      Thank you! Yes, I know everyone wants this as you might see from the questions in the comments of this video, but it's not possible. You can buy one or the other or both but there is no combo ticket. Several people in these comments have opted to buy them both and if you do, you'll get two different days to visit the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill.

    This is a Fab insight Elyssa, thank you. I am taking my mother to Rome in early March, and she'll still be breaking in her new hip, so walking too far will be a challenge. Will this Attico experience still require her to walk round the entire Colosseo, or could she simply take a Lift Up and Down from Entry/Exit to Attico and potter around 3/4/5? I just don't want her having to loop round all of the one way system on the 1st and 2nd floors as well, as that would be too much. Thanks for your advice, and Happy New Year from Malta!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  9 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much for your kind comments! If your mom has some walking issues, the attic visit will be limited for her. The lift does go up to the attic, and on that level you can see a lot. But to see the 3rd, 4th, and 5th tiers, you need to climb very steep steps so it would probably be off limits for her.
      The visit includes the option to see the other layers (ground floor level and 1 level up, also accessible by elevator), but it's not obligatory. On the other hand, it's pretty easy to simply walk around these layers as they are flat, and as I say, you and your mom can take the regular elevator (the one specifically for people who need it) from the ground floor to the next floor up.
      I recently visited the Colosseum with my 80+ year old mom and we did use that elevator to go from ground floor level to the next level up and we walked all around both levels and she never had to use any stairs up or down so it's definitely doable! I hope you'll visit the Colosseum with you mom and have a fabulous trip!

    1 - the normal ticket allows entry to the arena floor
    2 - arena floor plus underground

      Unfortunately, there is no combo ticket that allows you to visit all these sites in one go. You may note the I had with others in this video where I suggested they either buy two tickets or invest 50€ in a year-long pass.

    Amazing video! Thank you!
    My question is if they reopen the attico before my visit at the end of the year which would you recommend for better views and easier access the Colosseum attico or St. Peter's Basilica dome? I saw that the stairs up to the dome are very narrow and it's supposedly hard to get up. Sadly, due to my asthma I can't climb too many stairs at once...

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video. Hands down the best views are from Saint Peter's dome. However, the stairs to the dome are steep and narrow. And it can be tough if you have asthma and/or claustrophobia.
      The steps to the top of the Colosseum are also steep but there are way fewer of them. Also it's not claustrophobic at all. The view is amazing but it's JUST a view of the Colosseum itself, not a panoramic city view.
      Here is my web page where I outline the best views in Rome. You will find some of the don't necessarily involve so many steps:

      @@RomewiseThank you! I just read your guide too. I have some time to decide what I want to do. I plan to visit both the Colosseum and St. Peter's anyway. I might just take the "worse" views from the Complesso Vittoriano.
      I climbed up the Scott Monument in Edinburgh 10 years ago and that was "only" 287 steps. I imagine the steps to the Dome are more or less similar. Do you take the same steps going up and down? Because that's always one of my main worries being a holdup for others.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 месяцев назад

      At Saint Peter's, the steps to climb the dome are one-directional. So you won't pass people going up or coming down. You go up the left side of the basilica and come down the right side. FYI regarding the Vittoriano, the views are amazing but just know that Piazza Venezia is undergoing a massive construction project due to last 10 years so that part of the view will not be so nice! @@katharina7921

    Hello Elyssa, thank you for your wonderful video and the valuable tips. I bought this ticket to visit Attico with my family in August, I am in doubt about how long we can stay on this visit to tiers 3,4 and 5. You mentioned that there is no guide to accompany us on the visit but that is only possible to stay for 30 minutes, I think it's not enough time to appreciate the whole place. Is there a security guard who will ask us to leave the place after 30 minutes? How will they know how long I've been visiting? Thanks!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  2 месяца назад

      The official time allowed up there is 30 minutes. But they don't stand over you and time you. We were up there for about 40 minutes and nothing happened. I doubt you will need much more than that as you can't walk all the way around. Your viewing and visiting area is restricted to one section of the Colosseum. So once you have been to the 5th tier and takes some photos, you'll be ready to head back down.
      Enjoy!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  21 час назад +1

      30 minutes is more than enough to visit the attico. It only takes up a small section of the Colosseum and doesn't go all the way around it. Also, the 4th tier isn't really much, just a stopping point on the way to the 5th tier. And once on the 5th tier, you won't spend long there, as you'll take the phots and video you want, and then head back down. There is not much else to do there.

