Reversed-grid races eh?
Thank you Goodwood, for 2 full days of classic motorsports,

Really enjoyed it,
Perfect warm up for the Motogp in the evening
This race reminds me of some of the fantastic saloon car races at Crystal Palace 😁
Simply superb footage, commentary and action.
Seems to me that if you want to win, prep an American Muscle car. Dont waste your time any money prepping something else . They should really be in a class/race of their own.
I feel it would’ve been a different story if it had been wet.
It was a sprint race so no refuelling if it was longer race the smaller cars come into there own.
Fully agree. This isn't fair racing at all. The circuit is suited to bigger power cars
I completely agree with you Peter, they definitely should be in a separate race.
But if ya want style and fun, choose anything BUT a Yank tank!
I'd raise a Moggie or TR7 for fun in a race like this hehe
Brilliant. Could watch this all day.
Always a pleasure to enjoy these kind of races❤
I miss those older Capri's. Hardly ever see them in the U.S. anymore.
A Capri was my first car in 1987.
Highlands Green, 1.6L.
Such a long time ago. 💚
Superb, real motor racing !!!
Love this bring back the minis ❤❤❤
Love those Capris . That mustang looks amazing. They need to include a Aussie falcon in the mix.
This is amazing!!!! Great to see all tte vintage muscle cars blasting round the track❤
That no.33 Brut Capri is a lovely livery
Those mustangs are gorgeous
Great race. Great post.
I thoroughly enjoy the Goodwood races, but wish the Mini's had their own series to compete in. They're amazingly competitive, but just seem to get squashed by the bigger cars. Carry on, I'll be watching and enjoying either way 😁
That's really fun !
Molto bello complimenti
Great stuff 😊🏁
As you just said, the sound of the cars is wonderful. It's a shame we cannot get rid of the commentary.
You can. There is always a no-commentary stream on the Goodwood website. They mention it often during the commentary stream on the day.
Awesome race 👏
Gordon’s Spice was my favourite Spice Girl.
I love his aftershave
1:10 CODE BROWN! CODE BROWN!
Not the best ever shape Mustang for my taste, but that thing is a beast!
Happily there are so many cars racing experts in youtube, providing so interesting messages (even if they absolutely dont know what they re sayin about) 😂😂😂
THAT...was a bit of alright , mes amis !
Instant like!
ahahaha the Minis at the start with the Top Gear trio Alfa Romeo strategy of blocking the entire racetrack. hilarious
This definitely isn't fair racing. I remember in the 1960s when the 7 litre Ford Galaxys started we tried to get them banned and I'm still of the same opinion. Cars that fast and powerful are always going to win however skillful the other drivers are, as this race once again proved.
How come 2 Minis are in a front row? Amazing 1st lap!!!
It was a reverse grid from the previous race
Always fantastic motor sport racing at Goodwood every time
Nick Swift...the Beast....give him 1000rpms more and another 300cc and he'll beat everyone else in these races,,,,,,Yep....
Son autos muy diferentes..cual es el reglamento?
Please post the other races:)
Most of them are already up!
These cars look so much nicer that the crap made today
Rose coloured glasses 😊
What happened to Nick Swift 😭
Driveshaft pulled out of a CV joint
The lack of Volvo 240 on track saddens me. Seems like a fitting field for it
There was one racing there last year.
@@markwilliamson2864 Jack Young
@@Mastermindyoung14 😊😎
And no French, German or Italian cars!
There was a BMW 530i in there.
What happened to the E-Type safety car???
That's Revival.
@@GoodwoodRR Thanks, that makes sense!
J'veux une caisse comme ça
This track suits them but if it was at croft or another more twisty circuit they would of struggled
Real car racing - makes F1 look tame
Last year's Spice Gordon was waaaay better.
But what about the Gordon Spice?
Mr bean where are you?
Don't hate me for asking, but are these races hosted anywhere without commentary? I sure would love to actually hear the cars instead of the commentators, as helpful as they are.
There is always a no-commentary stream on the Goodwood website.
