I really like VN after having lived and worked there for 10 years and we finally made it back to VN this summer after 10 yrs in the West. Practically everything had improved and will always love VN for its people, food, scenery, cost, etc. but I must say VN Railways had not changed for 10 years. I understand VN Railway is at a crossroad while waiting for government on what type of new railway system will it uses but it can certainly invest in its train bathrooms and its top cabin amenities. I understand many locals still use it as a means of inexpensive transportation but its top cabin and all of the bathroom can be improved. Seems like all aspect of VN is putting on its best foot forward to continue improve VN's image as a great tourist destination but VN Railways is not doing its part.
Vietnam was a fantastic country but yes the railways can improve . Hopefully they improve and reduce the time as train travel is the best way to see the country .
So much disadvantages after wars. We tried lots together in building infrastructures. It can be not good as others but we are welcome guys by hospitality and smiles!
Hope to visit Vietnam on long holiday here in the Phils. I've known some Vietnamese here and they're so kind. Sending love to you both and to Vietnam. ❤
Had to chuckle when you talked about solo travelers doing this. A few years ago I took the night train from Hanoi to Sapa as a solo female traveler. I was put in a room where I was the only person that spoke English and the woman in charge of our car also did not speak any English. During the night there was a landslide and the woman in charge came in giving instructions. I had no idea what was going on. Luckily one of the young men in my room used google translate to tell me that I was to follow them. That we were being put in vans and taken one hour down the line and then back on the train waiting on the other side. We were all given blue plastic rain ponchos and we looked like an army of smurfs escaping the train. I found the people on the train so nice! But after a lovely time in Sapa (one of my favorite place in Vietnam) I was happy to take a VIP van back to Hanoi. ( and it was quicker ) ! Can't wait for your next video. ( oh did Dev's socks come clean after walking around the train? caught a glimpse of the bottoms once lol )

I've taken a similar train from Da Nang to Hue along the coast. I wasn't in a sleeper berth, but a"first-class" seat. It was... an adventure. Here in Japan, I'm used to getting to my train by walking on an overpass or through a tunnel to the train platform which is very safe. In Da Nang, we had to walk across the tracks... live tracks (!)... that trains were running along. That blew my mind. There also wasn't any raised platform. You literally had to climb up onto the train with your luggage from the ground. Still, Vietnam was a great place to visit with friendly people, delicious food, and beautiful scenery. We would like to go back someday.
Wow! Fantastic video! But, I am sure a bit difficult to deal with. The scenes of Shev by herself were wow! It had to pull at everyone’s heart. Back together the happiness; it was amazing. Shev and Dev are 2 people that are amazing together. It’s not faked. It’s why I enjoy you guys. The cute proper couple that they’re videos are interesting and everyone can watch. Boarded this sleeper train back in 2016 and I know you guys were holding back in this video 😂 it was rough! The beds were unsanitary and reeked of urine. The rooms where the AC did work - it would be blasting arctic cold air for one period of them and then shut off randomly and the room would get steamy hot. Terrible toilet units. Literally got sick and rashes after a 12 hr rush - I'm not sure how you guys survived 20! 😭
@@terryevans2467 It's usually better to take the plain or VIP sleeper buses than the trains in Vietnam...the only time tourists should take the train is if they want the experience. Just seats. Hard wooden seats to be exact. With no air condition in the summer and yes, with a whole neighborhood.
When i was a student, that was the only affordable way to travel from HCM city (where i live) to Hanoi (where my relative live). The journey took around 2 days so i spent 2 nights like that on the train. It was not pleasant but you get used to it when it's the only mode of transportation that you can afford.
No Da Nang exploring? 😢😢😢
Wow so much fun. 🤩🤗
Hahaha we tried to make the most of it 🥰🙏
Where do u put the suitcase 🧳
That was dreadful! The toilet was awful! I’m glad you guys made it without complaining on the video 🤣
Right!!🤣🥲
Crazy you were split up on that train!
I know! It was so crazy haha! 😂
Great video i enjoyed watching
Thank you Terry! So happy you enjoyed it 🥰🙏
Welcome to Hanoi!
Yay! Thank you for your warm welcome! We need a rest after the train haha 🥰🚂
Thank you 🤗
Been Amazing seeing all the places you guys have visited! Did you get the packet of chips back?! 🤣
So nice to see a familiar name! Had no idea you watched haha! Hope you are doing well and NO we did not get the chips back! 🤣🥲
@@ShevandDev hehe I'm doing well thanks 🙏From the looks of it you guys are doing pretty well yourselves!Videos are awesome! Keep them coming 🤟
I am up with a 20 hour ride but in peace haahhahahah I can't tolerate chaos . But if I have no choice I adjust too. It's just that I prefer peace. Might add this adventure to my bucketlist haaha. I only dreamed of train rides in Japan and Switzerland but I think I'll start with this one. Also view is amazing ,I'll be in the hallway most of the time haha
You are so right! I am sure you would love this little challenge! We love trains and really want to try them in Japan and Switzerland too! Bucket list for sure!😍
Online it says it costs 1.2milliondong too 😂 the planes cost half
@@terryevans2467 It's usually better to take the plain or VIP sleeper buses than the trains in Vietnam...the only time tourists should take the train is if they want the experience. I know I cannot do it. I get jittery on a 3 hour flight, never mind a 20 hour train ride crammed with people and noises.
