Couldn't agree more, very few can play every note as crisp and clean as Poland and his technicality doesn't falter even a bit at breakneck speed. Also that he can incorporate his playing into multiple genres when it's needed without losing even a bit of his stylistic integrity, I'd imagine it's pretty mind-blowing to witness in person.
Xavi Lion Poland doesn’t really have an exotic sound the same way Marty does. Not a slight against him, he’s a lot jazzier while Marty’s playing takes a lot of influence from eastern music which gives it that exotic sound
Marty Friedman is great... he's far better than most shredders out there. But Poland just has something that almost none of the other shredders have... he plays in crazy melodic patterns while still maintaining a snarly rock tone that doesn't rely on gain to get where it's going. Most players would fumble without that extra saturation to sustain them, but not Chris, he just flows right through it.
Plus he has his own signature phrasing, patterns and bends. He sounds like himself and can easily venture into jazz and progressive rock as well as metal. It’s a fresh taste that’s different than what we are used to hearing. Great player.

It looks like his pinkie finger became self-aware and learned how to shred on its own
LOL
Which i find interesting because I've never seen someone exclusively shred with only the 1st three fingers, and 0% pinky.
That's because he can't bend the index finger of that hand completely, so he has to compensate with the other fingers.
