The New 52 had some good stories, I'll give it that. The problem with the New 52 is that it pretty much caused irreparable harm to DC comics! It's very simple: When there is no history or backstory and everything can be rebooted there's no reason to get invested.
I always thought that DC would've been smart to have literally set the New 52 on a separate Earth, while also continuing their old continuity for lifelong fans in a similar fashion to how Marvel established the Ultimate's continuity. But the difference would be that after Flashpoint, the Earth Prime Flash finds himself living on the New 52 Earth where everything is different. Then both continuities would have a storyline to lead into, that being a crossover between the Earth Prime Justice League; who's arrived looking for their missing Flash and the New 52 Justice League. Then Flash can leave the New 52 Earth to return to his normal Earth, while the New 52 just goes on as its own line side by side with the original line of comics. Too me if they'd done it that way then they could've really emphasized new ideas and characters to attract new readers without upsetting the old ones because their continuity isn't going away.
I feel like The New 52 got too much hate just because of the whole reboot aspect but I think it still did bring a lot of awesome elements for characters old and new that are still kept canon to this day even after more than 10 years of their inception
Having a solid state of continuity like what Marvel did certainly had just merits. Just wish the DCEU on the big screen would've followed a proper direction as well, and not rush things.
I personally don’t like the New 52 Billy Batson version being an immature, troublemaking doofus and in his SHAZAM form, he is literally lack of experience, and less powerful. SMDH
There were too many stories that had horror aspects to them for me to be committed to. I just wanted the same stories that were similar just being told before the new 52, but with more characters in this setting, and a complete reboot for Batman, especially if they were going to do it that way.
I also still maintained the new 52 was a mistake and basically getting rid of all their legacy characters like Wally west my flash and ruining Superman Clark Kent and making him a complete jerk was a horrible idea and ruining Tim drake my robin way the final straw for me and I was so happy that rebirth came around and fixed everything and gave me back my Superman with his wife Lois lane and his son Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy as his little 10 year old self which was fantastic and tons of fun at least in my opinion before that got destroyed by bendis and his garbage but that’s a topic for another day my point is the new 52 was horrible idea and ruining my favorite characters was just garbage and messed up at least in my opinion.
They did tim drake and wally DIRTY Its a damn crime the only thing i liked is what they did with the magic side of things everything else was mediocre and terrible
I found the new 52 to be a complete and utter trainwreck especially with how the new 52 treated the teen titans superman and Superboy conner kent because holy shit all those series I mentioned were all horrible not to mentioned getting rid of a lot of legacy characters like wally west was just a big slap in the face for us Wally west flash fans myself included at least in my opinion, that being said though one good thing came out of the new 52 was Scott Snyder's batman which was really good and that's about it. Everything else was just garbage and nothing made any sense at least in my opinion.
I’m very very new to comics. So new in fact that I just bought my first comic book this week (im 34) after looking around online I learned a lot was overwhelmed a lot but ultimately settled my entry point into this medium on the new 52 Batman run.
Disney did the same thing with the Star Wars franchise….but instead of creating a catalyst event or reason they just said “hey…all this stuff you knew is not real…and that’s that 😂 so Abeloth…the Jedi civil war, sith/jedi war, sith internal conflict, super luke skywalker, the Yuuzhan Vong, etc just don’t exist…and here’s Rey 😂
The difference is that Star Wars prioritizes movies, and DC prioritizes comics. It honestly made more sense for Disney to ignore non-movie canon because most fans were not familiar with it. That being said, I think Disney has done a great job with canon comics and novels.
Great 👍🏾 Job Adam, I do feel that I know more about the New52 now…I am not a fan of some of the decisions made , the decisions to make Barbara Gordon Batgirl again in particular…I understand that some felt that if Bruce could overcome having His back broken why not Barbara…however IMO Batman is Bruce at His Best & Oracle is Babs!!! ( also loved Stephanie Brown’s Batgirl run) …Anyway Keep Up The Great Work Adam
I’m currently reading the Animal Man run, and it’s genuinely sooooo good! I’m to the Brother Blood arc and wow… animal Man is maybe my favorite comic character when it comes to grief stories
Where is the rest of explaining Knightfall? Where is the rest of explaining Born again? I’ve been waiting so long I’m about to make the video myself. 🤷🏽♂️😂
Why were all of DC’s non superhero books war titles? War hasn’t been popular since the 1950s. WTF reads war comics today? Are they that out of touch? The people running DC must be as old as the people running the country lol.
Aside from Forever Evil, I personally quite enjoyed the The New 52 Teen Titans comic as well as "The Ravagers". While I wasn't too big on the fact that they made my girl Rose a straight-up villain (though it got better), I was quite bumped out when the latter ended on a cliffhanger with no resolution in sight.
I love it! It was ambitious and refreshing…and flashpoint being the catalyst was perfect to me, even if it wasn’t intended to be. DC will always be my favorite and best of them all IMO ❤ *And DC animated Movies are 100x better then MCU films 🤷🏾♂️
Sure, post crisis superman got split into 2, and when they merge again, post crisis and new 52 also merge but this new timeline still missing some stuff like legion of superheroes and justice society due to Dr Manhattan, he actually responsible for splitting superman up for keep him weak, because he scare of superman, anyway, when they fight, superman convince Dr Manhattan to fix everything and he FIXED everything
A lot of times he acted like a complete jerk and bully, as well as the fact that he threatened people's lives if they didn't follow the law, especially in the beginning.
The new 52 end so what did they revert to old universd or reboot aga8n or is it all still in the 52 rebooted timeline just not throwing the label on everything

It’s been over 10 years since DC invented the New 52.
Some fans loved it and some fans hated it.
I'm confused too.
Crazy that the flash caused this twice
I think the new 52 did wonders for the Flash, Aquaman and GL. I also like how the New 52 Supes had a little edge to him.
Batman's book was the best
Court of owls
End game
Death of the family
I like how it put his underwear on the inside.

Shazam and justice league new 52 was amazing
I agree. Some of the titles were hit or miss but there were some good ones like Aquaman, Justice League and a few others.
