Yes, Singapore generally offers greater financial safety compared to Switzerland and Luxembourg, which may present financial challenges and raise concerns about dishonest brokerage practices. A "dump" is pushing it a bit, but yes, the general quality of life has fallen considerably with the annual nationwide arrival of roughly 80,000 legal immigrants (think the town of St.Gallen), 40,000 asylum seekers, and close to 350,000 cross-border workers coming to CH nationwide every day. Key issues are a severe housing shortage, soaring rents, overcrowded roads and public transport, and an extreme cost of living particularly since the impact of recent inflation and price gouging. Too many people for a small country that consists of two thirds mountains. I would still rather live here than in most of the UK these days.
I don't know what's stupider, the fact that you think cutting off hands is actually done in places like the UAE or Qatar(which it isn't), or the fact that if they did do it and it actually works and deters crime is somehow a bad thing, westerners have their noses too far up their asses.

For many people, the adage "home is where the heart is" still holds true - think family and friends, it's not just about tax savings and money. IMO, the first step when faced with social and economic issues and/or crime in a country is to see whether moving somewhere else within that same country might dramatically improve the situation, prior to to heading for new uncertain shores. The grass is not necessarily greener elsewhere, and although you might indeed have almost zero crime in Oman or Dubai, the caveat is an extremely unpleasant climate most of the year that makes outdoor activities very difficult - not to mention cultural issues that are somewhat asymmetric with what you might be accustomed to in the West. You'll be living in a stuffy expat bubble in such places. Much of Western Europe is struggling with the adverse consequences of mass migration from third world countries, particularly since ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel (Germany) literally welcomed hundreds of thousands of migrants with open arms back in September 2015, without any background checks whatsoever. Food for thought. What the European politically correct crowd in resolute woke-mode systematically denies, is that a large part of rising crime levels can be directly attributed to the illegal immigrants, most of whom simply do not fit in with our way of life, and many of whom tend to resort to knives when things don't go their way, or because they dislike our freedoms. See what is happening in Germany these days, where the present government does not seem to know what to do about it. At least Sweden and Denmark have now taken decisive action to correct their respective critical situations with regard to this difficult issue. Because of the highly questionable fully open Schengen borders ("more Europe"...yeah, right), Switzerland is of course no exception to this trend, with much of the crime that occurs here being "imported" from France - think burglary "tourism", or muggers on day excursions in places such as Basel (national crime hotspot), where your situational awareness skills will be essential these days in a city run by people with a soft approach to criminals. It's all relative though, particularly when you start comparing crime rates in various countries. Switzerland is still an extremely safe place to live, particularly in the suburbs. Last but not least, you can legally own handguns in the land of Heidi to keep your home safe if worst comes to the worst. Each to their own, of course.

These Middle Eastern countries with very low crime have very low crime because it's not tolerated. Draconian punishments. Hence virtually no crime. Other places like Japan and Singapore -- it's an ethnic thing. Likewise for Scandinavia (if you take out non-white immigrants and the places they live in). But parts of the USA are becoming uninhabitable for law-abiding people -- Chicago and Minneapolis, for example. And I reply that if I had a father, grandfather, uncles, and brothers who all took care of me, if they prayed 5 times a day, if they insisted on driving the car and chaperoning me in the street, if my entire family of 10 went everywhere together, fasted and prayed for a month every year, if I found myself in a difficult situation (widowed, without money, whatever) and I had a whole family of men who faithfully promised to take care of me, if I had a rock solid support network from the moment I was born until I drew my last breath - what woman in the world would say no to that?? I'd trade my life for that in a heartbeat, rather than fight to survive alone in this individualistic, demonic, perverted horror story that is western culture.

I believe for a country to be safe it must also have high levels of personal and political freedom (e.g. Freedomhouse Global Freedom Rating) otherwise it may be safe for not being murdered or robbed but it will be dangerous to be who you are, because you may be arrested for expressing yourself
Lol. Typical western claptrap. Is there really freedom when pro Palestinian students are being arrested in the US or being banned from protests like in Germany. You have a very self serving attitude. Western governments let you protest or 'express yourself'to the extent that it doesn't threaten their sacred cows. France says it's a crime to deny the Armenian genocide. And westerners have the hubris to claim they are a bastion of free thought and expression.
Or by simply being gay.
No kissing or hugging, no soup for you!
The issue you are mentioning refers to personal freedom, there are also political freedom issues, i.e. free press, etc.
Yep. And that rules out 80% of Andrew's recommendations.
Bank robbers in Germany bombed multiple atm and FIRED KALASHNIKOVS AT POLICE while traversing 3 different countries.
If someone as little as mentioned the word "Kalashnikov" In India, ATS (anti terrorism squad) and NSG ( National security guards) would've come out.
HOME MINISTER would've resigned.
Point is what's considered as terrorism is now normal crime in Europe.
What a new low Germany
Similar as with ancient Rome it's now happening in Europe : West vs East division. West is fallen, East is blooming
If you mention anything about disliking immigrants in Western Europe, anti terrorism police will kick down your door
Also, you are not permitted to point out that the terrorists are virtually always from the religion of "peace and love".
WRONG !!!! IT'S NOT ROBBERS, IT'S MUSLIMS WHO ARE INVADING THE UK !
Murder rate per 100000 people is twice as high in India as it's in Germany - 2.1 vs 1.0, in absolute numbers, there are 35 times more murders in India than in Germany.

In the US, crime is a billion dollar industry. Many jails and prisons are run by very well paid private contractors. Those that are run by the local/state municipalities are almost bankrupted by the costs. Crime here has become a business that’s “too big to fail”.

It’s all relative. I’m a native of Los Angeles (and used to live in NYC). Some cantons in Switzerland 🇨🇭 especially the French part are turning very quickly into a dump .
I see
Not as bad as a dump as UK 🇬🇧 not even close.
Switzerland 🇨🇭 still miles ahead of getting close to shitty uk 🇬🇧
The French curse?
Less pickpockets in countries where they cut off their hands when they catch them.. :/
... its almost as if the law works

Some choose freedom over safety. Some choose Safety over freedom. Everyone get a choice.

The USA is interesting in that if you take out non-white violent crime, the stats reduce to European levels.
Well better have "draconian punishments" than ultra liberal, permissive societies or on the flip side, excessive police corruption / brutality like in yankee land, you ignorant white working class hill billy you!
Because you are removing the most poor social class from the crime statistics...
it's not draconian punishments at all, it's security cameras everywhere along with no one else committing crimes. So if you steal something all resources are directed at finding you and with lower privacy laws they can just follow every camera. There is no escape, so there's no crime
