I read the Wikipedia of the Tomb and almost teared up at the respect and dedication these men have towards their post. These are men of honor. Fewer than 20 percent of all volunteers are accepted for training and of those only a fraction pass training to become full-fledged Tomb Guards. They take an average of six hours to prepare their uniform-heavy wool, regardless of the time of year, and tomb guards are required to memorize 35 pages of information about Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, including the locations of nearly 300 graves and who is buried in each one.😮
Army Pfc. Jessica Kwiatkowski leaned forward as she walked against the wind and rain. As a Tomb Guard with the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, she walked her twenty-one steps in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in the middle of a violent rainstorm on the evening of Saturday, July 29, 2023. Amid the storm, she walked her post without the ability to see.
I have been there before.....I remember a couple teenagers who were watching him started laughing like crazy and not caring who was around. The guard spoke up and said something to the effect of 'please be respectful at the tomb of the unknown soldier'. They shut right up! And ty for your devotion and dedication!
That's what dedication looks like. We seem to have forgotten that. What a prime example of what that means. Thank you sir for your commitment to your duty. You are a shining example to all of us.
Have no words to express the pride I have for these remarkable young men ..who in all weathers carry out the duties here as a mark of respect to your fallen servicemen !... I am a proud Brit..I am humbled and grateful for their sacrifice ! God Bless the fallen and veterans and their families ! God Bless America !
Few people dedicate themselves to honor others to this level. Absolutely incredible how committed they are. If only our politicians were as dedicated to the good our nation as the men are to their fallen comrades think how great our nation would be.
On the news tonight they were interviewing a woman.....really doesn't matter thank you for your dedication and love ❤️ of your job and country Great job and :THANK YOU" for your service
I just visiting Washington DC this last weekend. It was great due to the warm spell and being off season. There were only about a dozen other people watching the changing of the guard and the Museums were not crowded at all.
Because his grandparent's didn't flinch even when encircled by Germans and freezing in the Ardennes in the Battle of the Bulge; just like the Soviet soldiers who stood against the onslaught of the Wehrmacht, the British pilots as they flew round the clock to stop my country being bombed, or the Chinese guerrillas who fought with spears and swords against the brutality of the Japanese invasion. Those are just a few for reference, but many countries have moments of outstanding bravery, nobility and displays of duty in their history; that sacrifice can't be forgotten, even when the wind and rain chill you to your bones.
Hope he didn't get a bad cold from that! I went to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier when I was in 8th grade and the guards' dedication, focus, and precision is truly unparalleled.
While this may have been somewhat dangerous in a storm like that, it shows the dedication and commitment of our military. I wish the present administration had the same dedication and commitment to our country and our military. Or ANY dedication.
@user-li4xk3rx6k I guess you were never in the military, so you wouldn't understand. I feel sorry for those of you that don't have a real commitment to our country. That's exactly what's wrong in the US nowadays. Sad.

These soldiers train for years to attain this honor. This post is taken with the utmost respect and humility for our fallen Brothers sisters aunts uncles fathers mothers etc. There is no higher honor than being The Guard....
That's ridiculous, there is common sense. My father is buried in Arlington cemetery and was a Vietnam warvette he was head of his Union, and he was recon in Vietnam. You don't put a soldier in danger. Leaving him out there at his post. During a thunderstorm is danger.
Guess you missed a well-known fact...The Vietnam Unknown was identified and removed in 1998. It is virtually impossible to identify the WWI Soldier, and the WWII and Korean War Unknowns.
Once this perfomance slightly matches the similar russian performance at the eternal flame the communist takeover will be complete sadly. Korean espionage is not what it seems . The mass synchronized dance in north korea is a display and training for low tech synchronised surveillance done in groups in public settings. Parks, chess areas, bus stops, taxi spots. The groups are composed of spotters, stalkers, fashion readers, informants, informed etc and they mark people in broad daylight for either blackmail stalking etc. Very common in former communist countries and communist ones obviosly. They also speak a criminal slang dialect with a reverse intonation. For instance "the war on drugs" would really mean "the war. But we are on drugs" ie we are on drugs to give as an edge I'm the war for global communism. Here is a display of their low tech espionage tactics success over the high tech western tactics. Snowden is probably combining them both at the moment. Some people who have attended this probably received secretly a master class

This is very honorable. But its not real smart. My question is this. In todays world with such advanced methods of DNA testing why do we still have a tomb of the Unknown Soldier???? Why?? Why do they not test the remains and determine who this soldier is? Somewhere out there is a family that deserves to know what happened to their loved one and they have a right to bury their loved one where they see fit. That should be, by far, the primary duty and goal for this soldier. I’ve seen the guard on post several times. They are nothing leas than impressive and their loyalty to their duty is second to none. But again do we really need to still have that tomb in today’s world???
