The more you play cards with Humanity, the better you learn how to get along with us. But treat us poorly, and you may find out how much longer we've been playing this game than you have.. and that we've had certain cards up our sleeve, just in case.

    Human: "Why shouldn't they exist?"

Human: "Strange, those laws must need amending since they seem to still live."

While I do believe the complete glassing of the planet was unnecessary, I don't blame the humans for their response. If another species resorts to war before diplomacy, then war it is along with everything that comes with it.

2nd story: the saddest thing is if the Selushi asked for aid, humanity very likely would have immediately begun to help, providing resources, sharing available land and likely even begin working to develop terraforming technology to save their dying planet and develop new ones, but the Selushi were so blinded by desperation for their own survival they felt they couldn’t risk us saying no and leaving them, and acted rashly and harshly. And fearful we retaliated even more harshly and exterminated them. What could have easily been humanity’s first friends in the cosmos, turned out to be one of our most cruel and shameful acts.

Second story was pretty ridiculous in my opinion. Humanity welcomed them and were attacked during it. They rightly assumed in the hostility. But then the self depreciation. It was more telling to me that there weren't efforts made on the alien species to establish dialogue with humanity. If the reveal of the motive was after the story of their destruction, I'd have understood. But it makes no sense to make Humanity to be all "arbiter of life" from the way it was written.

eh,look at the media today, even stuff that is just criticising somone and isn't racism gets treated like it is,for example you criticise the only white/black character in one entire series and if you do it only because of personality and the way they act, everyone will think you're racist
we view even things that aren't racist as racist nowdays,i don't see it going anyway different in xenophobia, for example even if you weren't afraid of one of these aliens that don't fall in the "norm" i ca nvery well see somone seeing them for the first time and just whispering "weird" before being bombarded with shame comments on intergalactic social media.

Look at all of the wars we’ve been in against each other over the course of history, the moment we’re attacked, diplomacy vanishes pretty damn quick and is replaced by retribution via a smoking barrel. The aliens attacked humanity and humanity responded with much greater force. There was no time for dialogue, especially since the aliens didn’t bother establishing any attempts at peace after they attacked. If you ask me, the aliens were the ones who fucked up, and they paid the price for their hostility when welcomed with open arms.

So, what would the "right" thing to do have been? Let them commit genocide instead of us? Those were the options, they made that abundantly clear. Sure, it was an option born of desperation, but why those were the only options is irrelevant.
If other options would have been available they would have explained their actions when they were obviously defeated. That they didn't strongly indicates they had no remorse. That even then they were unable to ask for help is a strong indication as to how they would respond to being asked for help.
People always assume others will react the way they would, for the reasons they would. That's exactly why the ambassador friend couldn't understand how humans could be friendly with the non-standard species.
That's why, even facing annihilation, the species still chose war over asking for help or even explaining their actions. Had the positions been reversed they would have still committed genocide knowing those things, so fully expected others would as well.

I don't get why the extermination of the Selushi is perceived as such a deeply shameful chapter. Sure it's sad their world was dying but they attacked and showed their hostile intent. If you killed a starving man who was trying to eat you, it'd be justified self defense. Better if you could restrain him and find him a meal but under the circumstances it is justifiable.

    • @kylemackinnon6230

How do you save a drowning man? If you just jump in and swim to them, the victim, in a hysterical attempt to get above water, will climb on you and hold you down resulting in you both drowning. This is often what happens when you hear on the news of an attempted drowning rescue where the rescuer and victim drown. No, you take something that floats and toss them that instead. Beachside lifeguards use 'boogieboards', like a surfboard, but only about a third the length attached to a rope that is attached to their ankle by a loop. The lifeguard will swim out to a spot near the drowning man and push the board to them. The drowning man then has something to hold onto that keeps their head above water, while the lifeguard has free use of their arms to swim to shore, towing the victim.
The shame is that we didn't bring a boogieboard (food, evacuation, etc.), we tried to just grab them, and when they tried to pull us under in their panic, we knocked them out and let them drown.

    • @blastphantomgames6369
      @blastphantomgames6369 Год назад +3

You don't ask why not even then would it have mattered... Cool they needed food they should have asked it's not they they didn't already spend time talking...
instead went to murder them by far the worst option
Even knowing they needed food the action dictates they were going to rob the planet from you by commiting mass murder.
Moral responsibility being on the victim of the attack is foolish and the story could have been better written for how such discontent and feeling would make it far more likely they they would break their own rules to get rid of them
also should a threat come by this stagnation would be an issue common sense issues really.
What happened to them would be considered sad but not kys sad by any means and certainly not enough reason to adopt such a thing when technically that already exists

I think the regret is more of the opportunity lost than regret over what was done, it's morning that which could have been vs what occured.
When I look at our political extremists today; who label thise of the LGBT Community as pedophiles, who see members of certain denominations let alone other faiths as thise who are lost, thow who will be judged and thus condemned, as infadels, and those worthy of being tortured, imprisoned, and put to death. Likewise, we see such hate cast at thise who's culture, country of origion, etc, is different. We see how our fellow humans are dehumanized, discriminated against, become victoms of hate, and are even murdered simply for who they are.
How will this xenophobic segment of society respond to alien apecies that have more diversity than humanity, that reproduce asexually, or in the other diverse ways we see among earth's other species.
Will our extremists insist on their right to prostlatize to these alien species, even when such an action is unwelcome by these species? Will our extremists ignore and denounce the religions, cultures, etc, of these species?
I feel humanity has a lot of growing up to do before we are ready for first contact with an alien species.

We are not monsters we merely live life to survive means you exist sarcastically "congratulations" but we human beings we live life we feel deeply we treat every single second as the most precious rarest resource in all the cosmos we feel we live we love and we treat every second as a precious commodity every life is sacred and we treat it as such we killed the defend and to destroy a corrupted entity or a corruptive government or system or a corrupted person after that we tried to heal the innocent those caught in the crossfire those forced to work for the insanity of that corrupted person or government we do not paint everything with a wide brush we use a nanomolecular hair and nanomolecular scope to paint all things because that is the only way you can get the appropriate detail to show all things we human beings live on a diversity Rich planet this diversity allows us to see things from multiple points of view and it also allows us to live and experience more than just survival we live the very core of our beings is burning bright with emotions of love laughter life joy and love while other entities out there are empty inside and that's why they look like drones to us human beings but to us human beings we can see the tiny little flicker of a spark inside of them and like any adult we try to Stoke the passion, the flames of Love and life and joy and we guard it and we hold it sacred, when human beings look at you we don't see your species or your color or your differences all they see is another person who can feel pain who can feel Joy who can love who could understand and that is why human beings will always be at the top everyone else are empty husks in comparison.