@@UKMechanic I had no idea, thanks for letting me know!
Why so many American cars and no French, German or Italian cars?
Safety car is German😉
If you look at other Goodwood races you’ll see BMW’s, Porsches, Alfas, and even a Tatra
Mini vs Mini ✅ fair race not with muscle car ❌
I agree, it seems madness that huge V8 powered cars run in the same class as minis. That said it is a lot of fun seeing the minis battling with them in the tighter sections of the track.
Lovely to see the skill of the Yank cars 5.7 V8 managing to keep ahead of the 1 litre mini,s…😊 would be much better racing if the Yanks where removed the entire commentary was on cars I,m disinterested in shame..
Agreed, I'd much rather see the minis up against Imps, Cortinas etc.
🇺🇦
Funny how they have to throw these overblown American slugs in with the smaller engined cars. They wouldn’t even get within two laps of the E-Types and Cobras or GTO’s.
You know the rovers are v8s don’t you.
Also e types, cobras and gtos are 50s-60s tech. Rubbish handling compared to the much wider and more powerful 70s mustangs and Cameros.
Admittedly I don’t get why they are in this category.
The minis beat the v8 falcons at Bathurst in the day but they were all available here in Australia.
In the 60's Dan Gurney shipped a stock Chevy Impala over here, competed and qualified on pole in the British Touring cars. The Impala had a full interior such was it's advantage in power even against MK2 Jags and the like.
Sadly the muscle cars of this era (70s) were somewhat stifled by new, over zealous emissions regulations in the US and aren't quite as potent.
I used to look down my nose at big, simple American stuff but as I've gotten older and better informed I realise they have their strengths and charm.
Funny, no.
Fun, yes.
Each and every car has its pros and cons.
But I would not call those American cars “slugs”. They were pretty fast. Not exactly a finely balanced “Sports “ car, true, but fast.
🚗😁🇺🇸 “Merica “❗️
Should run classes.....rhat would be fair.just saying
The race is for cars raced in the ‘70s and ‘80s British Touring car championship. So, if it raced it is allowed. However, racers being racers, if they want to win a cup they buy a yank tank. The Rovers and Capris have been eclipsed now, it is a bit of a shame. When it rains it’s a different story though…
😢😢😢 No more Alfas, no more Abarth, no 250 LM, what happened?
Different class,
Watch the Revival meeting in September,
Or check out last year's event,
Would be slightly weird to see a 250 LM race in a Group 1 touring car race...
Get rid of the leader board from the screen....
The hugely more powerful US cars win over the field.
Boring.
People say yanks don't handle, they obviously do!
They've always competed here, so what's wrong with that?
Fair game against nimble English saloons
_"People say yanks don't handle, they obviously do!"_
With a ton of modifcations they handle OK-ish, but the minis are still all over them on a twisty circuit.
Poor grid, quite silly commentary, tedious V8 domination. Same old same old.
Absolutely sick and tired of the Yank slugs being allowed to race at Goodwood or in any other UK historic series. They were never sold or homologated over here. They should be banned from historic racing.
bro google british touring 60-70. These cars have been here and raced.
They raced in period, though as with every car in the field they are not to the same spec. Elegability scrutineers can't spend the time required to check every detail.
If it rains, as I'm sure you know, the story of a race is very different.
Then don't watch, very simple!
@@gothicpagan.666 I'd bet in those days, these American cars handled like crap. Now they have the best modern custom suspension modifications. I know we cannot have a true level playing field with the Goodwood historic races. They are all out to have fun most importantly.
This is actually how they ran in this era of touring cars. These cars do visit other circuits in the UK at historic race events and some of the tracks like Oulton Park do favour the smaller powered cars over the much more powerful V8 ones.
People who drive minis are like a small dogs, annoying
People who drive yank tanks are ignorant, fat and disgusting. There, I can do pointless generalisations too, does that help?
It seems to me that the on screen leader board is only updated once every 2 laps by carrier pigeon. that's ok, cause the describers just keep talking on and on, about last race last week, and what might have been.
It only updates as the cars go over the start/finish line.
