Seriously, the fans and players deserve much better quality videos from ITTF.
The video quality is up to 720p... I can bet that you guys just leave it on default (360p) and have no idea. The quarter finals video quality and frame rate is much better than the other matches this far.

first video ive seen yesterday i thought my eyes are bad suddenly. i couldnt see anymore how any ball was played, and the ball itself was a blurry white spot :D
edit: the ball is on the other side of the table and you can still see the trajectory it went.

Show-man Gauzy
This is (personally) one of the rare moment that Xu Xin is being pushed to the 7th set by non-China player, where Xu Xin chole vigorously. Simon Gauzy are displaying a very well play style that as Xu Xin fan I even felt contented when Gauzy won the point. Both of them are extremely entertaining to watch, truly a quarterfinal match with a Final feeling.
Too bad the camera quality doesn't live up to the quality of the game itself.

Yes, Wttc 2019 record had, this time Xu was a bit nervous that he lost some service right into the net.
It's the best of penholders vs the best of handshakers.
2 quick tips for ITTF: 1. Buy new cameras. 2. The view from above is absolutely useless and is surely not worth the effort to set it up.
View from above is the worst angle possible. What else can ITTF do to make it worse? Frame speed is so poor, countless complaints here. Let us hear more from Adam, just a few more seconds after spectacular exchanges. He is the best commentator who really provides positive/convincing inputs on the game.

As much of a Xu Xin fan that I am, I thoroughly rooted for Gauzy in this match. Fantastic performance man.
My two favorite players by far. Their style are unorthodox, based upon creativity and spin. The new generation is so good but the rallies are shortened (Harimoto for instance). Is it a new and organic trend or is it enabled by the plastic ball ?
This has to be the first time I see XX scream at every winning point in a match. This is match where XX literally play against himself. The stroke and style of Simon replicate that of XX, no wonder XX has a hard time defeating himself. Simon play like possessed Xuperman.
I think he is also doing it because Simon is doing the same, so he is trying to keep his head up instead of getting down because of Simon's cheering. I'm not sure but at 7:00 at 4-1 Xu Xin, it looks like Xu Xin is kind of annoyed and gesturing to Simon, "why are you cheering for a point like that?"

Man, what a game, both are world class players at their peak performance, this will be a memorable game for many years.

This is the most fun match I've seen in a while. Both played extremely well and their playing style are very similar.
Fantastic match! Both Xu Xin and Simon Gauzy exhibit a style that is spectacular and magical to watch. Inside-out backhands, chop blocks, or very deep behind the table, these 2 certainly make excellent ambassadors for the sport.
Exactly. No wonder they are often in the top 10 of best points. To be fair Xu Xin is always in it.
I wish Xu Xin would go on playing for years and he is only 29 even if it's considered old the chinese team standards. Plus, he never has been so good i reckon. In conclusion more Xu Xin vs Gauzy or even Koki Niwa ( my three favorite players).

Phenomenal points from Gauzy. Sometimes I wonder whats going on in his head... *after playing a left handed behind the back sidespin chop block* "maybe I should played a two-handed strawberry-style topspin lob through my legs hmhm..."

I love the way Simon Gauzy played the match very much. I am also satisfied by Xuxin’s performance. This is one of the best match for modern table tennis.
I have never seen this performance from Simon, he literally made XX become Harimoto in the last few shots lol

I think if he had lost a second time to Gauzy, Xu Xin would have kissed goodbye to any chance for the olympics in individual. Maybe it's already the case after his lost to Pitchford.

I thin that is a good angle because you can see how far the players from the tabble, and we easily experience fast speed of the ball.
Gauzy has amazing touch and control of the spin style. Even xx had trouble with some of his heavy spins. Rare in today's game to have a player use an all wood blade. Even xu xin has changed to a carbon one.
His game is very beautiful

@@rohanjoshi5525 Personally, I was strongly rooting for Xu Xin, because he would be slammed by his coaches for losing to Gauzy twice. That would potentially forfeit his chances for Olympics singles. And besides that, Xu Xin is my favorite player ;-).
Both are real fighters. No one was ready to give up. well done superb table tennis

Sad that the audience is very little for such a beautiful game between the most enjoyable players to watch. Simon is more and more consistent, hope he can fight for a medal in the Olympics.