    Why are they called FULL experience when you only get half? A FULL experience would be the entire Colosseum, with the arena, undeground, attic and the rest.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  Месяц назад

      Well maybe they should call them "FULLER experience tickets". I think the idea was that it's a more complete visit than visiting the main 2 levels of the Colosseum. This is a very popular question, because several years ago, it was possible to visit the underground AND the 3rd tier. But today, it's not possible to combine all these visits.
      Space in both the underground and the attico is very limited and visits are timed. The demand for these two visits is astronomical compared to the supply so it's a delicate balancing act for them to distribute tickets to one site by itself, let alone both. And there is no way for them to coordinate timed visits to these two areas for a given single ticket.

    Hi, thanks for the video.
    I have a question, maybe you can answer it.
    I booked the Full Experience Attic Ticket. So my question is where I should be at the given timeslot.
    Should I be at the entrance of the Colloseum or should I enter before and be at the elevator to the attic at the given time. If at the elevator, do you know how long it takes from the entrance to the elevator to the attic? Thanks :)

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  5 месяцев назад +1

      With the Full experience ticket, you should be at the elevator at the time of your ticket. It takes maybe 3-5 minutes to get to the elevator from the security entrance. I suggest arriving about half an hour prior to your appointment time.

However, as I've told other commenters, once you purchase THIS ticket and go inside, after your attic visit, you can head to the ticket booth and ask if it's possible to also visit the arena floor. Often there is space available at no additional charge. The underground is nearly impossible to book and I would not think you could just add it on this way, but with the arena floor, it's pretty possible!

      Thank you for the question. Mine exactly! We have tickets at 12:45pm January 15 to the full experience underground tour. (Elyssa - you are right . . . CoopCulture is not super intuitive). Wondering about adding on the top tier possibly or even a guided visit. The ticketing site does not make this easy. Will watch for the response!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  9 месяцев назад +2

      In answer to you both, at this time, there is no "combo" Full Experience ticket. There has been news that CoopCulture lost their concession and will be replaced by a different ticketing company this February. Even if there is a new concessionaire, that does not necessarily mean they will change what KINDS of tickets are offered. But we'll see. If/when that happens, of course, I will make a video about it.
      Meanwhile, I can suggest a few options:
      1. Consider purchasing both tickets. Each gives you a separate and very interesting perspective of the Colosseum. And both tickets come with a separate ONE-TIME entry to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, which is really not enough to see it all. By purchasing both tickets, you get TWO days to explore the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill.
      2. Consider purchasing the year pass for 50€ or 80€ for a family (my husband and I have the family pass so it's 40€ each and we got our money's worth within the first month.) With this pass, you get unlimited visits to the Colosseum and Roman Forum/Palatine Hill in a 365-day cycle (valid from the date of your first visit.) This free entry also includes the Full Experience tickets (but does not cover the night visits, although you get a small discount for those.)
      3. If you have limited time and don't want/need two days inside the Palatine Hill/Roman Forum, you can still buy the two tickets. I think 24€ is an excellent deal to visit these special areas of the Colosseum. OTOH, at that point, you might as well buy the year pass!

      The way it works is there is an elevator that takes you to the level between the 2nd and 3rd rings. From there you can climb stairs to the 32rd, 4th, and 5th tiers.
      So there is no "steps" option that take you to this attic level. An if they are selling tickets until 4pm, it must be working until that time.

    hello. Your channel is fantastic and is being the main source for planning my trip to Rome in June. Thanks for the valuable tips. If it's not too much trouble, could you ask a question? I noticed that there are two special full experiences tickets for the Coliseum, one that gives access to the underground/arena, regular parts of the Coliseum and another special, new ticket, that gives access to the attic. But there is no differentiated ticket that gives you access to both the underground and the attic. I wanted to know if it was possible for me to buy these two types of tickets separately, the underground one and the attic one, and right inside the Coliseum access these different parts in one visit. Obviously I would first have to be lucky enough to be able to buy these difficult tickets online and then think of a way to articulate their schedules. Do you think it is possible to do this? Thanks.

