I only have the one printer, so its always a little extra stressful to work on it, because if something goes wrong the single most useful tool to fix the printer, would have been the printer.
I've had to do a bit of repairs on mine over... I think its getting close to three years.
Gone through a few built surfaces, A new heat block, heat cartridge and thermistor, had to replace both my fans, and I'm at the point of having spare linear bearings on hand because those are starting to wear out.
But at the same time, I've also put probably 80Kg of filament through it. I'd say its doing a pretty good job.

Great video! I was looking into upgrading the bed with a flex bed as well! I just got the printer used and it has a broken surface. I have friends who own bigger printers, but the quality of this one pretty much tops theirs =D

Yeah. It's a little weirdo, but I'll be damned if it doesn't consistently produce impressive results

I almost bought one when they came out and have been thinking about picking one up recently. My full size Monoprice Duplicator i3 V 2.1 burned up it's Melzi board a while back. It was / is also a pretty decent machine but sadly it's a known flaw and mine ended up burning up. Sadly now days finding a good motherboard replacement costs almost as much as a brand new modern machine.

    Few tips for better quality
Dont use spring tensioners for gt2 belt
Manualy tension the belt without any springs, that will eliminate ghosting , dimension problems etc
Use capricorn ptfe tube (oryginal one) it have 1.9mm hole
And can work with 250*C + where average ptfe can only work up to 240*C
    Best upgrade for extruder
Oryginal bondtech gears...not cloned ones , oryginal ones are made out of tool steel with 0.01mm accuracy ... Average cloned ones cost 70-80% of the oryginal bondtech but are made out of cheap steel with slopy fiting and wrong dimmensions
Most of them cant push properly carbon fibre filaments
And even worse, after few hundred grams (for example petg+cf15) tooth disapear on then or few kg of standard PLA can destroy the tooth :|
    Tip for the hotend
    Cloned e3d v6
But with bore heatbrake + capricorn ptfe
Then good nozzle and heatblock for pt100 case (not pt100...average 100k ohm in pt100 case-steel tube)
Work avesome and no maitenance needed for few hundred hours of pla + petg + abs
With extra tip... Unscreew fast tube connector from hotend by 0.5- 1 turn
    Push ptfe all the way
    Then tight it back
And before u push filament into the extruder push it trough any plastic sponge for dust cleaning = less maintenance needed with the nozzle cleaning
    For settings
Always go with the lowest possible retraction
But change the speed untill u have good results
In case of retraction less is better for quality :)
For infill always set thicker wall of infill than the nozzle so it will be stronger = less infill needed
    Hope it will help
    Ps.
    Sorry for my English
Im making custom diy 3d printers for 8 years now (for working with composites etc) with ones that can print peek etc in heated chamber :)

I picked up one of these as a shelf queen for 10 bucks. You mentioned the SD card in the beginning. Mine didn’t have one. Can I get one of those somewhere that already have the programming on it?

I have one of these🎉 I need a new bed cover, where can I get one?
When the printer starts the head will move over to the car right and make a loud rattling sound. Any idea what that is?
    Thank you

Best upgrade I made was getting rid of the awful chrome control knob and replaced it with a 3D printed one. The original one is so slippery and hard to use.

I am looking at getting a used Monoprice Mini Select v2 for 50. You mentioned an out dated memory card what does that mean? This would be my first experance with 3D printing

    • @GoodRoads
      @GoodRoads  Год назад

I can't remember the details off the top of my head, but it needs a very specific size and format of memory card that, for the most part, isn't really made any more since storage technology has advanced so much. A google search should be able to tell you what to look for

It is very difficult although I've been playing with Overture's Highspeed TPU lately and that works MUCH better with bowden setups
