A few things not mentioned, which I think are significant:
1) Numark has a better fader; Hercules' has extra dead space at the ends which make scratching with it more challenging.
2) Hercules allows you to set pad modes separately on each deck; Numark has a single mode selector which is shared between both decks-not as flexible as Hercules.
The extra deadspace at the ends of the Hercule's crossfader is a deal breaker for me
@@djfunkyt: Easily remedied, just tape down a piece of credit card at each end of the crossfader to make it shorter and eliminate the dead space at each end.😊
The lights are useful because it will flash blue for the beat, and red on the downbeat if set right which helps with knowing where the downbeat is. Everyone initially thinks that feature is cheesy untill they discover that use.
Excellent video, Ifeel good in choosing the Hercules over the Numark. It was actually cheaper by more than ten bucks on Amazon.
Yes it was surprisingly useful. Thanks for watching it. You got a great deal. Wish I would’ve saved $10.
Another great video man! Especially the part when you talk about the touch letting the record go during scratching and juggling. That was one of my main frustrations. This helps a lot thanks
WASTEDTALENTCorp Happy to help. You have me the idea.
With the Numark, you can browse and load the tracks, so no need to use the computer at all.
With the Hercules you can change the EQ, BUT....... you actually can do it in the Numark without loose other functionalities by editing the XML profile file, but you need to know a bit of programming to edit an XML file
Great video, I’m not trying to juggle on these lil controllers so for me I like the Touch, my only problem with it is no filter knobs but the Touch is great for what I use it for, in the car, airplane....
The Hercules DJControl Starlight has got Filter Knob, in real it's a Filter/Bass knob , and you have to select either Filter or Bass function using the center Bass/Filter Button
Really good tutorial, i was underside , now i go for the hercules, thanks.
Alain DJ thanks. Happy to help.
I such prefer the design on the Numark (I think it looks more compact than the Hercules) and I like a lot the thing you have the Browse and Load Channel 1 & Load Channel 2 Bottoms! But only the Hercules have an EQ Filter/Bass which I think it's a must for taste the mixing
Great video. I really wish these controllers had a mic input. Im in the market for a backup controller and that is my hold up. Thinking the ddj 400 might be the better option.
Brilliant review! I've read and seen a lot of reviews on here that waffle on about this feature and that, but not how you REALLY use them. I have the DJ2GO2 old version as you have there, but looking to upgrade to either the Touch or the Starlight as the buttons - which are really hard to push, that is very true - are going after five years. It's a great controller but that is one of the annoying things.
Thanks Tim. The comment and watch are much appreciated. 👍
im a beast on the Numark Touch and you can midi map for effects to trigger in serato!
I just got my Hercules and am enjoying the hell out of it...
+betterdayz2003 good to hear! I hope you become a dj master where I can learn from you. Thanks for the watch.
@@idjchance Question, how did you setup your play/stutter button to brake the song?
@@betterdayz2003 In Serato DJ Pro Click on the gear in the upper right-hand corner. That will open up to the "DJ Preferences" tab and on the right-hand side you'll see a check box that says "Auto gain", directly under that it shows the "BRAKING" section with the "Start" and "Stop" virtual knobs (both say "FAST on left and SLOW on the right) just click on them and adjust to your liking.
@@idjchance Nice! Thanks! I'm on Virtual DJ but this gives me an idea as to where to go now.
Gorgeous video!!!! Thank you! You answered a lot of questions for a beginner like me.) And I didn't even know that those issues are so important before this video! )
Happy to help. Let me know how you d along the dj journey
hopefully hercules can make a second version to this but with better performance pads.. the clicking can be annoying
I have a numark 2go2 and won a 2go2 touch. But I’m going to buy a Hercules, sounds and looks better
yes i was waiting for this
Thanks for the watch. The idea. You da (what you identify as here)
TY. I just want something to add some cuts to my beats, like scrarch + vocal cut and record that. Is any of the 2 better for that?
The Starlight hands down. Thanks for the watch Pedro.
Nice video, review, and juggling.
Xylume thank you
Great video brother. Well done! 🔥
Thanks Mojavi I appreciate you taking the time out to watch and comment.
You can turn off the underside light on the Hercules in the Serato software.
Alex Martinez Yes you are absolutely right. Thanks for pointing that out. I completely forgot
@@idjchance And if you are using the Hercules DJControl Starlight as you main sound card, you can manualy select the light effect by pressing several time Bass.Filter button + PAD1 Deck A for different smooth light effect/color or Bass.Filter button + PAD1 Deck B for fixed effect/color, There are, I think 7 differents effects + OFF
DJClub Sound thanks for telling me. I didn’t know that.
Pondering which of these to get an leaning towards Hercules now! The wheel is important for me. FYI links to your other reviews are broken
Happy to help. I hope you like it. Thanks for telling me about the links too. Just fixed them.
I HAVE questions? Sir the dj2go touch controller is impossible to play or active in application virtual dj pro 7
It works with VDJ8. Here’s the setup page from Virtual DJs page: www.virtualdj.com/manuals/hardware/numark/dj2go2touch/setup.html
Good vid, thanks!
I appreciate the watch Kieren! Thanks
Thanks bro great video pretty spot on
Thanks and thanks for the watch.
Yes! This is awesome🔊🔊🔊👍🏻
Thanks for coming through Suzy Lew!
@@idjchance you are welcome!
Thnx for video, it is really useful! Just one question, does it make sense to have 3 band EQ for this type of controllers? What do you think?
Михаил Дормаков Happy I could help. A 3 band eq would be nice to have a little more usability. Personally I believe they leave off some of these features so you’ll purposely have to buy a more expensive model in their line up. Such as Numark mixtrack or Hercules 300
thank you so much just watched the video thumbs up, really helpful thanks again
Anytime. I’m happy to help
Great review 👏🏾. By the way what's the name of the intro and outro track of this videos
The first one is “Gordy’s Groove (Mayberry mix)-The Choice MCs Ft. Fresh Gordon.
@@idjchance Thank you. As Roxanne shante would say Have a nice day.
@@manning845 ha! Love the reference. Thanks for the watch too.
good one
"Will it juggle?”
🔥 📛 🔥
Thanks and thanks for the watch.
Have you tried the Pioneer DDJ 200 Smart controller?
I actually haven’t since it wasn’t for serato. It had its own “WeDJ” app
@@idjchance
alright
imo, Hercules Dj Starlight is better than Numark Dj2Go2 and Dj2Go2 Touch cuz it has light at the bottom and EQ is the most important 🙂
Agreed
