    you have the scissors in your SwissCard Lite in upside down. They snap in when you put them in correctly with the lever on the up position. They were designed like that to snap in place and hold

      You're right. Thanks for the tip. I learned years ago that both sides kind of work so honestly out of laziness I just stick it in there 🙂. I pay more attention to the blade orientation since it has a dimple and a logo that reminds me it's upside down.
      Thanks for taking the time to comment.

    Ive just ordered the super tinker. Like other SAKs, i end up buying the matching colour toothpicks and tweezers to match the scales. I always get the lanysrd, any matching accessories and an appropriate case also. Sometimes it costs me more for the add-ons than the tool itself 😂
    Goid video 👍

      Hahaha. I know what you mean. I tried finding the red toothpicks on Amazon but failed. I like making a small paracord lanyard in some bright color but their lanyard looks great as well. Their leather sheaths are great. I got a red one for my s557 Wood and looks pretty nice.
      I think the tools are very well priced that splurging a bit a on the accessories should be fine I guess 😀

    The manager is my favorite 58 mm and the field master is my favorite 84 mm. I also carry the swisscard lite everyday in my wallet and forget it is there it goes through security for many places. My wife uses her swisscard lite all the time.

      @AboutThings_byTarif  2 месяца назад

      Great choices! I'm glad to know that the Swiss Card has some fans out there. You're right about forgetting it's there 🙂
      The manager is perfect. I didn't know about it back when I got the Signature Lite or else I would've gotten it. The fieldmaster is great too. The combo of the saw and the screwdriver in a compact form is super useful.
      Thanks for commenting.

    As much as you say you need a toothpick, you should check out some more durable, "fancy" ones, and then carry a tweezer in your victorinox. Just a thought...

    • @AboutThings_byTarif
      @AboutThings_byTarif  2 месяца назад

      All the fancy ones are made of metal and too pointy. I really like that the Victorinox one doesn't come to a sharp point and has some flex to it.

    I bought a Victorinox Ranger when I was in Zürich last year. It's been a useful tool to have around.
    You're damn right about the scissors, by the way. You expect them to suck based on size alone, but they just don't!
    The metal file also files metal quite well.
    The blades are kinda soft. They don't keep an edge for too long. But they're also quick to touch up.

    • @AboutThings_byTarif
      @AboutThings_byTarif  3 месяца назад +1

      I've never tried the large file from Victorinox so glad to know it works well. That's what the Ranger has, right?
      The scissors are amazing. But careful for those Wenger scissors. Very good but not the same as the ones we're used to.
      I agree on the blades but they're easy to keep sharp, even the tiny ones. You can probably tell I'm a fan 🙂

    • @233kosta
      @233kosta 3 месяца назад +1

      @@AboutThings_byTarif I don't know what they would call "large", the marketing w@nk calls it a "metal file". It's about the size of the wood saw next to it. I used it on what I think is mild steel - no noticeable wear.
      By the way, I just confirmed tonight, the wood saw saws wood. Works about as well as the metal file. I've yet to inspect it for wear, but I don't think there will be much. Obviously not as effective as a big dedicated wood saw, but for a pocket multitool the fact that it cuts real wood (none of that pressed and glued sh!t) at all is quite impressive, much more si when you consider how well it performs.
      I completely understand why you're a fan. Same reason I am. Most of us are used to being taken for a ride by multitool marketing. They promise a tool that does something, but it never _really_ does it all that well. These Victorinox ones on the other hand are actually genuinely competent. Not amazing at a particular task, but always more than adequate, and adequate is perfect when the alternative is something you'll just leave home.
      I did find something these scissors aren't good at - posh paracord. Survivorcord XT, to be precise. They'll cut it, but it's more like a rodent slowly gnawing through rather than scissors cutting cleanly. Like I said, never "perfect", but always more than adequate, which is more than I can say for the competition. These probably _are_ the best scissors in that form factor.

    • @AboutThings_byTarif
      @AboutThings_byTarif  2 месяца назад +1

      Definitely agree with everything you said. I've tried their saw before and it's actually pretty good for the size. The scissors are probably the one tool that I'd go to even if I have dedicated scissors, haven't had any trouble with them so far and they're great with regular 550 paracord.
      As for the file. By "large" I mean full sized in a 91mm compared to the short and dinky file you'd find on any 58mm tool like the Classic SD, which I think is meant for nails vs. anything else.

