.‼️Everyone locates the series faster with their original names‼️ I don't know why they have the bad habit of translating everything, seriously what is the need to do that 😒.
I love Stark honestly. Because he basically represents a normal person. Like fighting a dragon, or a demon? Those are things most people would be terrified of fighting.
It's the most fascinating representation of demons I've seen in a while. They're an apex predator spices that evolved over time to look and sound like humans in order to hunt them.
Same, I love this idea of demons being animals. You almost can't blame them, because it's just their nature. They have evolved to hunt humans, so that is what they do. Like a tapeworm or a leech, they just do what their physiology tells them to. Such a clever rendition of demons.
I love how this anime doesn't make characters do dumb things just to move the plot forward. Graf Granat figures out that Frieren wouldn't kill a guard instead of being made into some sort of tyrannical buffoon and the story is so much better for it.
Here a funfact: Since the anime just recalled the title of the show with episode 08, I will try to explain to people who may not be familiar with Japanese why it is such a big deal, just a little FYI if anyone's interested. The Japanese title for this show is "Sousou no Frieren" which is also the title of episode 08. As you can see there is a short description "Sousou no" in front of our protagonist's name. Sousou (葬送) is a word that is formed by combining 2 characters each with their own meaning, 葬 "to bury" and 送 "to send off". Usually, the word has a sad and grieving nuance, but in some contexts, it also means "to kill/to end". At first, most people assumed that the title is like that because Frieren outlives all her friends, so she "sees them off" one by one. But at this point in the story, the demon reveals that it is actually a title given to her by demons because she has "sent so many demons to their deaths". People were SHOOK when this double meaning was revealed in the manga, it was just so cool lol I saw that English subtitles translated it into "Frieren the slayer", while still badass, it just doesn't fully show how the author played with words in the title, and I just think it's a pity that some people will not be able to appreciate it due to stuff lost in translation. IMO experiencing the realization that the title was not as simple as I thought was one of the highlights when reading the manga. But translation is hard, I totally get that. I'm assuming a lot of people already know this, but just in case, I wanted to create this post, because I really love this show and I'm so happy that the anime is getting so much attention. The anime is doing such a good job, and I look forward to it every week. Cheers. www.reddit.com/r/Frieren/comments/17ifamo/double_meaning_of_the_title_sousou_no_frieren/?rdt=44310 BUT you shouldnt use this in a normal conversation. "To kill/to end" meaning is only in this Anime.
That is so cool! Thank you for sharing, I figured it had some importance but not to this extend, why I’ve been including the full name in the title. ☺️
If you remember from episode 4 there was dialogue about flamme being around 1000 years ago. Not sure its ever talked about how old Frieren was when Flamme found her though. So we know Frieren is at least 1000+ years old.
Think of Demons like our current rendition of A.I. They can perform incredible feats of knowledge and replicate humanity through that. But all they're doing is drawing from the human knowledge uploaded to them and giving the optimal response through what they've been given. Just because they give optimal responses though doesn't mean they understand the core of where those responses come from.
Frieren shows you can have a cowardly or scared character and actually have great character growth and learn to love the character through that flaw. Lookin at you Zenitsu
Himmel got the statue idea because he sees how Frieren is trying to hold onto Flamme's proof of existence. Himmel felt her loneliness in the opening scene. THAT'S why he wants the statues. Showing off his handsomeness is obviously a cover🙂
you know....now that i'm rewatching some episods via reactions , i realize 1 thing : Frieren couldn't have been flying in lugner's flashback , because human mages couldn't fly during the subjugation of the demon king
@@marctorres7182aura started becoming active again , only after himmel died , and we know from the episode 9 (when lugner said that this time she doesn't have the others to protect her) , that last time frieren met aura , it was with the party of heros. Not only that , but aura herself said that frieren is unchanged in regards of mana , since 80 years ago in episode 10. So....they obviously haven't met since the hero journey to subjugate the demon king. So unless , lugner randomly met frieren in the meantime , he was probably talking about 80 years back , when mages didn't actually had flight yet
A few points. You don't know when Lügner's flashback was. That hummanity had not yet discovered to fly in general doesn't mean that Frieren or few individuals couldn't do it. She could have learned how to fly in her journey to fight the demon king. Also, she is not even flying but hovering above the ground... seems picky but is a huge difference.
I think the barrier Flamme cast in that scene is the same as protects to city now. She cast a barrier on the sapling then that allowed a city to exist here in a 1000 years
15:12 yes. your BOSS said she was the ONLY obstacle. so obviously you, little upstart, figured you'd take care of someone your BOSS dared not touch. real brainiac, here.

Frieren is over 1,000 years old. Back in Episode 4, when we first get introduced to Flamme and learn that she was Frieren's master, Frieren said "Even after 1,000 years, I'm still dancing in the palm of my master's hand." That was during the scene where Frieren was getting ready to open up the massive tree that was hiding Flamme's actual, legitimate grimoire. That was the scene where we learned about Aureole, AKA "Heaven"

Weird how demons who use human language only as a manipulative weapon, actually use it to communicate between each other. That's just weird, and illogical. Means it's not only manipulative weapon. But contradicts the plot which says it is.
Just because we, the audience, know what the demons are saying to one another, doesn't mean they're actually using human speech. In fact it would make more sense if they weren't, since they were speaking pretty openly about their plots and such and could easily be overheard.

To play devil's advocate, that doesn't answer her phrase when she wondered her age. "Over a thousand" isn't an age. It's a range. Nobody knows, at least as of now in the series, exactly how old she is.
@@Ichigoku15 I think that why i had a difficult time up to that point retaining it, not having a specific number to be like oh she’s “…” it slipped my mind they gave a range.
