HONESTY HOUR! Would anyone pay the money for this truck? If so, please explain why. Also, to those who say no, what would this truck need in order for your no to be a yes??? Thanks for watching and supporting Forrest's Auto Reviews!!
Forrest's Auto Reviews the problem with this truck for overlanding is the Ford F-150 FX-4 SWB regular cab(122" wheel base). Has V8 or ecoboost options. More hp, more torque, more gears, better crawl ratio, weighs less, carries more, tows more, fits larger tires and Costs less!
Short answer? No. That truck is worth in excess of 60k here in Canada after taxes. Simply far too expensive for what you get. I love the ZR2, and am hoping to snatch one up in a few years once they're been on the used market a bit, but as it sits, even the regular ZR2 is far too expensive for what you get.
@@shawndejong6699 I agree the price of it is insane but of all the midsize trucks this is the only one i can sit in comfortably. The Bison package does look very badass tho.
I paid 43 for a ZR2. All of these trucks are crazy high. I LOVE my ZR2! I would pay an extra 5k for the Bison package....maybe. But the diesel adds another 3-4K. I wish they were cheaper, but I love it and never regret a second of it.
Man, it's so lovely how manufacturers are making such focused vehicles for enthusiast. For every dollar you pay for the Colorado, you know Chevrolet went through the rocky mountains and back to bring it to you😊
Great video. I bought this truck last August 26 as a 2020 ZR2 Bison diesel. It is a fun truck. I was leaning toward the Gladiator but I wanted the diesel and your options are limited or were in August 2019. The payload in the Bison diesel is not very much. The sticker says 887lbs! And yet it is rated to tow 5,000 lbs. It sure is unique and did I say fun to drive? As a 2020 in August, I didn't get very much off the sticker of $58k. I didn't really care as this was the toy I wanted. It came with the lightbar and lights installed. The spare tire carrier hadn't been installed so I was able to sell that back to the dealer. I've since removed the light bar and added an ARE Overland topper, AEV Warn Winch kit, Warn winch 9.5 XPS, AEV transmission skid, AEV rear bumper light brackets, Rigid lights in the bumper and Rigid lights installed as ditch lights along with a Trigger 2100 Wireless Accessory Controller 4-Switch Relay System so I didn't have to fool with wires through the dash. I also deleted the wireless phone charger as it was useless. I used a replacement console from an earlier year to get some usability back. The worst thing about the truck is not the truck's fault. Between COVID and my job I haven't been able to do any wheeling in it and only one road trip. It was and is a very good ride. Almost like my Buick Enclave and infinity smoother than my FJ Cruiser was.
nico hernandez I’m honored to hear such a compliment from a Colorado owner! Glad I did it justice! I really did enjoy it. Price was questionable though... 😕
I usually don't comment on vehicle review videos but this is a great video that really shows you most if not all things that someone looking into this vehicle would like to know
Couple of things. That “fake” air intake is a non issue. It’s for looks and we know it. Looks awesome! Interior is fine. It’s a truck, not a Cadillac Escalade. I’ve driven mine for 3 years. Great ride, reliable, very capable. Zero issues with back seat being small. Zero issue with the 6 foot bed. I would like a key FOB though! Finally, I believe the bison is more than 53k for the diesel, no? Anyway, thanks for the cool video!
is it worth $50k? not in todays market. I was very interested in buying one because of the front and rear lockers and the Diesel engine option, but I couldnt see spending that kinda of money for a truck that has been largely unchanged with exception of the front grill, since 2014. So I said I would wait for the new revision which is going to be revealed in 2 weeks then I could justify the pricetag, but from what ive been seeing reported, that truck will only offer the 2.7L 4cyl turbo gas engine, and I have absolutely ZERO interest in this thing if it doesnt offer the Diesel, thats really what sets it apart from much more reliable competition like the Tacoma. We will see what happens on the reveal but I think ill be shopping for something else.
I will never buy a truck, but came through to support you because you did such an epic review on the mazda3 for me... I’m actually saving up to buy it in a year :D. Also, your other reviews have been amazing as well. God bless you bro, wish you nothing but the best.
You hi centered the whole thing? haha, No i'm just kidding, if i would be offroading with my experience, i would probably do it twice. Bison is expansive, but you do have lockers on both axles, nice under body protection and diesel. It's very cool GM took their chances and made this happen
They look great and I loved how much my regular ZR2 looked too but started having transmission issues at 7k miles that GM either doesn't know or want to fix for their customers under warranty. Would never buy a GM vehicle again especially not for $50k. I'm sure some people will reply to this saying they don't have issues with theirs. But, the transmission shudder among many other poor manufacturing issues are well known and widespread. There's even a class action lawsuit against GM for the 8 speed transmission that's in everything from the CT6 to the Camaro. Look it up. Do your research before you put down your hard earned money.
I agree. I used to own a 2019 Zr2 and always had problems with my axel and transfer case and constant noises coming from the springs. So much inconvenience of having to always take it in and then tell me they don’t know what the problem was. It was so stressful and I ended up selling it to carmax… now I’m falling for a bison but I’m afraid of dealing with complications again. Any suggestions for a top of the line mid size truck??
Chevy needs to explain why a Colorado and a Corvette is selling for the same price. I am not even going to mention it’s price like a entry level Raptor either.
I guess it depends on what you're after. If you want a toy truck that you can bash around and take on trails, get this ZR2 Bison. The Silverado Trail Boss is going for about $50K but it doesn't have all the lockers, doesn't have all the underneath protection, doesn't have a metal bumper, would never come close to this level of MPG, and it would have been WAY TOO BIG to fit through the trails I filmed at in this video. If you want a traditional work truck that looks good, has good (not great) off road capabilities, and a cloth interior as standard, get the Silverado Trail Boss.
I'm in the market for a mid sized pickup, but more ON road oriented than OFF. The Z71 is ALL I'd need. IMHO the interior is cheap. Seats are borderline terrible. Little support, no side support at all. Like sitting on a city bus or a train seat. Switches feel the same as they look; cheap. Headlamps are poor, no LED's! Paint is thin, with thin clear coat. Compare the paint to a Toyota or Honda. $50K for the Bison is a bit crazy. Yes a lot of cool off road options, looks mean, but not a style over substance truck. It HAS the gear to do tough off roading. But $50K! Ouch.
Yes, no truck is worth this price...this is before tax, license, insurance. Pretty much 7 years of a mortgage like payment with a complete loss of value at the end.
there are some people that work on their vehicles and there are some people that work hard and dont want to also work on their vehicles. well said. never understand why people freak out so much about how others spend their money. hey, if i love this truck can afford it (hell, even if i cant but get a loan and pay it off over 7 years) who tf cares?!?!? i dont tell you how to spend your money
No, I would not pay $50,000.00 for the truck. It is far too expensive. It’s long term operational cost is high. I’ve never seen anything rust faster than a Chevy truck chassis operated in northern states. Interior space is not that spacious given the overall vehicle size. Did I say it’s far too expensive.
Andre Beard Well when you are in an off road park in 101 degree weather, the hair NEEDS to go up. Lol I love truck but they are hard to justify unless you haul stuff often. My wife and I live a very chill & simplistic lifestyle so we don’t usually have a lot of stuff. 😕 I would love to have a truck in my dream garage though!
Chevys interior don’t seem any fancier than a 2000 Cavalier. It’s painful to see people pay good money for such dreary surroundings. GM needs to do better.
CAMARO _KYLE I’ll agree with u it’s fuking nice but what exactly are you paying 53 k for? bruh lower end trim and some aftermarket mods you’ll be under 45 k and it’ll go anywhere the bison will go just sayin.
Why pay 50k plus for this dump truck, while you can get a trail boss for the same price? Also, this truck has zero luxury!!!!!!! Get a GMC Canyon Denali, its worth every cent.
You shouldn't be reviewing a vehicle that fits a specific purpose if you in fact do not use it for that purpose. If you don't go camping and off roading don't review it.

