They all feel like a disappointed father trying to lecture you into learning something. Ever watched the movie Whiplash? That was more or less my experience with music teachers over the years(minus the throwing of the chairs and smacking). My first teacher spoke calmly and attacked at insecurities, het intimidated people by just staring down at them and embarrassing them with their failures, my most recent teacher yells at you for the smallest mistake.
Its a stressful and loud environment so it completely makes sense, same thing with a kitchen.

The myth that all British food is bland partly comes from ww2 when we physically couldn’t get any spices, and afterwards whilst rationing and poverty continued. Except this road-side diner, the lady at the counter made me some grits and they were literally the best. Just plain with butter i think, sooo good, made me feel a lot better. The bread in the USA is weird, as are the crisps/chips, even the potatoes tasted strange with a strange texture, kinda smoky(like cigarettes) notes in the actual potatoes, and slightly chewy.
