First time I have heard PIDs described like that... sort of clicked with me... P's are present-error, (what is going on with the quad NOW) I's are past errors (trying to correct what you just did wrong) D's are trying to predict future errors (behavior after you make the move)
Great video. This video will help me alot! I'm completely new so I'm still learning to fly in acro mode. Mainly trying to get a feel for the horizon mode. So my question is... Can pids be tuned in horizon or does it have to be in acro? Thank you!
twitch0601krytter Sorry for the delay! I don’t know how I missed your comment. Being in horizon would probably mess things up because you will have the quads accelerometer/gyro trying to level itself out after each maneuver
Nice! I will go for it as soon as my acro skills feel good. Where can I order the fx900 camera and maybe a mount for the mullet mod also? I like your Whoop!!
Hi.. I just starts to learn PIDs setup for my brushed tiny whoop. Before that I fly with default setting only (I'm using Silverware btw). I've followed your steps to tune it.. got that tight oscillation on the end of flips & rolls (the D), also got that locked feeling when throttling up(the I). For tight spaces/indoor flights (the one that have constant roll/yaw inputs) it feel quite good (in my opinion). But for outdoor flight, sometimes the quad have a blip(??) it's like pitching up and losing altitude, even on a straight plain flight.. sometimes it also happen after a 180 degrees yaw.. This blip never happen when I fly with default PIDs.. so I guess I miss something with the tuning... could you help me what value should I re-tune to compensate the problem? TIA Regards
@@abrahamtan9704 thanks bro. You're right, I didn't tune my I-term right. But I think I'm getting better on PID tuning over year.. I also learn to tune my rates.. and this video is still one of my favourite about PID tuning, especially tiny whoop. :)
Have you tried FW version 3.1.6 (released 2/27)? I'd love to hear your opinion of it. Any chance you can post your tune so I can get a solid starting point? I've never actually used my BB because I can't get anywhere with any of the FW version's stock tunes. If I could just find a good starting point that I can tweak to my preferences I think I might actually really like this FC.
SoLongSidekick just to give you a reference, with my setup my Ps are right around high 40s low 50s for pitch and roll, Is are in the 30 to 40 range, and my Ds are in the low 20s.
SoLongSidekick and I have not tried that firmware. But I have tried other 3.1. firmwares with no luck. But it could have been for some other reasons, like power kv motors and faster rates. I'm going to revisit that issue and make a part two to this video 👍
any tips on flashing beta flight? I have a bee core and it connects to Clean flight no problem but it won't flash beta flight. it keeps saying serial failed to open. But it always connects to Clean flight. I did try shorting the boot loaded pads but it didn't do anything.
SteveRCPilot maybe try turning on the manual baud rate? Leave the number the same, just make sure the slider is on. Did that with my dodo fc yesterday and it worked
Just throw a acro/rate mode on a aux switch and hover LOS for a little while wobble back and forth and get a feel for the quad... I did it this way now I have removed every other mode and forced my self to use acro!
I’m in acro with air mode. Being in horizon would probably mess things up because you will have the quads accelerometer/gyro trying to level itself out after each maneuver
I actually saw that interview he had with Jessie Perkins , the "inventor" of the Tiny Whoop. Jessie said all the best TW racers used leveling modes. Having practiced a lot with both, I gotta say I can rip around the house much more accurately with leveling mode since only have to focus on elevation and turning.
I just started tuning mine and I am running into problems as soon as I add any "I". It starts oscillating when I punch full throttle. Do you know what is causing this? Im using a BeeBrain FC and 19000kv motors.
right now my R is 38 and my P is 40. my first try It was R 55 and P 60 so I restarted like you said. It seems to be perfect when I'm just hovering but as soon as I punch the throttle I start to get the oscillations
vapearoo com that weird. What props are you using? And have you tried the stock PIDs for 3.0.1? Which brings me to another question...are you using the 3.0.1 firmware?
great explanation! but are you not using any of all the other tuning settings? like feed forward and all the switches?
Dude you’re awesome! Thanks for the video.
Explained in a way that is very easy to understand and follow👌
by far the simplest way ive heard tuning explained. thanks!
IKA's DIY RC thank you! I’m hope it helped
Excellent tutorial! Really simplified it for me. Thanks!
This best video by far ❤
haha glad you got around to fixing yours like you wanted 😆
Yeah it's so much better now!
Dude I watched this months ago. I had no idea it was you!!
KYTE FPV yup! It's me lol
Thank you very much for this video it helps me

