Idk why kids buy the base civic then spend $8k worth of rims and any performance improvement they can when it’ll hurt its resale value. Or just buy a type R and not loose resale value.
Yeah I agree. Pointless to drop thousands in a basic Civic when you can just buy a higher spec and have a better car. Type-R holds such good value, anyone dropping $15k into an Si or other trim is just wasting money
@ mark up still? Every dealer within 300 miles of me is Msrp or lower. I luckily got my new ‘19 for $36k. Which is crazy cause that’s what the si basically costs now lol
Yeah the awful economy we've had the last 4 years ruined prices on everything. Hopefully things turn around now and we start to see a thriving economy like we had prior
$36,595 was the sticker on my cousin''s Type R. And throw that number in the inflation calculator and you get $$45,867. So the economy sucks, but the value proposition is around the same....
@lannym man I'm so mad about it, and I got fk7 back in 2019 it was cheap sort back then. I should've known inflation and dealerships would've make it $11,12,000 in the coming years. If id known I would've got a 2019 fk8 and still had it now
Type R with the integra damper module is the perfect daily/track car mix. Civic SI is also a great daily that’s fun in the corners. All depends on your budget and if you want heated seats. There’s no wrong option imo
Oh, I see they finally added the heated seats to the Si - that's new for 2025. That is the one luxury option I would have liked to see in my Type R....
Yeah I've heard good things about the damper mod. Definitely depends on budget since these are very different in price. But handling is in a new world with the Type-R. Crazy to see what they can do with this platform
Yeah they both have a lot to offer for the price. It's a big price difference so you'd expect a big performance and driving difference. Si is a great daily!
The wider fenders and spoiler on the type r just make it such a beautiful looking car. Ever since I seen it I’ve just been in loveeeee, I hope I can save up enough money to buy one of these puppies it’s currently my dream car. Great video showing off the two.
Is the shifter not exactly the same in both cars? I know the clutch pedal feels a little different, but I was under the impression. The shifter itself were identical on both cars.
Shifter feel is significantly different. Type-R is very notchy and has no play. The Si just feels like a more basic manual. These cars drives incredibly different
I test drive both Type R and Civic SI. Both cars are very slow, I drive Y Performance for family car. I went with Civic SI being a perfect daily. Gets good MPG. Just cant wait to install new head stud & head gasket after 36 months.
Yeah hard to compete with an EV like that. But the handling in the Type-R is where it shined. Do some aggressive mountain drives and it will be night and day. Si makes a god sporty daily tho
@@BrosFOURRSpeed i'm trying to relive my ef, h22 b18c1 years by getting an si. Hoping to upgrade to manual RWD mk5, m2, m3 or even mustang 5.0 sooner than later. Something almost as quick as my Tesla.

I upgraded from si to type r. Just 100% worth it if yoou can swing it. The si is really good. The type R is better in every way. I do think it would be better than just modding an si for another 100hp, too. There's more to it than just power. I don't know that you could mod an si with the 15k or so difference to be better than the type r. Equal to maybe but then there's the fact that a type r comes warranted like that and wouldn't have a drastic lowered reliability durability that the si would then hypothetically have.
Yeah I agree. Anyone putting $15k into the Si should just get a Type-R. Sure it will be fast. But speed isnt everything especially in a FWD platform. Also the Type-R holds really good value. A modified Si will be worth the same as a stock one. Stock for stock both are really good at their price tags
Can't complain about the si at all has the functions you need to get a-z 🏆 the car handling the only thing is to add on si is wheels suspension and just a little engine mods. Don't wanna add to much power and ruin the reliability more power the faster it wear out.
I had to downgrade from 21 type R to 25 Si due to purchasing a home and trying to be more financially responsible. They are not even close in comparison. HOWEVER, I’ve never had a bad or boring trip in the Si either. It’s probably the perfect “sportyish” commuter car. The 25 Si is very well rounded and will likely go down as one of the greats, 1.5 and all.
U sleep lmao my 1.5 has plenty of soul and the power is the easy part but before adding power to an underpowered FWD car it needs other supporting mods
@Jmarzx Sorry, I meant in stock fashion. I suppose the 1.5 could be more fun tbh, get to hit boost more often without being exposed to felony speeding when compared to the 2.0. Only test driven one once, but it seems like the 10th/11th Si could handle ~260hp without new brakes/suspension but IDK about cooling and whatnot.
