Never was a fan of Gauzy, but he completely deserved this victory. Also, I feel like those amazing tricky shots he made had its effect on XX's mind. XX always enjoys being the one who entertains the crowd, but in this game, Gauzy was the one who impressed.
I wouldn't say it was deserved.. he won at the end with a lucky net ball and to top things off he came into the game because xu xin was playing carelessly and gave a set away. It's 90% a loss of Xu Xin and 10% a win of Gauzy. I wouldn't call someone else choking the game away a deserved win. He was very lucky XX didn't finish him off and lost focus. It's more ff XX defeated himself I wouldn't call that a deserved win. A deserved win is were you dominate and your opponent can't come up with answers. This to me was more of a self destruction of xx than a win of Gauzy. You got to be real he was insanely lucky and took advantage of it. Painful loss for XX.
@@___Robin___ Simon is definitely the underdog, he needs tricky shots and perhaps luck to win, but that is not to say that he won by random shots and pure luck without any strategy. Simon's technique was amazing, usually XX is the one who wins far off table shots but here it was Simon. I always heard excuses like "lost focus", "not in his best shape", bored by these explainations. Simon's variations did mess up XX's play style.
Is this real life? As an European I'm so proud of Simon, I literally cant breathe when he won, creative and attacking style, never passive plays, Good game and well played
You cant have a better final than chinese vs chinese. Its absolutely the best table tennis you can see. If boll plays like against the japanese guy it would be an amazing final
Travelator I’m extremely happy for Simon since he’s one of my favourite players and the underdog in this match, but let’s not attribute any of the congratulatory feeling towards the fact that the final won’t be Chinese-Chinese. I understand that some people are tired of finals like that, but the final should be between two of the best players. Simon was simply the better player here, and that’s great, but a Chinese-Chinese final would have been awesome too because it’s best for table tennis to see two of the best in the tournament face-off. I hope Simon makes it to the final.
Simon Gauzy played like there is no tomorrow, what an exciting match and fantastic to watch! Respect to him and good luck in the next round ! Xu xin was undecided sometimes..
I think Xu did not expect much from Gauzy, knowing that the previous matches were not difficult for him at all. At 2:2 and 8:3 he (and many others) thought that is was over... Xu lost the match especially mentally, wondering about Gauzy's astonishing shots Insane match with incredible tension
Gauzy was able to keep xu xin from getting into rallies quite well. His backhand flip catches a ton of side spin, attacking it from the side of the ball, which looks to have gave XX a lot of trouble.
Xu Xin is definitely a freak.. a lefty pen-holder walking on the clouds.. only an amazing talented player as Gauzy, with so many original shots and brave tactics could beat him! A dream came true for the frenchman, and some hope for European supporters.. the China- rest of the world gap is closing up...what an incredible match!!
Gauzy's use of the strawberry flick receive made it really hard for Xu Xin to get in quality attacks. His lobs, chops and counterattacks away from the table were really good too. Big win for him.
I wait for a game like this all my life. A brain killer game. Not that Ma Long, Fan Zendong and others amazing fast rally games, but one that you see the minds boiling. Gauzy is the Dumbledore of table tennis, aways a new trick on the table...and today he did what he knows best, magic on the table. Congratulations Cloud Walker and Simon Dumbledore Gauzy.
XU XIN is my favorited player, best I have to congratz Simon cause his performance tonight is amazing! If he can keep his tension in such high level he can definitely go for a medal or even championship.
Simon! Great Win. Great to see Patrick Chila, as well. Simon no doubt knows about and has seen Chila's great feeling & creativity. He has a little of it himself. That big bending side spin being a perfect example. Viva Chila & Simon!!
My new idol with these extraordinary spins that made a lot of problems his opponent , Xu Xin. And in this match I see one thing- Simon is not arrogant, he's very calm and plays very well. I want to see Simon plays this way always . Really very good job. Number two on the world must finish his adventure in single in this world championships. Incredible. For me this is a big surprise . Congratulations Simon !!! Greetings from Poland!!!
to say xu's forehand isn't working right is one thing, but man!!! some of those amazing placements by Simon, and the strong fighting spirit in loop battles! he deserves the win!
Can't believe people are actually sad over this. For the longest time, it was China v China in the final again and again and again, and once finally something different happens, people start getting salty. This is the best thing that happened in TT for very, very long time.
Gauzy's prediction of Xuxin's shots was impressive.. He was always at the right places at right time.. Gauzy was hitting shots which we usually see Xu Xin hit and connet most of times
Gauzy taking great risks with ripping backhands, strawberries , fantasy receivs(chop block chop whatvever) and keeping rallys short paid off. Also his banana placement into body or wide foerhand was excellent, which got XX into bad positions to loop and got Gauzy the chance to attack. In general XX is unbeatable in pure looping, but he was getting shaky as realised he could loose this game. And His receiving can be considered as weak today and almost almost NO RPB to put pressure on to gauzy.
The Chinese players usually win through in these tight pressure moments because of a positive mindset and rock solid technique. Gauzy refused to capitulate and stood up to Xu Xin's best shots. He proved the Chinese can be beaten.
When Xu Xin was outspinned.🤓🤓 Xu Xin always go down in big events and doesn't know how to deal with high pressure. Ma Long and Zhang Jike will always be ahead.they have super confidence.

I loved Gauzy's game today. Pure passion!
Unbelievable. What a match. Xu was the favorite to win this match but Gauzy surprised. Xu xin's supporter but happy for Gauzy. Keep going Simon
Gauzy played strategically by giving soft returns to the backhand side of XX while giving speed and power once it goes to the forehand side.
indeed he played the old way, short return and variations. I think that s how you should played chinese guys who are too good at top-counter top
Great strategy from Gauzy. Keep attacking Xu's forehand and lots of short balls(great control).