I's aren't fixing past errors. I tries to predict outside forces (like wind) from affecting the aircraft.
I believe you much more than me homie. Full admit I still don't know PIDs & get by with a little help from my friends. Just love to fly.
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah buddy! great video brotha man....monday or tuesday im getting a beecore and i cant wait to tune her up!
Sweet! The difference between stock PIDs and a tuned whoop can be pretty substantial. Good luck and let me know how it works for ya!

Where does the printed sheet on PID tuning you included at around 4 minutes come from? I'd like to keep a copy for reference
Murray Levi I made. Go ahead and use it if you'd like!!
I have the same set up. Do you have a screenshot of your final PIDs and Rates?
What should I do if I need a lot of trim to stay level in angle mode, but none in acro?
calibrate your accelerometer and gyro on a level surface
neutron how do I trim the yaw in stick commands
Good video. Can you do an update for tuning whoops? Thanks!
Nice! I will go for it as soon as my acro skills feel good. Where can I order the fx900 camera and maybe a mount for the mullet mod also? I like your Whoop!!
Maxpakts tinywhoop.com sells the camera and mullet canopies.

Hi, I'm a little late but I think you should try to increase I on pitch

Love the Cisco hold music
you are 2 cool for scool.
woop, woop, woop away!
i wil fly FPV´ today

+1👍 new sub, thanks, would this work on non-whoop bigger frames too?
bueller bueller bueller

SteveRCPilot you need to use zadig to connect your fc as dfu in order to flash.
What mode are you tuning in? Would this work in horizon mode? Newb and not comfortable with airmode yet.
Just throw a acro/rate mode on a aux switch and hover LOS for a little while wobble back and forth and get a feel for the quad... I did it this way now I have removed every other mode and forced my self to use acro!

Thanks! I'll definitely work on improving my acro mode.

please tell me again how you tune P first with D and I = 0 :D:D:D
a pid with D=0 is a free oscillating spring , probably your quad simply fly away
I just started tuning mine and I am running into problems as soon as I add any "I". It starts oscillating when I punch full throttle. Do you know what is causing this?
Im using a BeeBrain FC and 19000kv motors.
vapearoo com your Ps might be too high. What are your P values?
right now my R is 38 and my P is 40. my first try It was R 55 and P 60 so I restarted like you said. It seems to be perfect when I'm just hovering but as soon as I punch the throttle I start to get the oscillations
Also the D values are both at 15. rolls and flips feel great with almost no bounce but as soon as I mess with the I value I start to run into problems
vapearoo com i said if your D gets to high you should restart. If the 55 and 60 felt good, go back to those maybe
vapearoo com that weird. What props are you using? And have you tried the stock PIDs for 3.0.1? Which brings me to another question...are you using the 3.0.1 firmware?
Can you also explain what happens or show the negative effects when you raise your values too high
Pete Busch great idea!!! I will put that on my list of must dos ✌️
you 8k 2k or have 32k on?
do you tune in horizon or acro mode?
Ben Fong I tune in acro
Hi mr neutron! Im a fan of your... Can i have some pic of your with my name my name is JN AND Vanicx is my fpv name... Thank u so much...
Dude shave the stash!
Not practice, only teory.i think its no good
this is a wannabe mr. steele
Alex Weijers lmao definitely steel inspired mustache, but no I don’t wanna be him
like the vid tho
@@neutronfpv It's OK. Steele inspired me to grow a mustache too. haha
Steele wannabe?
Freshly Fried again, yes it was Steele inspired but no I don’t want to him. Do you have any questions or comments about the content of this video?
