This movie was hard to watch at first I cried but when my life turned upside down. This movie pushed me to lead my life back up. I never told anyone this before. When my dad threw me under the bus that was his biggest mistake he got a rurd awakening. So I helped the military on Facebook and they helped me I'll be in for ever in det for what they did for me. I know it's just a movie. But tactically, LT (Bruce) made an error on not ambushing the rebels at the river, prior to them calling for more reinforcements. Banks of the river were high, and they had 2 snipers. That's superior tactical ground to ambush. Rebels relied on a leader always (red beret); snipe him first.
It’s ok the Lt can ponder that after his courtmartial for disobeying his orders and getting his men killed because of it. Of course I’m not criticizing the decision to save lives but our current military (yes and in past administrations also) would absolutely throw the book at him for this.
I watched this movie several years ago, and I'm sorry to say that much of it is based on reality. It moves slow in a few places, but not to the point of being boring.

This happens all the time because people can't think tactically and are led by their egos, the rebels should have stopped chasing them after getting spanked in the first encounter. What goal was served by chasing them besides the rebel leader feeling slighted? he ended up losing most of his men and his own life because he couldn't get out of his own head.
These groups aren't known for their intelligence or tactical prowess. They put AKs in the hands of children to do their wet work for them. They're murderers playing army.