@@uvsl1978 actually a lot better.. xu xin is comfortable almost against everyone except few chinese . but gauzy finds it difficult against many. gauzy reads xu's serve quite well and able to counter those top and side spin killer shots and can block it close to the table changing direction . And there were some great rallies won by gauzy. quite impressed the way he performed . just an outstanding match and both of them showing character .
Indeed they 2-3 levels apart but in head-to-head their last matches were pretty tight.
I think xu xin and gauzy show the same skills that's why there are so fun to watch. Obviously xu xin is a better player. Simon at it's best is a pain in the a** for a lot of asian and chinese players, but he lacks regularity and perhaps a higher mental drive in the key points. He often lead 2:0 or 3:1 but he can't kill the match. Loosing or not, he's always a showman.👍

Wow, awesome match. Normally always want the underdog (or non-Chinese player) to win in Europe - China battles but with these two I was conflicted. The potential negative knock-on effects on Xu Xin's career if he had lost this would have been much greater than the benefit to Simon Gauzy's if he had won. And seeing Xu Xin win Olympic singles is imho important for the sport.
But ma long doesn't give up that easily 🤷♂️.... And we're also talking bout the likes of fan zhendong who's looking monstrous lately
I too want him to win the Olympics. The dude is basically keeping the penholder style alive.
That's if there's an Olympics this year...
Xu has no shot at playing singles unless ma long is injured.
@Oliver McCall ML and FZD were looking superb in the latest warm-up. So, there's very little chance of him getting qualified after losing to Xu Chenhao.

Wow, Gauzy came to play! Amazing play by both players. You know you are gonna see something special when you have two of the most interesting players in the ITTF battling it out.
I have rarely watched someone so competitive against Xu Xin in long distance rallies.
It's 2020 and still the quality...
Epic! Matches between XX and Gauzy are always exciting. So far I have seen two of their matches, each has one win, guess who will win the next match, must be very exciting to watch.

I thought for sure Xu Xin was gonna ride the momentum of game 2 all the way through, but Gauzy continually surprised me with his solid play and kept it close! Great match!

Love this match. Gauzy played the best I've seen. He attacked Xu Xin hard both on the backhand to try to pin him and also wide to the forehand. Under pressure, Xu's backhand started missing. But Xu seems to be so stable when it comes down to the tight points because he can sidespin everything. Gauzy went for point-enders and missed but he had to try.
Absolute man crush on Gauzy. I have never seen anyone play such mesmerising shots!! What a matchhhhhh 😱👍👌

Quel match ! Les deux joueurs les plus spectaculaires du circuit ! Gauzy et son toucher à la chila, avait un coup droit à la hauteur aujourd'hui et à très bien manœuvré tactiquement. Dommage mais bravo à XX.
I really love the way Simon Gauzy's play with Xu Xin. He really plays aggressively and tries to be the dominant one. I think he handled the situation so good enough but at the end of the day he plays against Xu Xin and the experience speaks. Well done Gauzy! In two or three years he'll be one of the best players in the world.

What a amazing match for both
Beating XX is the highlight of SG's career and I think he was pumped up to another level to meet XX again. The anguish and disappointment of failing his responsibility as the only Chinese in his half of the field eventually propelled XX to his Xuperman status following the loss to SG. However, the same situation and responsibility must weigh on him too this time. As Adam said, he had much more to lose than SG had to gain. This is a good outcome for XX but not bad at all for SG who must have gained so much respect and confidence from his performance at this match.
Gauzy played an excellent game even ha lost eventually.
Both are great players by the way.

Heart stopping game from beginning to end! And the thumbnail made me think Xu Xin might have lost lol Gauzy is unpredictable; you have to play him like you're playing Ma Long or Xu Xin because once he gets momentum he's like a train!
Table tennis being a fast paced sport, it obviously needs better cameras for viewers to enjoy.. hear us out
