Not only is it a great race in a fantastic series. The commentary is second to none. All the explanation of strategy and the mechanics of the car add to the excitement and drama.
Australian motorsports commentary is really second to none. Leigh Diffey is, hands down, the very best in the world. Shame the septics stole him, but he does make IndyCar watchable.
I remember getting home from Westfield Parramatta and seeing Brighty leading the race not yet making his stop and this was one of the more exciting 1000s I've seen to date.
To be fair, the biggest difference between V8s and NASCAR is that V8 drivers have to carry their balls around the paddock in wheelbarrows. Like, I love NASCAR, but can you imagine either of the Busch brothers agreeing to attempt to tame the mountain? There's not even room for Joey Logano to deliberately spin people out when he can't win cleanly there!
I know it was a ford that won and im a holden fan always but to me this was the 2nd best race out of every bathurst iv watched since 1999 best was 2003 bathurst 1000 in my eye
As a Ford man thinking how dominate 888 were at this time and how stupid Ford was to piss of 888 over their car colours (red) and not long into the future they switched to the dark side. Oh the pain
For me, sticking to dry tires was pretty obvious with how little rain there was. Lose time pitting for wet tires and then lose more needing to pit for dry tires again.
In my opinion why couldn't the directors choose to keep the warm up Laps going. Then when number 50 was cleared. Then they could have made the start, once the car was cleared!
Agreed! Should have delayed the start, moved the car off track and done another warmup lap. Silly to have the whole pack racing past with a car right there.
Whincup is the only driver I've see admit that his team focused more on his car than his teammate Lowndes car after 2007 very rare admission by any driver
Who is that guy commentating some of the time, during the add breaks? Just crap. As exciting as a wet towel. Never heard him before, or since. Thank god!
Commentators say ''up to 300kph'' but in reality even the best cars get to about 292kph BRIEFLY for not more than a second or two before braking for the chase! 🙄
@@damonwells1132 those cars which did close to 300kph it would be LESS than 1 second, you briefly see the speed and in less than the blink of eye GONE!!!!!!!!!!!
Matt White and Neil Crompton the main commentators. Mark Beretta and "Daniel" (not sure on surname) the pit reporters. Luke West filling in during the ad breaks.
Nope, he kept his job until a couple of years ago. Apparently, one of his proudest achievements in Motorsport was mentoring Michael Masi in becoming a race director. You know, Michael Masi, the clown who turned Formula One into a parade of red flags and race/championship fixing. Says everything you need to know about the fella who mentored him. Starting a race with a stationary car in the firing line of a blind 90° turn is one of the most ridiculous decisions in motosport history. Especially because it's one of the fastest 90° corners in the world.
Is there a chance to reupload this without the boring sounding fella who commentates when Matty and Crompo are on commercial breaks? That bloke might be a nice guy away from the microphone but he’s an awful commentator.

Australia has one of best racing car tracks in world
Man the ba/bf falcon v8 Supercars look SSOO DAM GOOD 😩
Yep and the fg later on
This Blows F1 out of the water. Just the soundtrack alone....😎

When the last 20 laps are better than the entire Monaco GP.
Solution, hold a F1 race on the mountain
Hemorrhoid surgery with a rusty spoon & no painkillers is better than the Monaco GP...
This would be a better Australian Grand Prix than Albert Park
That’s not a high bar. I’m a big F1 fan, but some races are always utter snooze fests, especially Monaco. Quali is basically the race.

Best Bathurst 1000 for Ford since 1977
Back when it was grouse racing.
Here goes a good night
Might be a sick day tomorrow
When the last 20 of the 161 lap race is far more entertaining than most of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Season.
And f1 combined
Love it. And I live in the heart of nascar

We need 2008 bathurst too
One of the great Bathurst's. Along with 2006, 2014, & I think it was 2019.
Fabulosa carrera en un hermoso circuito 👍👍👍🇪🇦🇦🇷
During the ad breaks they should’ve just left it quite so we can hear the cars
this was the first bathurst i ever watched!
Crompton "THE RACE HAS GONE OFF " :) GOLD
I can't believe these are on DVD I been buying them
RIP Allan Simmonsen and Jason Richards
Mark Skaife mentions in the Rusty's Garage podcast that this crash was the one that made him announce his retirement from full time driving
5:21 only a Holden craps itself before starting the race, omfg ,
There hasn't been a Holden power-plant race at the mountain since 1993
The Chev "craps itself"
Waiting for Sandown 2002 🤞🤞
I know it was a ford that won and im a holden fan always but to me this was the 2nd best race out of every bathurst iv watched since 1999 best was 2003 bathurst 1000 in my eye
Fords had the horsepower in 99 & still found a way to not get on the podium...that was the most disappointing for me.
89 was the first one I watched 👍
How was 03 the best. One sided for the whole day
2018 was best for me… Lowndes stalking Reynolds for so long and eventually prevailing both physically and mentally… Old Bull Young Bull
As a Ford man thinking how dominate 888 were at this time and how stupid Ford was to piss of 888 over their car colours (red) and not long into the future they switched to the dark side. Oh the pain
There are three things that are epic: Wagner's Ring Cycle, The Ashes Tests, and the Bathurst 1000.
No argument there
RIP HOLDEN
I feel ya. Watched the '93 Bathurst. Larry Perkins won using the Holden V8 afterwards they forced all the Holdens to run the Chev. Sad.
@@colinstewart1432 Best car this series ever had IMO
Tho the BA/BF looks awesome 😁
a race Winterbottom would love to forget

Surprised they left no 50 car there at the start

what i thought today wouldve been like
I say the 2006-2009 djr was the best team not to win the championship
Kinda guess that a Bathurst was coming, but I thought it was going to be 2005.
I really don't mind either way 2007 or 2005.
Why 05? Did something special happen?
@@officialWWM Yes. Do you want to be spoil or not?
hypésion yes, because there's no way I'm sitting through 8 hours of it to find out!
Man’s still waiting 3 years later to learn what happened lmao
Oh Hell yes
Is that grant Denyer?
Who is the wounder talking in the ad breaks?
1:47:15 😂😂👌
Tang say thank you son for re load 2007
Bright wouldve won if they fitted wets
I am not convinced... Holden or Ford.... torana or escort.... depends how fast you want to go I guess..... so.... turbo xr50 FPV fg should do it
Who is that guy commentating some of the time, during the add breaks? Just crap. As exciting as a wet towel. Never heard him before, or since. Thank god!
Luke West, magazine editor by trade according to another comment. Could've found a more exciting commentator pulling a random bloke off the street...

How much ready
If I was Jason Bright I would have put on wets
5:42:39 Motorsport is cruel. Hindsight says Brighty shouldn't have gone for cold slicks at the end there.
Worst thing about this particular race was the rubbish commentary when the main guys had a break
Commentary was hopeless without the normal commentators
They shouldve just left it with no commentary at those points, just the sweet V8 soundtrack
I thought that too, I don’t know who that fella is but he’s not cut out for commentary.
Dont watch it than.
Gun under table new one
Did that race director ever get a kicking,, for taking that gamble with the parked car?
Nope, he kept his job until a couple of years ago. Apparently, one of his proudest achievements in Motorsport was mentoring Michael Masi in becoming a race director.
