
owning a pet without a license or registration; unvaccinated pet; intact (not spayed or neutered)
i feel like dinosaurs would also qualify as exotic animals which are illegal to own in some states
don't forget the ostriches
jaywalking was the most horrendous crime i saw in this video. should be 100 years in the jail just for that, tbh. /j
salamence be like: "ok so this is strange, but owning bombs... is illigal?"
As far as tax not collecting taxes from you I always assumed the farm was just out side Pelican Town limits.

I'm a pretty violent person (when it comes to video games)
I didn't even READ the second option when this popped up, I immediately punched him.
Guess I learned what the second option is from this video. Thanks???
Where are Calico Desert and Ginger Island? If you bring the items from the traveling cart to either of those places, are you moving smuggled goods across state lines?
I don't think it's common for a bus to cross borders without a check point but you can also see Calico Desert on the town map plus it takes only a few minutes.
The city is further away and is still the same nation.
Dude, you're freaking hilarious! XD
I just realized that there isn't a single cop in Pelican Town... I blame Lewis, for certain. Which is also why Pierre didn't get charged for assault. I guess there's no bathrooms either but still.
I thought the change room at the spa had bathroom stuff
There's also building a fish pond without legal permit!
It's *possible* that robin obtains the permits for you, but... I doubt it.
"sounds kinda silly" my brother in christ, why would any rando be allowed to just have or make bombs for funsies?? 😂
Putting down a bomb in the saloon could be attempted mass murder
Not sure which of these are illigal or just shitty things to do, but here is a bunch of ideas
Defintly think there is a lot of unlawful destruction and exploitation of natural ressources, along with damage to local wildlife (eg. cutting down trees with animals in them, habitat loss, excessive fishing)
Using the Key to the town outside of hours you would usually be able to enter homes and shop could be considered trespassing.
Animal abuse with starving animals in barns/coops, small aquarims, improver conditions in aquariums ( salt and fresh water fish can be mixed, one of those ought to be miserable )
Destruction of a scientific worksite at the dig site on ginger island, are we even allowed to collect fossils/artifacts ect. outside of the ones the dr. snail/museum request
Destuction of historic sites (Skull cavern, Lava dungeon)
I think that you can scam Pierre by selling items with the artisan profession, change profession and then buy them back for cheap and sell again, or something like that
Do we have permits for our buildings on the farm?
Are we even allowed to claim land on ginger island?
We can blackmail Lewis with his lucky purple shorts at the fair or publicly humilate him at the Luau
Mingeling with pirates on ginger island?
Introduction of invasive species ( honey bees, putting invasive fish in bodies of water, plants on gingerisland) (and yes honey bees are often invasive, they can outcompete local pollinators, by collecting large amounts of pollon)
Sexual harassment at the Leah cutscene where you can choose "(creepy) can I have a kiss?"
Isn't it only jaywalking if there's a visible crosswalk?
You also totally do get permission from Robin to cut down the trees on their property if you talk to her - but that still probably doesn't extend to Cindersap Forest.
some licence can last more than one year, in NSW AUS you can uy a 3yr recreational fishing licence, considering much of the fish caught is sold though I don't think it would cover it, also pensioners are exempt from a fishing licence as well as a handful of other requirements, and apparently for slme reason being Aboriginal is also an exemption to requiring a recreational fishing licence here... weird
