Stark is such a sweet boy, he was so scared of the dragon back then and still faced it to protect the people of the town
Something I noticed is that, while Fern saw Heiter, and her vision was of him trying to make her lower guard. Frierens vision of Himmel just said "shoot me" so she literally didn't have a single thought in her mind/memory of him trying to deceive her.
Its a little thing but Frieren pats Stark on the back when she compliments him after the fight because that's how Eisen comforted/showed affection to her too. Same with her patting Fern on the head because its how Heiter comforted her.
Imagine Stark with confidence? The future is bright.

I absolutely love the little hints you put in the beginning of what to expect from you further in the episodes. The "I got my tissues" part had me loudly say "YES!" 😂
After episode 1 and 2 I wasn’t taking chances with this show 😆
It's not that Stark is a Coward. It's that he's Afraid, and there's a complete difference.
I believe that the definition of Cowardice may be that people are unable to act through fear, they allow it to overcome them to a point where even if they have a chance to succeed at what they're attempting, the possibility of failure or the fear of it overwhelms them.
The Definition of Bravery, on the other hand is the ability to act, even in the face of fear of loss or failure, in my opinion.

You have to remember that frieren spent like 6 years with fern and heater training fern and deciphering the text. From 20 years after himmils death to 26 years. We then time skip 2 years later to now 28 years after himself death. That would be 8 years, and if fern is jist turning 16 now, she has spent half of her life with frieren at this point.
Frieren could probably handle the dragon pretty easily, but considered it a great learning experience for her apprentice and later Stark.

The voice acting from Eisen, when he say that his fear brought him so far is soooooooooo blatantly good, you can hear the fear in his voice. (fear brought me this far one of the best OST in Frieren) Fern could probably interest in Stark because.. The Animation from frieren siting near to stark is the smoothest i've ever witness. Madhouse is flexing the most subtle things and i love it.

he also plays Adachi of Dangers in my Heart, that blonde kid who constantly spouts perverted and villainous things. ever since i learned that fact, every time I heard that brat say something that made me question his humanity, my brain automatically thought "now imagine Himmel saying that to Frieren" and then I'd go aaaa (thats me yelling)

Not gonna lie, that dragon that Eisen was vs. with the flowy mane was freaking amaaaaaaaaazing looking.
It always amuses me when reactors downplay the fact that he was facing down a whole ass DRAGON lmao, I'd be scared shitless too, besides, I'm pretty sure the dragon knew on some level how strong Stark actually was, and was staying away from the town for that reason rather than on a whim
for all intents and purposes, Frieren is himmel, fern is heiter and Stark is Eisen. :) The demon-killing party, V2. :P

3:00 fun fact, in the dub version of this scene after Fern wakes up, she said "that was fast" implying that the dream she just had was actually Heiter paying her a visit like he said he would. It was a nice line

Unfortunately, being ridiculously strong doesn't mean you won't be frightened. Training is good and all, but real combat is a different thing. It makes sense for Stark to be scared of fighting the dragon, especially since he's never fought a monster before that point.

No. Frieren's memory of Himmel was simply too perfect. That was the biggest mistake the monster could have made. Himmel is just too good and pure to try and deceive anyone, and Frieren knew that. He would never lie to Frieren and he would always, without fail, lead her to do the right thing. That's how she remembered him. The phantom of Himmel was just too real.

Why is so many people confused about the "half Fren's life" comment? Is it a language thing? Because in my non-english brain that statement makes perfect sense but I've seen countless english speaking reactors be confused.
What’s your native language? It threw me off a bit because if someone says half of their life or something along those lines I naturally assume they’re way older, let’s say average person lives into their 70-80s, half of their life would be 30-40.
I think most netive English speakers would understand this quickly. I think it's more that you see Fern grow up in a couple of epsodes and people sometimes have trouble thinking that that half hour represents 9 years in the story@@AliAnimus

@@AliAnimus so in case you were confused about the half of Fern's life statement; Fern was 8 when she first met Frieren, they spent 4 years deciphering that book for Heiter until he passed which Fern was 12 at that time. They time skipped 2 years later and Fern is 14 when they were looking for the blue flower. When they finally see Eisen, Fern is 16 up to this point. So basically Fern has been with Frieren for half of her life now. 8 when they met, 16 now.
