Can you do a video on the evolution of Demons & Angels, along with the portrayal of the Abrahamic Hell (from the Hebrew 'Sheol' and 'Gehanna'), as they clearly started more as spirits than the semi-deities we know today; for hell, Ik it's probably alot more complicated.
That is a topic to way later. Demons are not a part of biblical lore until way later. Actually in the old testament there is no actual demon, only angels, some sent to do good things by God, other sent to do evil things. Satan, one of God angels, is the one sent to prosecute sinners. In only in the New Testament where we see Satan as a antagonistic force that dont want humans to have salvation, thus he starts a rebellion with one third of heaven angels (the demons), that ends with him trying to take over the world to end Jesus words in tbe book of revelation, but is ultimately defeated. So Jake will explore this topic later because it makes sense for him to explore the other old testament stories first.

Thanks for doing this video dude. I've always been curious over the Book of Enoch since, y'know, Catholics don't recognize this book as canon, but the idea of a man, through enlightenment, becomes an Archangel with a name sounded very appealing. Plus, the idea that the Watchers are angels that sinned makes the angels that don't sin look more respectable because they resist those temptations and overcome them of their volition every moment of their existence; kind of like what the Fall of Lucifer does for the loyal children of God like Michael and Gabriel. Makes them look respectable in their self-restraint. Plus, that art for Angelarium. It's like Eldritch Horror flipped on its side into some sort of Cosmic Beauty. I can't stress how much I love that art.
Believe me, Angelarium is far from the first one to do that. Bayonetta's done it, several Final Fantasy games have done it, and it's been done a number of times in D&D and Magic: the Gathering.

The first time I heard of the nephilim was playing an old RPG called Exile, later and more famously remade as Avernum. It was hard to tell what they were supposed to be from the tiny sprites but I thought they were tall, thin, gray cat people! Can you do a video on Bergjarlar. They are mountain giants in norse mythology, and its hard to find information on them, which i think is pretty cool. From what i read that they are vampiric, like with 2 fangs and drink blood.
Interestingly enough, even though most Christians do not consider the Book of Enoch to be canon, the Epistle of Jude (which is considered canonical by most Christian sects) actually makes several references to Enoch, treating the referenced events as real.

One little critism of this video is that refering to Gods sons as angels is only one interpretation other interpretations would refer the sons of God as the descendants of Seth and the woman as the descendants of Cain and when they married they formed unholy unions and historically this was the most popular view with it being supported by such figures as Martin Luther and John Calvin and another interpretation would be that the sons of man were referring to kings who decided to start practicing polygamy.
im taken a back by the similariteies i see with the nethalim and how old fashioned humans would have tried to explain neanderthals. 'the why files' have a really good episode about neanderthals, i highly recommend
Hey Jake, heres some additional information concerning the passage from Genesis that may shed some light on the origins of the Nephilim: That passage stems from a time when the cult of yahweh (at the time merely a god of storms and war) experienced a religious convergence with the cult of El (This is where israEL got its name). El was basically the big daddy of the canaanite pantheon and every attribute that we think of when it comes to the christian god is pretty much based on him. All powerful white bearded guy? Yeah thats El. But through convergence Yahweh basically assimilated everything that was attributed to El until there was no difference between the two. So far so good, but in the canaanite mythology El had a bunch of kids. These are the kids that were described to descend onto earth to get laid in Genesis 6. So when the followers of yahweh decided to go monotheistic and claim their god as the one and only, children of their god didnt make sense anymore, which is why they were demoted to angels, a concept that didnt really exist before that. This is a crude summary, if youd like to get a more in depth look at all of this and the origins of yahweh in general, please take a look at the channel Esoterica who put out a video specifically on yahweh.
I personally believe that Nephilim are only Humans with the Soul (Fallen Angel). It is why God introduce death, immediately after union is mentioned. As his "essence" should not mix with matter, for too long.

NOW i know why we have 365 days in a year
It’s a cartoon
Bro aren’t you at the top of his last community post?
Yep just checked nice job dude
It would be interesting if Jake ever did a video on “The Book of Mormon”.
South Park does a pretty good deep dive lol

I only was curious about this since I am a Mormon and I think it would be an interesting topic.

