Nice setup only thing is missing is a Cb Radio for communication on the trails. I own a 2021 Z71 midnight edition Colorado Z71 lifted. Also live in Austin we overland a bunch of friends. Your more then welcome to come out. The Colorado It's a mid sized truck and a big Cb radio wont work. I recommend The President Bill Fcc radio. It's small powerful and gets the job done
There is now a receiver hitch folding tire carrier. You could even modify it to carry more. It even has extended receiver, so you could mount more receiver accessories.
Very nice, we’re from DFW. Definitely recommend the Pre-cleaner on the intake. Subscribed.
Awesome, yeah for the average person it’s not that big of a deal...however if you find yourself using the truck...then Absolutely would recommend t he pre cleaner
Great Review! Truck looks great!!
Mark Popovac thanks for the comment, and if he hasn’t seen your comment I’ll pass it along...it is really cool for sure! And I just noticed who said this....wait a few more days and there’s a pretty cool video about to drop 😜😎
Why did the guy use a 589 fab lift spare over the GMPP one ? Do you know ? He said he did a lot of research
Is the dog bench a custom job? I need to do something in my Canyon like that!
Yes sir, I don’t remember if Seth built it or if he had it built….but if you have any tools for wood working it could be built pretty easily….but with today’s wood prices 🥴 haha
Nice truck. Well thought out modifications. No glitz, no bling, just functional, useful mods.
Man I am glad you said that! I could not come up with the words to describe it.....but this sums it up precisely! At one point he states that he does his research.....Seth is super smart and puts a lot of thought in his gear....some of it may be pricey but you pay for what you get and he got the most out of his buck for sure!
Was there a big difference in ride comfort after the rear add-a-leaf installation?? I need 1" in the back, but worried how add-a-leafs can ride rough!! Loving that setup!! I'm getting closer w/ a 2017 ZR2!!
Sea Monkey from what he told me it improved it back to a stock ride and height. Before he said it felt soft or a little sloppy....if your riding around with extra weight I will be good for ya
glad to see you are uploading again. hows your bison doing?
Thanks, we have been super busy, but trying to do more videos......got another video almost done editing just fyi lol.....Rocky is doing great, we have had 0 issues with it, and he has performed as advertised (see next video haha). I am searching for fellow ZR2 owners (heck any crawlers) nearby that we can meet up with to make more videos with!
@@rockyaev8287 no transmission shudder?
Justin P no sir, we haven't had any issues whatsoever thus far.....it could be that I do keep up on all maintenance and follow all manufacturers recommendations..... we have been 100% satisfied
I love your truck , really like to get one !
lee santos They are a great truck. If you get one, you want to be disappointed 👍🏻
Absolutely! This is literally the most capable truck I’ve ever owned.....for this purpose...it can tow a decent amount, it can crawl just about anywhere and do it stock, it’s sporty, good looking, good on fuel, a good daily driver....man the list goes on! Well worth it for what we needed and wanted!
Nice truck. Audio needs some work. I'm not sure what the technical name is but some people call them a dead cat or dead rat. It's a foam or fabric cover for the mic that minimizes wind noise.
Yeah I have one, it was just super windy....I am working on getting a set of wireless mic’s but since I don’t make money off of the channel and it’s for fun....I have to justify spending 300-500 dollars....oh believe me it will happen but not immediately. Lol
@@rockyaev8287 fair enough! Definitely not a cheap purchase. Well I wish you the best of luck with your channel. I'll be stopping by to see what you put out. Gathering ideas for my ZR2. Nice to see what others have done and where they have had issues and what they would do differently.
Clint Kern awesome thanks for watching....hopefully in the next month or so we can add a winch...but keep an eye out in the next two weeks for a light bar review! It’s freaking awesome
@@rockyaev8287 Awesome, sounds good. Will you be able to add in more of your B roll/beauty shots that you take? Show a little more of what you are seeing.
Clint Kern absolutely! I am pretty new to the whole video making thing so any tips of what people want to see I can definitely implement it! Anything in particular that you would like to see more of? There are two more videos already loaded so those won’t be updated haha but after that I can for sure add more
This truck looks alot different now.
Enjoyed the video! Lots of good ideas! I'm looking at getting an extended cab and have come across his Bison on a few different searches online.
Joey Guidry that’s awesome! Thanks for watching I hope you find what your looking for...we have been super happy with ours for sure!
This dude has a ton of money in that truck. He must not be married! lol
Haha, he does have some money in it....but he has been building for a while....he started with a previous ZR2 then when they came out with the Bison he upgraded the truck and carried over about 70% of the goodies. One day I will try and get him to hook up to the trailer and show it off also. Super cool setup, and.....even with all the weight it still does its job off road!