      Thank you for your kind words. First of all, there is no combo ticket for the various Full Experience tickets. Second of all, as of February 8, they are closing the attic for maintenance. They have not set a reopen date for that. So in you case, the default will be try to get tickets to either the underground+arena or just the arena. Have a great trip!

      No, they are separate tickets. However, after I made this video, they announced they would be suspending the attic visits from February 8 due to needed renovations. I hope they will reopen soon as it's such a wonderful visit!

    Hi Elyssa! How long do you need for the Attico experience? It says 1h 15 on site... would an 8.45am visit to the Attico, then 10.30am visit to the arena & underground work or be too tight? Would we have to come back out and go in again?
    Also, how easy is it to collect the membership card? If the tickrt office doesnt open until 9am, can we just show proof of purchase on our phone?
    Thank you in advance!

    • @Romewise

      Of the three Full Experience tickets, only one has a guide/escort - the underground. To visit either the attic or just the arena, you are mostly on your own except for being led there by a staff member. Once you are there, you usually get a sort of time frame and then have to leave that part of the monument.
      When you visit the arena, they tell you that you have about 20 minutes but honestly you don't need 20 minutes there. Then you leave the aarena and visit the rest of the colosseum at your own pace.
      For the attic, they told us 30 minutes but we took longer but it's more or less a guideline. Since only 8 visitors can go up every 30 minutes, it's unlikely to get crowded up there.
      So when they say that one of these visits is 1.5 hours, that's about the time it should take you in total. But visiting the other sections of the Colosseum is at your own pace and up to you.
      If you are booking the attic and underground separately, you will have plenty of time for these. I don't know if you have to exit and re-enter. For that, you should just ask a staff person once you are inside for the first visit.
      If you are doing both visits, yes, I recommend the membership card. It's 50€ for one person or 80€ for a family, so very much worth it. You fill out the form online and pick it up at the ticket booths in front of the Colosseum. You shouldn't have to wait in line. Just go up to the front and tell them you are picking up your card.
      Enjoy!

      It does not, however, I have recently discovered that once inside the Colosseum, you can take your ticket to the ticket booth inside, and ask them to give you access to the arena and if there is availability, they will do so!

      Sadly, not long after I shot this video, they announced they'd be closing the attic for maintenance until further notice. I hope they will reopen soon! In any case, they did not offer this as a combination ticket with the underground. It was either/or.
      Yes, a long time ago there was once a visit that included the underground, arena, and third tier (only.) Eventually they briefly opened the 4th and 5th tiers but closed them again not long after.

    Hi there, i love your videos!
    i am visiting the colosseum and i am having a difficult time understanding the tickets online. I am looking for a ticket that includes all 5 levels of the colosseum, the arena, the underground, Palentine hill, and the Roman forum. Which ticket do you recommend or will this be different tickets that i will have to book? Which i am fine with doing.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks for letting me know you enjoy my videos. Sorry but there is no combo ticket that includes the underground AND the attic.
      If you want to see both, you'll need to purchase two separate tickets. Each comes with entry to the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill and all the SUPER sites, so if you purchase two tickets, you'll have two separate days you can visit the Forum / Palatine and the SUPER sites, which in my opinion, is a better way to visit them, as you really need more than just a one-time visit there.

      @@Romewise thank you so much! Do you know if i am able to buy both tickets for the colosseum for the same time so i can just see it all at once?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 месяцев назад

      You could try, but I am not sure how practical that is. First of all, the tickets to the underground are really difficult to get, so you would want to get those first. But you could much more easily get tickets for just the arena without the underground. Then after you got those tickets, you'd have to try to get the attic tickets, but you'd have to figure out timing. The attic is not guided but you are supposed to stay there just 30 minutes, although we were able to stay longer. You could try to coordinate your tickets this way, but it will take some major planning and also luck with tickets.
      Ideally, they'd come up with a combo ticket, as that seems to be what a lot of people want, but for the moment, the only way to see these things is with separate tickets. Good luck!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  6 месяцев назад

      No, you'd need to schedule them at least an hour and a half apart. To take the elevator, you need to go at the time on your ticket. And for the underground, you need to go with a guide at the time on your ticket. @@natasharose902