I like how these kind of make sense with Supernatural series too
Great video 🎞
I remember reading 📖 about Enoch having building a Holy City 🏙 called Zion, and God loved the people in that city so much, that He took the whole city into Heaven.
Hey, I participated in his first kickstarter! Got a deck of cards.
So... For a reason or two I wanted to make a video/write a piece about Enoch and the legends that he became the angel Metatron. I'm kind of too lazy to actually do the proper research and can only speak from personal knowledge of the Talmud and Jewish Midrash. So anyway, it'd be great if you'd make a video about it - I can probably bring a point of reference or two. Either that or I'll actually put in the work and do it myself. I should probably do the latter.
i love angels so much, its my pfp and what my username is based on. just bought the books and i cant wait to get them
Actually there are 3 books of Enoch, The Book of Giants, and the Genesis Apocryphon that go into great detail about these subjects. The Ethiopic Orthodox Church has held onto most of these books. You should check them out.
Theres also jubilees, and a portion of baruch (smaller part)
Unfortunately i have not found access to the genesis apocryphon not even on RUclips audiobooks
@@noahtylerpritchett2682 Genesis apocryphon is also called The Testament of Lamech, try that.
@@DIJo92788 Second and Third one are known apocrypha.
Only first one is relevant, as it may be older then the Bible.
It is also canon in Ethiopian Church.
Honestly the most interesting Watcher is easily Azazel. He is put in a position equal to God in Leviticus, and plays a role not unlike the devil before the devil was ever conceptualized. He's also the only named Watcher not explicitly mentioned in the whole angels sleeping with humans thing in any version of Enoch, and is only first mentioned -and in many versions explicitly mentioned first- when the watchers start teaching humans things
So, basically he's Prometheus.
@@videogollumer A comparison could be drawn, yeah
@@azazelreeds Azazel is the devil. Satan in the Bible actually work for God. And Lucifer IS the God.
The devil is not a thing in scripture, and Lucifer is barely canon. You're right about 'satan' though. Ba'al does antagonize God because it's his job to @@TheRezro
5:23 How did Enoch 4:23 get replaced with Genesis 1:1
now i really want to get Angelarium
These books look so beautiful! It's a shame they can't be shipped to my country... 😢
OH WOW!!! I didn't expect this collab to happen!
I'm a huge fan of Angelarium! I got both the books + The Book of Enoch and those works make the foundation of my fascination with angels! 💫 🪽✨
In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints we believe Enoch was a dispensation head after the decendents of Adam fell away from God. Enoch tauht repentance like Noah but instead of everyone ignoring him the people repented and their entire city (Zion) was brought up to be with God.
Wow what a treat, thank you so much! ❤
Though Sariel taught men the course of the moon and her name is said to provide protection against the Evil eye
Somebody made a pretty popular fanfic: 16th century occultist John Dee, with his buddy Edward Kelley. He invented a language he called "Enochian" which could be used to communicate with angels, and based his homebrew magic system on it.
Another fanfic: Paraside Lost by John Milton
Its starting!!
Love that guy's art! And one of his pieces is also featured on the latest album from Blind Guardian, God Machine, a great German power metal band!
Sorry if this has already been pointed out, but at 5:24 the quote is wrong
There is definetely something about these myths that wont let me resist (especially if its just 50,- including shipping and code, right now)
Yay another one of these im so happy
Which Book of Enoch details the time Azazel went toe-to-toe with Denzel Washington?
Neither. Some speculate that Samyaza and Azazel may be the same.
Great movie underated
Hello Jake! Once again, you did such a wonderful job! I always love the way you present the myth stories! All this to say, never loose this marvelous way of being!
Oh, also, are you familiar with the ever so entertaining duo Pascu&Rodri here on RUclips? They're Latino and do humorous songs regarding the myths. They're interpretations of them are quite interesting. If you could, or rather want really, check them out!
Thank you and have a good one
7:11 the middle angel has a thumb for a pinky.
Can you do a video of Lucifer’s rebellion please.
It’s about time we figured out what those old myths might’ve been about
Yes another fan of angelarium
The first time I heard of the nephilim was playing an old RPG called Exile, later and more famously remade as Avernum. It was hard to tell what they were supposed to be from the tiny sprites but I thought they were tall, thin, gray cat people! Though from what I can remember, they also resembled Saturn (the god, not the planet) as portrayed in the painting of him devouring his children...
Can you do a video on Bergjarlar. They are mountain giants in norse mythology, and its hard to find information on them, which i think is pretty cool. From what i read that they are vampiric, like with 2 fangs and drink blood.
Idea: for april fools, do a video on atheism, and just have it be twenty seconds of you saying "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
Can you make a video about Hindu mythology.
It's really interesting plus I love learning about mythologies from your vids.
Love you
oh the art is absolutely gorgeous!
The way I NEED this book yet it doesn't ship to Argentina
Interestingly enough, even though most Christians do not consider the Book of Enoch to be canon, the Epistle of Jude (which is considered canonical by most Christian sects) actually makes several references to Enoch, treating the referenced events as real.
Core events of First Enoch straight are in the bible. The detail is not canon.
first time a sponsorship worked on me e.e
5:25 I think the quote is incorrect
On the subject of enoch is him actually being turned in to angel actually a thing?
Humans who go to Heaven are pretty distinct from angels.

Angelarium what? That's so cool!
I suspect we will be seeing either an Angelarium live action film or some anime in the near future. That artwork is extraordinary. 🎨👍🏼
Kool....luv your work
My favorite Angel is Ramiel. She is best girl.
That book cover is giving me Neon Genesis Evangelion vibes. Heck, there's even the Lance of Longinus!
im taken a back by the similariteies i see with the nethalim and how old fashioned humans would have tried to explain neanderthals.
You should do the Forgotten Realms pantheon!
For how detailed the books of the old testament are you can clearly feel the missing parts of Enoch story . It was so brief as if texts r missing or like u said the author assumed we know these stories.
Wtf. This are the stories I want to hear. The book of Enoch sounds epic.
There's a enoch audiobook
Surprised you didn’t mention that Mormonism has it own version of the Book of Enoch called the Book of Moses.
Though while on the topic, I would be interested in seeing you do a video on Mormon mythology, there’s a lot of neat stuff in there that people just don’t know about.
0:50 wouldnt he be the 7th?
6th from Adam, 7th from God.
A video on the henotheism in the bible would be wild lol.
