These idealistic scenes come from dreams only. the only others in the casino are tourists, even they are too focused on their own play to care about someone elses winnings. the third group are the professional gamblers, who make a living playing, probably files tax returns, and are also too focused on their own action to care about two guys in identical suits who are Obiouvsly counting cards and will be asked to leave to casino soon.

The acting, cinematography and music in this scene are just perfection. I don't know how any of them could've been done better. Love the juxtaposition of Raymond/Charlie and the lights, buzzers, etc. of a casino. Very accurate with it being a constant hub of activity. The card counting stuff was over dramatized and they likely would've been flat bet (can't raise or lower bets beyond one single amount) or backed off (asked to not play blackjack) before the later stages of this scene and even when this movie was made, casinos knew there were people who absolutely could count a six deck shoe accurately. Also, Raymond would know there are a lot of 10's left in the deck but couldn't predict the next two cards & the dealer's downcard would be a Queen and the two of them talking out loud in front of the dealer and then Raymond getting it correct would've set off all kinds of red flags. These are minor nitpicks in an overall outstanding scene from an outstanding movie
Probably one of the best scenes in movie history, when music and the the movie scene is in absolutely perfect harmony!!! You can't make it better than this!!! 👍
This entire soundtrack is highly underrated. The songs don't necessarily stand out on their own, nor have they endured in pop culture, but each one really is the perfect selection for what's needed in the scene.
Me and my uncle are gonna try and recreate the escalator scene when we go to Vegas. I'm a lot like Raymond with the way my memory works too, so that's cool.
I know the Movie is titled RainMan but I always thought that Tom Cruise was the Leading Role. He has more screen Time and he becomes a better person towards the end of the Movie. Anyway... Great Movie, Great Performances!
I watched it almost every day for over a year. I worked in the theater where it played. I know the film by heart. Great film. I still nearly tear up at the ending.
I remember reading an article years and years ago that during the Vegas hotel filming scenes, one of the managers was sent to speak to them after a guest complained about the noise they were making. On being asked to be quiet, they responded by saying they were filming a $25m movie, in the hopes it would impress. The article said the manager then politely informed them that the guest in the room below who had complained about the noise, had lost more than that in the casino that day and wanted some peace!!
When you don't see an actor, just their character...that's perfection.

The music that they play while he is winning is so perfect, it makes you get goosebumps. it's dark lol
Someone once told me it was Sisters Of Mercy's "This Corrosion" used in this sequence: another illusion shattered, it wasn't!
the music to me is saying money is the root of all evil and is destroying the meaningful relationship Charlie could be having with his brother if he wasn't so self focused.
That's because it's a Hans Zimmer piece. He the guy who scored the Batman trilogy, inception, interstellar, pirates of the carribean and too many classics to list!
Frank Dux zimmer has a lot to answer for
@@thiscorrosion900 I was going to say: as soon as the song started playing I was like "Woah that's Sisters Of Mercy"! Scrolled down to read the comments to see if anyone could confirm... Are you sure it's not? It sounds JUST like them...!
I bought this soundtrack in the 80s on cassette for ten bucks and loved it on my road trips
Best movie scene ever. I still get goosebumps with the music & when they show Cesar’s palace. They really captured the moment 👍
Absolutely. You should read the book about the MIT beating blackjack.
You’d think that all the noise in the casinos would not fare well with Raymond.
When there are dollars to be made he was in the zone!
It didn’t sound like an airplane crashing so he was cool with the whole scene.
You can tell it does bother him a bit for sure. Just by his gesture @7:31 mark
Probably one of the best scenes in movie history, when music and the the movie scene is in absolutely perfect harmony!!!
You can't make it better than this!!! 👍
Great acting all the way around, Cruise & Hoffman great together
I can’t think of many actors that are more charismatic than Tom Cruise on film
It's because hes brainwashed by scientology
Ashton Duda .. and his ego is bigger than the moon
Never realized how similar the music is to Danger Zone.
It sounds more like “This Corrosion” by Sisters of Mercy.
Hoffman and Cruise had incredible chemistry in this film.
Great movie. Great actors. Great era for cinema and music. UNREPEATEABLE.
One of the best scenes in cinema history
OMG this is 30 years old..................
31 now bubby. Just like me...
Then they invested their winnings in a start-up called Microsoft
@@grilled_steak_stuffed_5586 Ouch your almost middle age man nothing to be ashamed
@Grady Whitman Movie is 32 years old now lol
@@blackentertainmenthistory8601 Still feel 26!
love this great scene from one of my favourite movies and Dustin Hoffman is incredible so is Tom cruise
Such a good scene; simple shots, well palced.
You know your short when Tom Cruise towers over you, damn Dustin.
LOL. Not exactly towering over Dustin but damn I didn't know he was shorter than Tom.
FranktheTank70 - and you know you're stupid when you contract YOU ARE to YOUR.
@@markfox1545 Short little Mark Fox
Towering a bit too harshly worded
This movie is a masterpiece.
This entire soundtrack is highly underrated. The songs don't necessarily stand out on their own, nor have they endured in pop culture, but each one really is the perfect selection for what's needed in the scene.
Standing ovation to Tom Cruise for his fantastic acting as a neurotypical person!
Great comment, my friend. This is why I like to read youtube comments.
Hans Zimmer’s score is phenomenal in this scene/movie. Highly underrated, and is so different from the epics with which people have familiarized him
@Desparaged Asparagus so he’s not one of the best of his generation?
@Desparaged Asparagus lol, how is that his fault
Best ... Casino scene ... Thank you Dustin ... Thank you Tom ...
Me and my uncle are gonna try and recreate the escalator scene when we go to Vegas. I'm a lot like Raymond with the way my memory works too, so that's cool.
Idiot
Wish these two would make another movie together because the chemistry between them was electric.
One of the greatest movies of all time , love rain man.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
This came out when I was in high school, I vividly remember that it was shown in the theaters what seemed like forever.
Jethro Derp I just remember people being like “Rainman is still being shown?!?” It had the record for a while if I am not mistaken.
I am 48 btw.
I know the Movie is titled RainMan but I always thought that Tom Cruise was the Leading Role. He has more screen Time and he becomes a better person towards the end of the Movie. Anyway... Great Movie, Great Performances!
dig this : Billy Wilder said that Cruise had a harder role because of having to react to Raymond . Wilder said that both men deserved an oscar.
Love dís amazing film but heartbreaking also, dat music is fantastic wen there in the casino, well done 2 these 2 amazing actors, 😄❤️
Dis? Dat?
Fond memories of seeing this movie when it came out. I can still smell the popcorn at the theater. :)
I watched it almost every day for over a year. I worked in the theater where it played. I know the film by heart. Great film. I still nearly tear up at the ending.
8:25 The transition to Raymond made this scene perfect.
Wonderful performances, by Tom, & Dustin ...great casting choices 🎬
Love it in the restaurant when Charlie realises that the casino is the way!
"You are beautiful man" LOL!
Best line in the movie.
not bad. but for me it's always been "Rain Man, let's play some cards." I say it just before the lunch rush at work.
Someone who uses LOL will never be able to judge lines.
LOL is for people who hate language.
@@jpgrumbach8562 sad, but true.
jp grumbach Looks like you don't how to judge language then, dickweed.
Only when he found a way to make money off him.
These two are just amazing in this scene.
Just watched Maverick, great movie. Tom hasn't aged a day. I want that pact with whatever he made.
