This video was such a hoot to watch! You cracked me up several times. One piece of advice... Remember that your mother IS watching (your biggest fan) and that maybe the 'nearly getting killed by an alligator' anecdotes are giving me an new and not so delightful anxiety disorder. Love you! And the boys were darling, as always.
Dude I just watched a video where some guy caught one, poorly hacked at it, and dressed it in pickle juice before putting it on the grill to be cooked in its own shell. Clearly he had no intention of even eating it. One chick ate a bite and that was it. I appreciate that you don’t waste your kills and actually commit, experimenting or not. You actually prepare yours the same way you would if you did it every day. Thanks, man.
Someone should start a restaurant in Florida specializing in serving these exotics! I would drive down to try these! Calls it a Central American restaurant too to gain interest!
I saw a horde of these in a canal in Broward. You'd probably need a boat to gig them, but I think a sturdy cast net could get you ten in a throw. Next to the IHOP at Sheridan and University Dr. Good luck!
I love to fish but a little bit of fish in my diet goes a long way with me. I definitely love portobello mushrooms! I used to grow them at a commercial mushroom farm. They are absolutely awesome!
If you put the onion, and a little bit of the Seasonings/herbs in the foil alone, cook it a bit, and _then_ put the fish in there, you'll get nicely caramelized, or even crispy onions, without over-cooking the fish. Always consider how different ingredients cook slower or faster, for example: If I have a recipe that calls for both minced garlic and minced shallots (sautéed), then I'll put the shallots in the Skillet alone with the oil, and give them, like, maybe a 90- second to 2- minute head start. This is because I know that the minced garlic will burn much more easily/ much faster. This way, the shallots and garlic will both Reach that _"almost-burning-but-Not_ phase," at the same time, and then I can add the wine, and start building my sauce (for example). The same goes for anything. It could be as simple as baking some Brussel sprout halves with onion petals. Obviously the Brussel sprouts will start to brown in the oven _wayyy before_ onions. Simple Fix: throw the onions in a Skillet with some butter and oil, and Seasoning, and cook them like ⅓ of the way. With the sprouts, you just melt the butter, and Only use the Skillet to toss the sprouts, just to coat them, but without cooking them at all. Now, when you bake the onions and sprouts together, they brown at the same time. Nothing is worse than under-cooked onions with over-cooked meat, or whatever else. You have to stagger-in different ingredients, into different recipes.
Unfortunately I don’t. A good friend of mine built it for me but I don’t think he videoed it. Maybe we can do another one and make a video about it one day! Thanks for watching!
Nicely done! I have eaten plecos in southern Colombia where they serve them whole on your plate (apparently boiled after being gutted) and you have to break the scutes with the back of your spoon to get at the meat. Not my favorite fish but glad that I have eaten them in case I have to survive in the jungle some day.
I see them rolling in my local lake & was wond3ering about them. I know they are an aquarium fish & are invasive. Was wondering if they are taking insects off of the surface? Would only eat them in a survival situation as there plenty of bream for eatin'. Well done sir.
Always better to just clean them right away but when I don’t have the time, I make a salt brine in a bucket and store it in my garage fridge over night. It works great for some fish but can make others mushy.
In Florida people should always carry shotgun when fishing. Also eating invasive species should be the law. Hell I'm even up for snakes! Amazing video, insta subbed!
@@Shouldawornshoes In our country there's a polluted river called "burigonga"..this river is filling up with this fish... people are getting worried about it....
Pleco do not eat mud or filter mud. They eat algae which is seaweed. Like nori. Pleco is delicious because of the food it eats. After all its a catfish.
Don’t say subscribe or whatever til after the video. I just instinctively clicked off right as you said it. If that doesn’t give you enough information on current virtual human interaction/input I’m not sure what else will. Good video and goodbye, sir.
Nicely done. I think that fish with the hard black shells is also famous in Guyana. Its called ' Sea Hassar'. ! Enjoy my friend. 😁😁🙏👍💯👍🙏🇬🇾
Thanks man! It was very good. Is it famous like the regular Hassa?
@@Shouldawornshoes Not as famous but people does eat them.

It wasn't bad! It's super important to cook it right and season it. Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
Lmao are you talking about "catfish and carp" I think we watched the same video 🤣

Here in my country we fillet it and then we wash it with lime to get rid of the fishy smell and taste. And we fry it like a popcorn chicken. Delicious

Exotics ? Yeah right
Best armoured catfish so far! Bring me mode if you have some 😅
And avoid catching Gars if it is a catfish invasion.

@@Shouldawornshoes 4:30 ID that monster gar before you spear it. Alligator Gar are protected statewide. AFAIK the other species are not.

Great video! Reminded me of that catfish that tried to cross the road.
Thanks! Those walking catfish are crazy. They will walk a mile! I’d love to find some of them.
why r u preparing that mushroom straight on that table

I also follow a Japanese guy who cuts and eats fish on here. Wonder if he has/will do a video with this fish.
Great video 👍
You have a new subscriber 😜
Are these legal to spear from land in Florida?
Yes. They are invasive and have no harvest regulations.
You in Florida near ottercreek?
A little ways south of Otter Creek!
Great video, I learned a lot!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it.
I bet ya it would rock deep fried !!

honestly you could probably market this as freshwater monkfish

I HAVE THAT PLECO TOO IN MY AQUARIUM
That was not a longnose gar. Longnose gar mouths are way longer and narrower than that. My best guess is that it was a Florida Gar
Thanks! Ill keep that in mind!
Didn't see it "flake" as you tried to insist it did, but regardless, good video on how to make use of an incredibly invasive fish. well done!
yes go and get you some.....
My father would have lived to catch these fish. Ii remember we caught a fluke he was so excited,
Cinema gold is watching the goat nibble the olive oil.
I loved that part.
Sucker mouth catfish can survive 24 hours without water so far i know
Dang! I’ve seen them dried up on the bank before.

I always had plecostomus is in an aquarium and they kept it very well cleaned
Why is cilantro controversial?
Just a joke because lots of people hate it.
now the best way to cook suckermouth catfish are you have to season the meat with herb and spice then you can fry them with or without any batter
Next video see if you can tan the skins of these. Some pleco skin boots would be sick af!
You look like a young trey Parker
Use a cast net.
Too easy! Lol
the day ppl realize this fish taste better then a lot of fresh water fish hands down taste like crab meat frfr
People say it taste like catfish or lobster depending on how you cook it.
Ik he meant the meat but imagine it says shell next seconds: takes knife smashes fish tear head and bone blood splashes 😂
I just caught a 5lb armored cat, on a Large diving frog lure.. blew my mind. Watched it happen. I dk…
