I'm a Prevost and wanderlodge mechanic you did a great job teaching the public interest in old conversions. It's not easy or free. Get out your card, and tools, possibly a welder
Looks like it's pretty good shape other than working the electrical issues out the trace inverter is old but they are reliable I had two 2012 running in parallel with turbo fans for true 2000 watts each that was 25 years ago Trace was what Victron is today in my opinion . Thanks for a great video
Drove Eagles for Trailways doing long haul charter work. Lots of local sightseeing trips with lots of slow speed turning. Boston was the toughest very narrow streets and no power steering. That why the steering wheels were so large. But nothing rode like an Eagle. There were fun to drive but the manual 4 speed transmission had to be double clutched. Anyone sitting in the rear could tell if you knew how to drive it.They heard every missed gear.
We have an Eagle and it’s great to drive! Thankfully, it has power steering 😃. Grinding gears and an old 8v71 back there… probably could’ve handed out ear protection 😆
Best bus line ever!! You guys (Trailways drivers) were the most courteous and professional drivers. Thank you sir for delivering us passengers nationwide safely while providing an enjoyable experience. Rode several charters and interstate lines back and forth to college in the Southeast and Southwest.
You gave a pretty good description of what to look for in a Silver Eagle. I own a model 01, Belgium built, last one before the 05’s came out. The Eagle you show, looks pretty good. Cosmetics can be fixed pretty easy. Frame, suspension and mechanicals are the most important. She also has great adjustment left on the suspension and the ride height looks spot on. Thanks!
@@RollinHomies Looking forward to seeing it. I’ve owned mine almost 19 years, now has power steering, 8v92T, Allison 740. Many busted knuckles over the years. Lol
Thank you! I’m getting better at editing and collecting “footage”. I’ll be doing another inspection of my personal eagle bus soon. I’ll cover “what I found” post purchase. 🤙🏼
Just subscribed because you and your wife are doing exactly what we want to do! And y’all are about the same age as us! I started researching eagle buses because they look like tanks! Anyways keep the content coming!
Awesome. Just accidentally wound up buying a 1983 eagle . Long story. This video helps alot in what to look for . Ty . Do you have any more inspection videos I could look at?
Me too🙂. There’s 5 35’ eagles out there. One for sale on Craigslist for $41k with a 6v92 in it. I personally wouldn’t pay that for it because I’d have to do a complete remodel and I don’t care for a giant diesel generator in the bay.
Great video !!!! Wow .. perfect timing .. lol ... :D I am looking into buying a 1969 45' - Eagle 05 conversion .. dated but nice .. needs sprucing and refreshing inside .. .. but but has been sitting several years .. are you available to check these old gems out? .. how to reach you? .. do you have FB or a business - would love to discuss having you check this one out too ... wonderful video .. best yet .. and I've watched dozens and dozens ;) .. I'm learning .. but very impressed with your knowledge and this video is sensational ... I'm a big fan .. would love to touch base ... :D thanks for posting and sharing your invaluable knowledge !!😀
@@RollinHomies unfortunately the only way to get a 69-1984 eagle in 45 ft you’d have to have bought a bus with serious modifications done. There are some companies who actually stretched the frames by adding framing to the middle. If not done right you are in for some problems. If you’re looking for a decent eagle coach I can help you find one. We actually have a couple that we might let go.
@@RealJoshMisner my friend has a 1969 eagle .. 45 foot its converted .. has been sitting a few years .. but ran well when parked .. he also has shorter 1970 mci rebuilt power plant & Allison automatic and then parked 25 years ! So I just bought a eagle bus at auction for 1500 bucks it’s got 1000 million potential to it it’s absolutely gorgeous but I don’t know what the hell I’m doing maybe you could get a hold of me on this channel and we can figure it out I appreciate your time thank you bye
$1500 eagle bus, what a score! I can always help with some insight. If you click the “links” in our bio you can follow the link to our Instagram and we can chat through messenger, or check out our website RollinHomies.com! Thanks for checking us out😀
To m knowledge the bus was up for sale at $25k. -IMO- I think it was a solid deal. It had been garage keep for 20+ years, had a Big Cam 400 Cummins engine (which is a nice jump from the 8v71 6v-92 or 8v-92 that could’ve been in it), I believe a very low hour 15kw diesel generator and a 15’ drivers side slide out. The cons where the dated interior, the paint/body work, no power steering, some of the plumbing lines had been frozen causing breaks and the entire slide needed a new seal around it. The biggest issue with eagles is rust and this one had maybe 10% rust on the frame that was visible.
There are a couple “Eagle bus” and bus conversion groups on FB. Check into those for some buses for sale. I’d say with 45’, steer clear of the 6v-92 engine… way underpowered. Best of luck! And thanks for watching.
… and killing things is just so invasive 😄 Ya this was my first video. Come a ways sense then. Haven’t made to many because the work it takes with zero reward and then constant “critiquing” from viewers. Thanks 🤘🏼
