90% of my home is negative space, it drives everyone else crazy but I love being able to give my place a total go-over cleaning in less than an hour, which I can easily do because there is no "Clutter" to move out of the way to dust, vacume, mop, and then have to move back again.
Well Nick, I’m can definitely say this is a first for me: I found one of your videos a few weeks ago, got so invested in the next one, that I literally spent the last 3 weeks watching ALL your (public) videos before I can say this..I’m now a subscriber 🙂 it was worth the wait, mainly because I wanted to see if there was consistency with you. I look forward to seeing this channel grow and being along for that journey! Here’s towards the first play button! ▶️
Im the same physical/digital copies. Im currently debating about going digital on movies and games, but keep physical on books. I like physical because there’ll be times when the book/movie isn’t available on the streaming service that i have.
love this kind of videos and i have been watching them since the beginning, i would love to see your minimalism expand beyond your room and show us a little more on how you apply minimalism in the rest of your house :D
Good video. I will admit to struggling with the haircut thing. I almost gave up, but persevered, and recently a coworker was impressed enough to ask where I got my hair cut.
The pandemic lockdown showed a lot of people how hard it is to cut their own hair. As a barber i fixed a lot of bad ones lol. Good luck to anyone giving it a go!
You hinted on it quickly, but don't be that person who is always borrowing things and not giving back. Especially if you consistently borrow from the same people over and over. If I borrow something from friends or family, I always try to balance it out as soon as possible. It lets people know you appreciate them and the fact they let you use their personal belongings.
Having the barbershop open 24/7 is such a winning decision. Im with you on that. Ever since covid hit ive been cutting my hair. feels good to save money.
Been cutting my hair for years now, pretty simple as now it’s a buzz all over, but originally started as really I was sick of the barbers yanking my head around like a football haha. Great video again buddy!

