This makes for a great stable mount. The only thing to be aware of is that some may not be as easy as this one to disassemble. Some have a ring or nut holding the pin in place rather than just the pressure of the spring.
They also sell an aluminum version for around $8 which is quite nice. I don't drill and mount a GoPro plate to it. I just use a Smallrig or Camvate 'magic clamp' type thing to attach to the top of the handle after I close it. Oh yeah it would never hurt to tie a safety string to it in case it does come loose. Might be the difference between getting your camera and mount back or seeing it fly away and get run over
When I got back into making videos I spent some time looking over my analytics and it is clear you guys love the DIY mounts most of all. Now it is just up to me too keep coming up with cool idea. One video a week, 52 weeks a year that is a lot of new DIY mounts come up with.
Now that's a great idea. But I got a similar suction cup and for some reason it comes off the surface after about 10 minutes, no matter how smooth surface (for example a table) I put it on. Before it comes off it grips very well. Does yours leaks as well, or maybe I found a lower quality one?
Zerbert_The_Zuma if there is nothing in between that could damage the surface (like sand) then i don't think it'll damage it also wet the surface and the suction cups to get better suction
True! If you added two extender bars you would be able to get more angles or you could mount the tripod mount the other way around, this would get you a little bit more clearance.
Thanks man! I have to give credit to AVE for the idea to add classical music over top of drilling/milling. If you have not seen his channel you should check it out.
An obvious question but why didn't you just use a gopro mount with the 3M sticker instead of all the effort of dismantling, drilling and re-assembly. That's what they were designed for.

this has got to be the best diy mount ever
Wow that is high praise, thanks!
I was in Harbor Freight store today in Glen Burnie, MD. They had this suction cup for $3.49. Just FYI.
You can get one of those from Harbor Freight. Cool idea.
Thank you Kyle I was just about to buy a suction cup mount for my GoPro today actually and you saved me a few bucks thank you so much
Great idea. I have one of these already. If one is careful, no need to disassemble the suction cup when drilling the hole.
Hello ! Thanks for this useful video . what is the diameter of the suction cup ?
Harbor Freight sells them for $ 3.99 5/19. Works just like the video illustrates.
I have never thought of this idea, I was looking to buy a mount but there are kinda pricy Great idea though 👍
Thanks man!
Hey what's up just watched your video on the RUclips goalie and I'm going to try your suction cup mount out
That's actually a pretty good idea.
Sometimes I actually have those, most of the time though they are bad
I'll be making that this weekend. Thank you good sir.
Good idea. But lacks allowing to til the camera backwards. Modifying the handle will help.
Chris Z. Check out the one I built. I like this one too.
This is a good point! you could add a few extender bars or mod the handle.
Nice video. Glad the DIY'S are back!

Understandable. I think a DIY GoPro Paracord tether would be awesome!
OUTSTANDING! Now how do I mount a ball on both ends of a pipe? hmmm
Great idea! Very creative
That's awesome!! Great video!!
Thanks!
very clever ! well done !!
Just did it myself, great idea! Thanks man
Hey Kyle! I just went to target and picked up the dual battery charger for my hero 5 black!
Nice!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this 👍

brilliant ! thanks for sharing amazing ideas , buddy
Great idea
Great idea will be making this tomorrow thanks for the idea
Cool! If you do you should shoot me a photo, email is goprotip@gmail.com
Kyle Martin Tech "GoPro Tips and Tricks" hey bud I sent you some pics of the mount I made today it turned out good
Can this withstand 80 miles an hour up mountains through every type of weather?
Wouldn't drilling a hole in it cause it to lose suction?
Very nice !!!
the Link in the description is not the link for the Product in the video !!!
Great Diy project, compared to very expensive Go pro products.
Thanks! the GoPro suction cup is really expensive, plus it is not orange....
I've missed your videos.
Missed making them
Nice!
Brilliant!
Would a suction cup mount, if used in the same surface multiple times, end up damaging the surface??
I do know of this happening but it could be possible. I would make sure both the surface and suction cup are clean
Kyle Martin Tech "GoPro Tips and Tricks" okay, thanks!
Zerbert_The_Zuma if there is nothing in between that could damage the surface (like sand) then i don't think it'll damage it also wet the surface and the suction cups to get better suction
Leevi21 okay... that is a good point. Thank you!
What about the angle of the video?, it's 90's degrees video?
True! If you added two extender bars you would be able to get more angles or you could mount the tripod mount the other way around, this would get you a little bit more clearance.
Bright orange :D
thank-you !
BLRS Suction Cup or Gopro Suction Mount, which is better ?
Can't say, I have not used the BLRS
GoPro saw this video and said MAN SHIT! Awesome Video Man Thanks!!!
Great idea that I may well try. BTW loved the music while drilling! :0)

If GoPro sold their stuff at a reasonable price you'd be out of a job !!! Nice idea , Now I just need to find a suction cup that big.
"Son of a gun" cool idea!!!
Thanks!
idk it's kind of big for my liking
nice idea tho
smart. :P
There's no need to drill shit. Just use one of the gopro adhesives
Sometimes the adhesives have the tendency to fail, especially in a moist environment. You'd hate to loose your GoPro on a simple glue failure XD
Hot to you get your GoPro to face the right way... you can lean backwards on a car Window for exaple...
Do you use the extension bits?