I know people with over 80 k into their Jeeps !
larry lucas That was hilarious. You had me dying over here. Fellow ZR2 owner and content creator.
Haha yeah it’s an expensive hobby...I didn’t realize how much it all cost until we started doing our stuff 😳
Too bad for the sound but still very good information
Agreed, I’m working on a wireless mic setup, trying to decide on which one because they are pricey! Keep your eyes out for a new video sometime soon from a little mild wheeling
Nice review, gotta work on that audio though! haha
#Truth
Moose81 It can be difficult at times when the weather doesn’t cooperate or equipment fails. I’m with you. It’s easy to put up with video quality that falls off a bit. But when the audio goes to crap it makes things difficult.
I would highly suggest not hiding that remote in your fuel door. #1, criminals also watch you tube and #2, criminals will find and steal it when they open your fuel door to steal some diesel.
Nice truck, but this dudes inflections while speaking is annoying, to be nice.
Thanks for confirming I wasn't the only one that noticed.
Fellow extended cab guy!👍
Haha yeah, I'm not a big fan of extended cab's...guess too many rides in the back seat when I was younger lol but I will say it looks pretty cool especially since that is now the "odd" cab out there. Plus for his setup it actually works better anyway.
Ordered mine that way, just the old dog would ride there and wanted the longer box.
@@patrickedgewood8598 I can dig it! Wish we could find about a dozen owners close by so we all could get together!
Yay!
Me too! 2018
Great job
Darwin Casalou thanks for the comment, stay tuned....as soon as I’m done putting the video together we have a video of some off road work being done 😎
That's an awesome setup but it's too much weight for what I do with my zr2.
Nice to see people doing walk around of ZR2’s. And he’s got a nice set up.
Thanks, the ZR2 really does not get the attention that it deserves. The entire design is all about off road directly off the lot. Then you add in all of the GM Performance options and it is crazy! All of which is still covered by the manufacture warranty because its all designed and backed by GM! Cant wait to start some of the performance upgrades on ours!
I’ve had my ZR2 since June of 2017.. I still love it. It still surprises people at the local off-road park just how capable it is
Turbojunki that's awesome, yeah we have taken ours out a couple times now and it really does things with ease that others struggle with! I wish I had a spot locally that we could go play.....closest place legally we have found is an hour away!
That's a dope spare he's got. HAHA
David Potter yeah it's pretty amazing lol....I needed to get a picture of how he mounts his actual spare....I think he just straps it down to the roof rack....I believe that's what he said.
Weight cap on the GearPod is 65lbs, beastly.
Seth has obviously put a lot of thought in his build. Per his setup, I bought the 589 Fabrication leveling kit and the Peak Suspension add-a-leaf. Yesterday I was printing out instructions and took a better look around Peak's website and noticed they offer the Eibach Colorado ZR2 Pro-Truck Lift Springs [17+ Colorado ZR2]. I'm not knowledgeable in this stuff and wondered why Seth went with the 589 Fab versus the Eibach from Peak? I'm going to have mine installed in the next week or two and if the Eibach is better, I'll want to order it. Thanks!!
Good question, I will shoot him a message and see if he can field a better answer than what I could come up with lol......It may take a little while for him to get back to me but I know he will😎
Ok directly from Seth:
There are trade offs to both, but with stiffer springs you are always going to get a stiffer ride. That being said the leveling kit is adding and using what the truck came with, where springs is replacing something on the truck. Spring replacement is also more involved install. Also GM offers a level kit, albeit with new upper control arms, they don't offer front springs to level the truck. My future upgrade will most likely be peaks zr2 front coil over conversion as it's adjustable for height and spring rate for the extra weight I'm carrying upfront (cab platform, lights; future dual battery and winch) that's when I believe stiffer springs should be used.
Excellent points. I'll stick with Seth's current setup and follow suit with the Peak coil over conversion if I add more weight to the front. Thanks so much!
Ralph Keith absolutely! Glad I was able to help🤘🏽
I’ve been following Emulous on the forum for a long time, very cool to see him do a walk-around of the rig.
Awesome! Yeah pretty cool guy, and a pretty cool setup, he has put a lot of thought in his item select! I haven’t talked to him in a while....2020 hit us pretty hard.
@@rockyaev8287 Really sorry to read this, hope things in 2021 improve for y'all!
@@wadeduvall7026 thanks, everything will work out...one way or another 😎
You need a mic for your videos.
I have a boom mic with a wind cover, and I have one wired mic. I want to purchase a wireless mic setup but since I do this for fun and don't make money off of the channel I have to save for it .... I will get one just not in the next two months lol
👍👍👍👍
George S thanks for the thumbs up 😎
