I love the history of the soul food meals my Black friends invited me to eat with them, man the food is so good, just the best I have eaten in many years, and the entertainment matched up excellent, Blues of New Orleans and Mississippi blue grass, the best friendship a life can have...

@@Peggieskitchen Sounds Good!! I had a wonderful day with some of my Senior living friends. We celebrated one of our tenants Birthday 🎂🎉 out on the beautiful patio where we all live. I live in Senior living housing. We cooked out on the grill ribs, steak 🥩 and hot dogs. Sides were deviled eggs, potatoe salad 🥗, and watermelon 🍉. For desert we had Amish blueberry dream pie and a chocolate strawberry 🍓 Birthday cake. We had a wonderful time celebrating Life together on Labor Day. It was a beautiful day outside for the occasion. I'm glad you had a peaceful day with your Gran. Leftovers are the best! Looking forward to mine today!!

When you layered that cheese, into the Mac & Cheese, I knew you meant business…. LOVE IT. I grew up in the military in DOD (Dept of Defense) schools with American families literally across the world. On the weekends, we would all cook our “home specialties” and BBQ together.
My best friend in middle school was half Black & Korean while living In Okinawa, Japan. This food reminds me of what her mom & dad would proudly & lovingly cook-some of my best childhood memories Thank you so so very much for bringing it back home to me. Sending you much love and take care!

She’s a real cook cutting the sweet potatoes with the knife towards the inside of her hand. I would have sliced through the potato straight through my hand. lol!!!
My Daddy cooked that way too. Never saw him use a cutting board to chop.
That's the way my Momma taught me. I learned different when I went to culinary school. I still cut potatoes this way though.

I know you have ur menu made out for Thanksgiving you probably start prepping next month I know lol 😆 my Aunt used too prepping months earlier and put that food in the deep freezer and took it out the day before Thanksgiving and heat it up tasted like she prepared it the same day.

We did Friday night dinners at my grandparents house.. this is what I grew up on.. I was to young to remember how my grandma made her collar greens.. this was how she did it. She used hammocks.. thank you for bringing this to me!!