Just found your channel a couple days ago and it's awesome. Loving your videos and I've been trying to lean towards minimalism. A haircut tutorial would be great!
I loved your video it had a lot of insightful ideas, although a minimalist lifestyle is not for everyone you shared a bunch of tips that can help just about anyone who wants to live a more affordable lifestyle. I would also love a haircut tutorial and I am more than willing to comment 100 times on your videos. Ha ha The idea of getting a haircut at home is definitely something that I have been wanting to do for a long time but I have no idea how to do it myself. I feel that it will save a lot of money and hassle, since making an appointment and having to wait for an available time can be such a hassle. I do hope that you seriously consider giving us a haircut tutorial, it would very much be appreciated. I really enjoy your videos can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
i love physical books and having a bunch of shelves filled out with my collections. for me it's worth the "baggage" and it's one of the few things I don't mind buying, especially used paperback cheap prints. hardcover looks better for decorating, but that isn't the purpose at all. For me, reading a book is disconnecting from screens/tvs/computers and enjoying the feel of paper in my hands, and the enjoying the smell of the pages.
Brilliant video,, I've not bought "single event clothing" for years,, cut my own hair for years,, I mean who really cares if it's not a professional job,,,, small kindle has replaced buying books. It all makes so much sense,,,,,,,,
Haircut! I disagree about the suit. There is the old saying that a man should own one good suit. I agree. Get it tailored so the arms/pant lengths fit you. Get a timeless cut/color. It will last you decades with care if not used constantly. It will fit you and you will feel better/more confident. You seem to be a young man, so your thoughts might change in the future. Even Fumio Sasaki has a suit.
One reason for buying physical copies is to read or play the story through once and sell it to cut down the purchase price. A friend of mine does this with video games.
There is a very valid reason for owning physical copy of something rather than a digital version. Unfortunately society is very much moving away from owning a physical Thing and instead owning the rights to watch/read/play that content, once, and then have it taken away whenever the company feels like it (see: Barnes & Noble revoking the use of thousands eBooks when the Kobo went bust). It’s something that, for example, games companies are really pushing for - why give someone the option to lend out a physical copy of a game to a friend, when they can release a console that only supports downloads and get twice as much money from game sales? I totally understand the need/desire to have fewer physical objects, and I myself own almost everything digitally (I live in a tiny flat with almost no storage space) besides a few very favourite books/video games that I will definitely use again, but I think it’s important to remember who else benefits from a system that disincentives people to have ownership over their art and media (I.e. corporations).
I went the reverse, prefer CD's and Blu-Ray's over streaming because A) get to watch without limits or ads; B) it's of a higher quality and C) it forces you to slow down and enjoy the content without skipping to something on your 'next' playlist. If you hate the plastic, just put the discs in a binder or Tyvek sleeves to protect them. I've become really really selective on what stays in my physical space though, so I'm not really a collector per se.
In London I live near a Library of Things, where you can rent items for a tiny amount for a few days. Things like power tools. There's also Fat Lama which is an app where you can hire items from other people.
A key item to my being a minimalist is I find it helps with my creativity skills. I'm always finding cost cutting ways on many things, one being years back was $20 on a great hair clipper set. To this day it's more than paid off and my cutting skills have improved. In the beginning ball caps were part of my daily attire. LOL Clothes, well they don't make the person, it's one's, character and demeanor that shines more. I may wear the same gym outfit 2-3 unless one of those I really sweated more so with cardio then shirt is changed out but I don't dress to impress, I do it for my health, heart n soul.
As a so called professional barber, I think your hair is great!!!! And I have to say, I think you've almost perfected that smile now! Absolutely you MUST do a haircut tutorial lol 😃💈x
It should be “digital over physical” to imply your choice. Also a benefit of physical copy is you own it forever and can sell it to someone else. While you may get Pennies on the dollar it’s an added benefit in that regard if you consider minimalism to include be money conscious as well and maximize purchases.
I just realized that you were a film maker after I was immersed into the vibe of your video... btw are you considering to create an extra channel to post some tutorials?
Borrowing a suite? I’m all up for minimalism but that seems a bit much lol. I’m thinking of how it would annoy a friend, it’s not like a screwdriver, clothing is more personal. Definitely agree with your other points though 😊
Funny how I noticed I have all these physical games but don’t really play. It’s nice to look at but really no time to play. I just got a ps5. Had a ps4 pro didn’t really play that either. Have a Nintendo switch that I do play ever so often. Maybe it’s time to hang up the controllers and sell the stuff.any suggestions ?
I have 2 outfits for single events. one for cold weather, one for warm weather. I wear them to everything. funerals, weddings, the dentist, etc. no one notices what other people wear.
I used to spend about $250.00 at a salon every 7-8 weeks - crazy! With inflation, this would now probably be closer to $350.00. For the last six years I’ve been dyeing my own hair and cutting it myself using some shears I bought online. I keep the cut simple. Save a lot of money and time, and no more making small talk for three hours 😂
The way you're making videos is pure art, like them over all the other big players in the genre. I hope your channel gets the attention it deserves in near future. By the way, how about making a haircut tutorial ;-)
I don’t enjoy getting haircuts. I really hate being touched. Also I’m an introvert and have social anxiety, so school is already enough for me. But I’m too scared that I’ll mess up while cutting my own hair …
Hello. Recently I have bought a haircut machine (IDK how to say it 100% correctly) for my partner. I cut his hair 2 times and the next one is coming. This decision was one of the best.
i am one of the first people to watch this video, as when i get the notification that u posted a video, i clicked on it. i love your videos keep doing what you love bc we all love it too ❤
You never re read books ? You should give it a try! You’ll learn new things each time you re read. You’ll be surprised on how much you miss when you read once.
@@NicholasGarofola but I also understand why you have them on a tablet. It’s a resource that helps us cut down the clutter in our homes. It’s great that you have a tool that gives you the opportunity to have a minimalist process about it. & still have an opportunity to come back to those readings if needed. You can look at it that way as well.
A good example is, re-watching your videos and taking different information out of them each time I listen and understand them in a different aspect. Also thank you for that.
“Something in mind that might hang up when the time comes” 🤔🤔…the 100.000 subscribers RUclips award. I’m sure is going to be pretty soon!
You got me..
1:04 single event clothing
2:00 decorations
3:22 physical copies over digital copies
4:34 haircuts
5:59 things i can borrow

"This IS all my stuff"

Thanks Randy! Appreciate it
I’ve already saved 24€ (25 US$) in harcuts thanks to the inspiration I got from one of your videos!!

The haircut tutorial needs to happen!!
You're not the only person guilty of leaving tags on special event clothing to return later! I totally agree on getting used to seeing white space.
Good video. I will admit to struggling with the haircut thing. I almost gave up, but persevered, and recently a coworker was impressed enough to ask where I got my hair cut.

Might be needing your help one day!
I'm a barber too, I think his hair looks good. I certainly don't charge $20!!!
£9.00 GBP 2022
Have you thought about making a video of how you pack for traveling as a minimalist?
That's on my to do list!
Nice one, bud! I don't know how you do the haircut thing by yourself, hahaha
I love all the comedy clips and comments you're adding to your videos🙂 Wow, your channel is growing so fast, I'm so happy for you ☺
Thanks for sticking around since the beginning Martyna!

Love the idea of something borrowed, we don't do that enough. Curious to know what you're going to hand up on your wall 🙀
Soon hopefully!
Hi nick thank you for inspiring to look forwrd in becoming a minimalist or attept to
I do the same about wearing something to an event then returning it after. 100% agree with doing it.
let's get to that 100 comments plus mark. We need that hair cut tutorial! 🙌🏽

Great list, very similar to what i've stopped buying. In 2023 i'm going to attempt to buy nothing but the absolute necessities for the entire year.

I don’t own any high heels any more and refuse to wear anything I don’t feel comfortable in!

I learnt to cut my hair during the pandemic, never going back! Nowadays I like my hair more than when I went to the barber shop…
