Oatcakes are designed to have a slab of cheese on them. Shortbread needs a cup of tea or coffee with it. Irn Bru is the Hangover champion liquid that's made fae Girders (it does have iron in it). Tunnock's Tea cakes and especially Caramel Wafers/logs are the daddy.

P.s. Don't ever refer to a Scottish person or any anything Scottish in front of an actual Scottish person as 'Scotch'. You'll get a 'Glasgow Kiss' for your trouble.

@@stevenconnor4221 I’d normally agree. (I’m English, but I’m a Munro bagger and spend a decent amount of time in Scotchland. 😉)
You can’t have it both ways something originating in Scotland is either Scottish or Scotch.
      To me Scotch means
to put a definite end to; crush; stamp out; foil: to scotch a rumor; to scotch a plan. to cut, gash, or score.
As in Scotch Whiskey. Crush. Not the area it’s from. To me a “Scotch Pie” means the way the meat is prepared. Not the region it comes from.

Irn Bru tastes like Irn Bru just like Coca-Cola tastes like Coca-Cola, it has its own flavour. Scotland is the only country in the world where Coca-Cola isn't the best selling soft drink, they've been trying to buy the recipe for years. Tunnocks Tea Cakes should be eaten in one go, and you have to decide wether you iron out the foil wrapper or roll it into a ball, it's the law.

There is small tunnocks bakery shop on the mainstreet that i done the windows for, one day Mr Tunnock actually walks in during the morning to get breakfast while i was cleaning the shop. I held the door open for him and was being nice to the staff so on his way out he shouted over to the women behind the counter "give the lad a box of teacakes". I sat and ate every single one of them on my lunchbreak that day. I got a box of teacakes from Mr Tunnock himself 😎

    FYI
The original recipe for Irn Bru was banned in the US in the late 80s because there was a secret ingredient that made the original Irn Bru have the unique taste that couldn't be copied but because A.G. Barr wouldn't disclose the full ingredients, the FDA banned it from the US. Such a shame because we can't even get the original anymore, Barrs have changed the recipe to allow for distribution to the likes of the US. Never add ice to your Irn Bru and it tastes best when chilled and straight from the bottle. I love seeing our Scottish products being tested by Americans, it was good to see you guys enjoyed what you tried 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

What is it with people recording dialog and keeping it to stereo sides?! PUT YOUR DIALOG IN MONO. It's really annoying if you're wearing headphones.
You gave them the driest thing in Scotland to start, with no drink, THEN Shortbread, with no tea, no whisky?! Shortbread (or ANY biscuit) with a cup of tea (2 sugars and whole milk), perfect break.
10:17 Barrs (makers of Irn Bru - Pronounced Iron Brew) also make a very nice American Cream Soda, Irn Bru is one of the only drinks I've had where the diet (Irn Bru Xtra) tastes exactly like the normal version.

Traditional Scottish cuisine follows the principle of trying to make something out of not very much, like other "peasant" cuisines from around the world. The issue with us is that we had even less to use in our dishes due to the terrain and climate. The Orkney islands, where those oatcakes originated from, those are very barren lands. But people have lived there for many thousands of years, surviving on what was available to them

I see many in the comments going on about cheese with oatcakes. While having cheese with them isn't wrong, and is actually quite good, especially with a good mature, you need to try oatcakes as suggested on the pack. Oatcakes with a chunky soup, in particular & especially, such as "Cullen Skink". A smoked fish & potato soup made with buttermilk! Any true Scot would tell you this!!

I’m from the village of Cullen, origin of said skink, and I can assure you no self respecting bowl of Cullen Skink contains buttermilk! Just plain old milk. Fishermen used to make it at sea with condensed milk as fresh milk wasn’t available but that is a truly minging taste experience as it’s sweet! Some restaurants do serve it with oatcakes though that’s a recent thing.
