I stopped table tennis 10 years ago after a defeat in 1/4 final in regional cup, i have to find somewhere to practice again, thanks for reigniting my love for this sport.
I love that people love sports that aren't just basketball, american football or baseball. Nothing wrong with those sports it's just there are sooooo many ways to be talented out there ya know
Basketball and soccer, and more so rugby and baseball, are barely sports. They are easy to play, accessible and for everyone regardless, hence making it attract a larger sum of people. There's actual sports out there that actually take both skill and training, as well as game knowledge. Biggest part of sports in my opinion is muscle memory and reaction speed, not just endurance, stamina and size, which are literally the only 3 things someone needs to start playing basketball and American football, and the only 3 things that dictate a player's career.
American football and baseball is only of interest to Americans :) You're not going to believe this, but america really isn't the center of the universe :)
I remember many years ago watching live table tennis at the Corn Exchange Brighton UK. I've only been once in my life and it was so exciting and so incredibly fast, you get the full experience like any sport when you are there. Maybe one day I'll go again . 😄
@James Bruce How is a sport which is politically important, united North and south korea, Brung peace to the world, Is a sport which is China's national prode, and is For FUN, s**y in anyway, shape or form?
In clubs there are a lot elder players who played similarly like 7:47. They don't really move but they still manage to return all kind of balls effortlessly. Is there any strategy to counter such players?
I don't know, but I guess the only way is to get them further away from the table. I.e., trying to hit the ball to the baseline, and trying to move them side to side, when they get further away, their advantages of having good touch and hitting the ball early are reduced.
yes serve a short ball with sidespin as right handed from your left side across the table to from your point of view enemy right side short behind the net. with sidespin those players have to move which wins u instantly the point and in many cases its just an ace cause they dont move at all for those serves in the beginning of a match. after a while they will reposition themself to get your serves and you have a open left side for a fast serve. So your serve should be at least 90% points if u just train serving
I say hit more junk, push/chop blockblock shots, make the oaf move more and dig up the short return shots, then mix in assortment of crosscourt flick shots.
1# thing is don't move away from the table as much as the other guy, stand your ground. You are feeding their game by doing that, and they will just make you run left and right with a flick of their hand.
@@pingsunday Actually, it's one player (Provincial level), playing against Hou Yin Chou from China, at CCTTA club in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Time 4:05.
Bueno!!! Es el deporte más técnico y bello del mundo. Avalado por la NASA, capaces de pisar la Luna, un campo electromagnético!!!...jajja Desde un ex-federado y amante del tenis de mesa.
5:45 is not a legal serve in competition. You're supposed to throw the ball up in a straight line, not 45 degrees towards your body. (Quite a few serves in this video would qualify as illegal. Refs are a bit too lenient.) 6:44 "This guy" just happens to be Jan Ove Waldner... 7:55 When you hold your racket like you never played before and still dominate the game...
It doesn't matter if you are "fat or skinny", "a girl or a boy", "old or young" you can still be a pro table tennis player. If you are lucky you can get point if you're in a extremely bad luck tide it may also work out for you somehow... That is table tennis and this video proves that.
I liked table tennis more in these videos with the old smaller faster ball ... more long rallies played back from the table - was even more athletic. When they made the official ball bigger and slower "so TV viewers could see it" things became a bit less big and athletic - harder to pass your opponent with an ultra fast shot. Then they changed what it was made of and those curving shots had less curve.

The kid that hid under the table man, no look, and scored. Unbelievable man, much respect for this sport.
I wonder if his playing partner always shot there. If so it was an incredible read!