I'm glad that the new Colorado is so good, because my 2005 Colorado is all of a sudden getting a lot of love out there.
V8 or straight-5 cylinder?
The bison edition is just awesome man I love the armor on it plus fog lamps

I mean, I'm not really a fan of trucks, but this one just looks fantastic, I love the body lines.

I'd pay $53k if it included a significant interior upgrade. Call it the Bison Interior Package.
Yes, it's too dam much money for a midsize pickup!
You should get your hands on GMC Sierra AT4 or Chevy Silverado Trailboss!!
Your night shots are simply one of the best on RUclips. Keep up the great work!
Thanks!
YES!!!! All vehicles are too expensive.
Fair review comparing the Bison and ZR2.
Thanks Steven! I appreciate you watching!
Great review. Thank you. I have a Bison on order. 👍🏻
Sweet truck but the Trd Pro Tacoma is the bomb.
Obviously people will buy it if its 2nd best selling behind the Tacoma. Not to mention it's better than the TRD off road
Chevy needs to explain why a Colorado and a Corvette is selling for the same price. I am not even going to mention it’s price like a entry level Raptor either.
You are a pro at this (not the high centering part....😂)
Great video! Great all around review.
I’m not a fan of the front bumper angle either.
Led , push button start are not expensive for them to add into the aev version to make you feel like you bought the flagship model Colorado
Silverado cone with deep discounts so why would you by a Colorado with the same MSRP w/o discounts?

Agree! Options list is screwy! Just make it simple?
I bought mine for 48,900 (loaded bison with diesel) with friends and family discount Dec31st
I just got mine for 45,300 with the cat back exhaust included.

I like it but i'd be wary of sludge in the engine.
Evan Z why would you get sludge in the engine
Is that a cop making a right hand turn across two lanes of traffic at 26:32? I got a ticket for doing that!

great review! best one yet
Every reviewer only has the Duramax Diesel why not the gas has way more power?
V8 Tundra same gas highway mileage.
That's Toyota Tundra money...
best review on utube. thanks

It took a Toyota to get unstuck!!!🤣🤣🤣
Toyota's get stuck too, I know I've seen my share! They don't walk on water.
all that steel bumper no tow hooks what a joke.
Yes
My bison came with black bowties.
Tradesman trim with a diesel.... not even worth 53k
It’s way to fukin much just get an LT or a base model with 4wd and a respectable amount of options
That's not even comparable. A base vs bison theres no comparison. Bison is superior
CAMARO _KYLE I’ll agree with u it’s fuking nice but what exactly are you paying 53 k for? bruh lower end trim and some aftermarket mods you’ll be under 45 k and it’ll go anywhere the bison will go just sayin.

Lance Pizzica Thanks Lance! Hope to bring you more trucks soon!
Is there a GMC Canyon equivalent to this truck?
No
You lost me a rock crawling.
You should try it sometime! Super fun! This truck is plenty capable of doing other things as well! :)
If you like bending frames by the Colorado if not get something else
Yes to the diesel motor, yes to front and rear locker, No to none push button start, no Leds, ,
Door pockets look useless. No to buying
no to your comments..ha ha
Is it just me but it look like a ford raptor??
plai and simple no!!! you would out of your mine
Nice truck
It's not bad!
Why pay 50k plus for this dump truck, while you can get a trail boss for the same price?
Also, this truck has zero luxury!!!!!!! Get a GMC Canyon Denali, its worth every cent.
Pretty sad that a 2004 S-10 has more towing capacity than this $50k already rusted turd.
