6:04 Force of Negation doesn't actually fizzle rather it resolves but just can't counter the spell under the effect of Veil. I know this didn't matter at all but it might if the counter were a Mana Drain instead were you would add the mana of the spell on your next main phase even though you didn't counter said spell (this might be a little too nitpicking out of my part but since we're playing cedh I think it's very important the way things are communicated, hope you guys don't take this the wrong way, just trying to be accurate 😄) ggs
I was wondering how Etali was exiling entire libraries, then I realized *it doesn't put the lands back in* after exiling a non-land card. Guess I learned something new today.
Been running Etali cEDH for about 2 months in a highly competative meta. My version is a turbo etali and can consistently get Etali out T2, but have had several T1 Etalis. Think that is the way to go for Etali. Would be happy to share the list for anyone interested.
An early Survival of the Fittest like T2 is the sweet spot for any Gruul deck with a Dockside and Temur Sabertooh. I've won 2 out of the 2 games I've played with my Samut Voice of Dissent deck with that combo over the past month, which is how long I've owned that deck. (not cEDH)
Not wanting to die to infect, I once took control of a skittles commander and swung it back at it's owner, didn't kill him but he was so upset that he scooped and left the game. I was still pretty knew to magic at the time and was just blown away by his response.
Just a note about Etalis casting triggers. They all hit the stack at the same time so mystic would not have been on the field when they forced the souls majesty. Love Etali though
I feel like the new Etali might be one of the best Gruul options out there. Fun to see it transform and win the fair way, definitely one of the best payoffs in the command zone for dockside or food chain
Same reason as with Blood Moon Urza's Saga becomes a mountain, but it doesn't lose the Saga subtype, and since it has lorecounters on it, it is a saga with more lorecounters than it has chapters, and is thus sacrificed as an SBA.
Blood Moon causes Urza's Saga to become a Mountain; this is setting a land's subtype to a basic land type, so is covered by Comprehensive Rule 305.7: If an effect sets a land's subtype to one or more of the basic land types, the land no longer has its old land type.
Basically there is no last chapter anymore so the saga reads it as though it has already hit its last chapter, and therefore sacks itself to the game state action
Blood Moon causes Urza’s Saga to lose its chapters, but NOT its enchantment type or Saga subtype. As a result, when state-based actions are checked, the game sees a Saga with lore counters greater than the number of chapters on it, and Saga is binned during this check
las week I played etail, then hit another's player etali, and the second etali hit rise of the dark realms, returning the first etali to the field. It was a good turn for Prosper (the first etali I played wanst even mine)
I enjoyed the games but considering how fringe these decks are I don't think this is an accurate test of "[if] Atali is cEDH viable." Also, regardless of how good a Gruul commander is, I just don't think the color pairing has the depth for cEDH yet.
so question for anyone who may know. with the niv > curiosity win con. how do you finish off the last bits of life at the table? because you have less than 92 cards in your deck, meaning you only have 92 damage to deal with a maximum of 120 life. do you just wait until life totals are low enough?
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG Hexproof? I'm looking at the oracle text, and it only gives it the inability to be targeted by spells, no mention of abilities. In fact, it even says in the rulings that it has no impact on abilities.

You don't get to draw from remora because all spells are put on stack at the same time, unless his opponent want to wait for remora to resolve before countering the spell, which makes no sense
So I have a buddy who plays etali he said as long as the spells stay in exile he can cast them but I’m pretty sure you can only cast the exiled stuff for the turn I’m not sure tho
Thank you I knew you could cast them without paying I just didn’t know if you could stack them and save spells for later, I’m like I’m pretty sure they just stay in exile
Your buddy is wrong. Due to the timing and wording being the same clause as Etali, Primal Storm you can only choose to cast the exiled spells as the ability resolves.
Well, technically Etali won twice
ETALI SUPREMACY

I just realized that too. Thanks for pointing that out
same
Yea, the fact that the exiled cards are not recycled pushes it over the top.
3:45 Moral of the story: Always swing at the player with zero blockers.
I was a bad judge call away from Top 16ing with it this weekend, so to answer the thumbnail, yes 😅
This was the list I was referring to when we played in round 3! (I was the RogSi player)
Hell yeah homie. I like how you try different decks often. Sorry you had the bad call!
Mind sharing your list?

I am interested dear sir, I want to play Cedh but something that adds a lil bit of randomness and fun (for me).
Do you have a link for your list goodsir?

Defeating your opponents with THEIR own commander is the chefs kiss of cedh

It’s hard to understand just how many free spells there are in magic until you see a cedh game
Ι am happy to see MonoG still giving a good fight ! Hope to see Nissa Resurgent Animist soon !

I made a CEDH Etali deck and it’s won on turn one and two multiple times. I love this deck
List?
List fam
Gonna need a list
Considering how strong etali was in these games I would like to see more CEDH videos with etali
I read the etali deck list why there is no squee food chain combo. It's give you the same effect of temur and dokside.
I mean, yeah obviously Etali works when nobody is on Blue Farm/Tivit/Temur Pirates/T&T
There is still a pure Control deck with Niv Mizzet , that still put some results in tournament (when Shauna is playing Niv)
When Ryan says "Cal", it sounds exactly like Cartman saying "Kyle" from earlier seasons of South Park.
lol 😂
Also - Souless Jailer in an etali deck is a non-bo :/ such a feel bad
Can someone explain why does urza’s saga dies with magus of the moon in play? Pls

Urza's Saga becomes a mountain, but it doesn't lose the Saga subtype, and since it has lorecounters on it, it is a saga with more lorecounters than it has chapters, and is thus sacrificed as an SBA.

@@cjjones4017it has nothing to do with losing its old land types. It's due to it being a saga with no chapters
Holy cow marwyn got beaten down. Just an oppressive amount of removal to deal with

life is a resource, people in this game got their own life to 30.
@atk9989 im aware. Im asking about the scenario when people havent been blowing through their life totals like crack addicts. XD
I'm so mad that this Etali has green. He would totally be going into my Prosper deck
Does Autumn's Veil stop Gilded Drake? It's a targeted ETB trigger, not a spell, so wouldn't Autumn's Veil do nothing to it?
Yes, it does. Hexproof includes abilities.

Yeah he is 🤩
Did something prevent Cal from blocking Etali Primal Sickness game 1?
Etali is an 11/11 and has trample so blocking with his 2/1 would mean he’d die anyway

Free spells for value, sounds okay but we'll find out lolol
So, answer? Yeah, Etali is so viable it can even kill his owner. 🤣
Nice
MORE ETALI AND NIV
Why did Cal attacks 3 times with his commander different opps.. is he just focused 1..
i hope so
Why did Corey keep attacking Zach after he stole his Etali? Did he just give up and wanted to lose the game?

anyone else want to know how long the handstands where?? or is it just me?

Etali only taking ws
Why play a fetch land in a mono green deck? Does he even have any landfall? Seems pointless
