Simon Phillips (drummer) really did a great job. I couldn't appreciate that for years because I expected someone to attempt to be Keith Moon. I now realize that this is simply not physically possible.
I saw them twice in 89 in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Both shows were amazing! I consider myself lucky to be old enough to have seen some of the best bands ever.
@plasticonofan What's the name of the DVD? I used to have this on VHS, I know the Tommy part of the show is on DVD but I wasn't aware the rest of the performance was.
John Barone led zeppelin so overrated even though I love them the who queen and even sabbath shit on them them 3 bands also shit on The Beatles who I also like and always remember this is my opinion don’t take this personaly

Simon is a monster musician. perfect alternative for Keith Moon for this tour considering the production involved with horns etc...
It ended up being physically impossible for Keith Moon too.
@@jdquadrider Indeed. I know a lot of it was drug fueled, and that's got to take a toll.
Never the Who without Moon. Never.

Not Giants Stadium my friend, Universal Ampitheatre in LA, I have the DVD of this.
I see Pete had a ponytail back then!

Yo
Esa sensación tan genial que sientes cuando vas a un concierto de tu banda favorita y los ves entrar al escenario
Es único ❤❤
It's weird playing into a void like here at 1:31 You have an audience that you can't see. Love this, 'specially Simon's smack.
Saw The Who twice on this tour. Can't stand the remastered audio on this video though. Very thin sounding.
Very good
@harnois75 The Who: Tommy and Quadrophenia Live With Special Guests. You can buy it online.
The days when music was rocking.

I believe this was recorded sometime after Pete Townshend sliced his hand open while doing a windmill at the show in the Tacoma Dome.
How did he manage to do that
@@spiralstorm616 From what I have heard, the "whammy bar" put a whammy on him.
Best band 💪👍