    When I was 8 or so my dad got me the cybertool L cause I was always fascinated with his one, I still have it oc I use it sometimes but it’s to bulky to take everywhere. Also my dad just gave me the Alpaka hub pouch which would have bought probably but he said he got it for free and didn’t need it. I‘m still not sure if I should use it as my wallet or not. I would probably use a slim wallet if didn’t have to carry coins a lot (with the Swiss card oc). I’m not sure if I should get the swisscard or something like the rambler or mini champ for my pouch/wallet. I’ll definitely get a normal ish sized pen and probably a flashlight. I’ve also thought about getting a spyderco honeybee or grasshopper which is really scratching the dumbass knife laws in Germany but at the same time the victorinox blade would probably be enough. Nice vid as always ❤

    • @AboutThings_byTarif
      @AboutThings_byTarif  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for the comment as always :-)
      - The cybertool is great but the large one is indeed too bulky for most EDC setups
      - The hub pouch makes a very good wallet and allows you to free up your pocket by putting your multitool and flashlight for instance in it but you'll need to get used to a thicker wallet
      - To me a slim wallet equals Swiss card and you know how I feel about it 🙂
      - If you go the route of a small multitool I'd go for the Midnight Manager, has the screwdriver of the rambler but the light and pen. The minichamp is mostly useless in my opinion
      - I find a multitool to be more than enough for most blade uses. I might give knives a try but I think especially in Europe a non locking multitool blade, even a small one, should take care of most of your needs
      Let me know what you decide on and good luck.

      I'd love to give the spirit a try. The form factor kind of defaults to Leatherman so interested to see how Victorinox handled it.

      @@AboutThings_byTarif yeah 😄 I’m editing a video on my other channel about making custom scales so they look like firefly insects that light up. I decided to make a small batch of them since I was going through the process anyways. The spirit is great, I have the MX version with the one had opening blade, it’s only second to my P4. I really like how slim the spirit is.

    Great collection and good video! Liked and subscribed! If you haven't yet check out the Explorer and either the Pioneer X or Farmer X Alox scale models.

    • @AboutThings_byTarif
      @AboutThings_byTarif  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks a lot! You made my day.
      I like the Pioneer and prefer it to the Farmer since scissors beat saw for me. I find Alox to be super attractive and the slimness would be a plus BUT that toothpick is too useful for me to lose. But if I were to ever go Alox it would be the Pioneer or Bantam.

    • @sadisticD
      @sadisticD 3 месяца назад +1

      @@AboutThings_byTarif Bantam looks so sleek so I get that. The Farmer and Pioneer X both have the scissors. The pioneer x is a 3 layer the Farmer X is 4. A cool thing about the Alox is that the blade and pry tool are beefier and the back spring is a lot stronger.

    • @AboutThings_byTarif
      @AboutThings_byTarif  3 месяца назад +1

      I didn't know that the tools are made any different with Alox. I'll definitely consider it with my next knife. Thanks for the info.

      @simonh6371 2 месяца назад

      @@AboutThings_byTarif I bought a Jetsetter a few weeks ago for a business trip (flew only with hand luggage) and now I'm carrying that with my trusty old Farmer, which I had previously carried with a Classic SD, but I actually prefer this combo. No redundancy, now I have 3 drivers, 3 bladed implements (blade, reamer, scissors) as well as scissors and saw...and scale tools as well! I don't really need the saw on a day to day basis but when I bought the Farmer it was weirdly cheaper than the Pioneer. It's hardly a noticeable difference in thickness and weight, in fact some have said that it's more comfortable to hold than the slimmer Pioneer.
      Anyway if you're considering alox you can still carry it together with a smaller cellidor model so you don't miss the toothpick. Bantam or Pioneer plus Rambler would be good.

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 2 месяца назад

      @@AboutThings_byTarif Yes there are quite a few differences with the 93mm alox range vs 91mm cellidor, which make them stronger.
      - Blade and caplifter/flathead are beefier, so the flathead can handle more use as a pry tool
      - Alox scales are stronger than aluminium outer liners plus cellidor scales
      - Liners are nickel silver as opposed to aluminium, again stronger
      - Backsprings are stronger as they are not ''shared'' with any backtools
      - Rivets are thicker
      Also the reamer on the 93mm alox is easier to use than the backtool reamer/awl on 91mm models and arguably can do more ''hard'' work
      All in all not surprising, the alox models are based on military specification models issued in the Swiss Army.
      I am still very fond of my cellidor SAKs mind, my Climber and Swisschamp still get a lot of pocket time.
      If you don't want an alox with scissors (because you're carrying a smaller cellidor model with scissors), there are a few variants on the Pioneer or Farmer where the can opener is switched out for a specific type of blade , e.g. Alox electrician with a small electrician blade, or Alox Rancher with a curved pruning blade instead (plus woodsaw). But you can't go wrong with the standard Pioneer. It's more rugged and durable but also has a classy timeless look.

    I love these SKA nerd sharing videos. Everyone is different. Great to see the 580 get some love, for once. I keep one on my car keys for my kids (and myself, because I have kids and it's hard to take care of yourself when you have kids).
