This video was recorded on the 16th November 2023, if you look at my previous upload before this one, (ruclips.net/video/mmuYYxj5NUA/видео.html) which was recorded more recently on the 6th december 2023 and uploaded on the same day, you'll see that i now have strap protectors since asking for them. Evidence of video files geolocation time and date can be found in this unlisted short. ruclips.net/user/shortsgMWWohUo22o?si=D4Bwhmdv4GqDYK2f You’re right though, it isn’t ideal which is why I doubled up on everything just in case one did break, and made sure I had protectors for the next time ☺️
Luke's building the tension at the end like an episode in a drama series, leaving us on a cliffhanger moment. If the next video doesnt start with an ominous voiceover saying "Previously, on Luke C in a HGV" with a recap, I'll be disappointed! 👍
Straps: You did the right thing imo. Without edge protectors It's also the minimum. I wouldn't have blamed you to put a 3rd on those high loads either tbh! Nice one Luke.
Excellent video Luke! Even if a touch muddy!! Years ago on my first day of a new driving job I had to unload on a muddy building site and got a brick caught between my rear wheels had to get a tyre company out, went down well with my boss! 😂
I love a couple of miles away from that building site, it's quite a big development. It's strange watching you drive the Roads I use on a regular basis and know so well. All the best Luke and thanks for your vids, I always enjoy them.
Oh Luke, I forgot another thing. When dealing with muddy sites, put a plastic bag on your boots so you track mud everywhere. then take it off when you are done.
Great vid as always, only criticism on the concrete section strapping,no edge protecters on the edges of everything, cast concrete has sharp edges and will eat through your straps. Also your putting the strap ends on the side rail of the trailer, dvsa will have you for that. Stay safe and keep them coming
I made that comment about giving your diesel engine sone cool off time and the turbo, in fairness and to be honest you made a very good point in response there Luke
Used to do the same thing in 80s and 90s. Nothing has changed building sites are all the same, and you got the hint on the ppaperwork BARRETT HOMES PHASE 3
That house builder is known for not putting the roads in first - looks like you were delivering to the subbie groundworker. No wheel wash and delivery route signs which is typical even though the Council asks for them! No tool box talk either. Some sites now have to put inflatable bags around the trailer being unloaded in case anyone falls off!
I'm a Class 2 Tipper Driver. I always find it odd when a local kicks of that you're driving a wagon down "their" country lane like they own the road and surrounding area. Yet they'll be the first too winge if bloody weight rose doesn't have the specific type of caviar they like because the wagon couldn't make it.
@ 32-01...do you think you could have driven another yard up onto the kerb, almost touching that mesh fence to make the left-hand turn that bit easier with that Ranger jutting out?.
Diner 51 is Leeming services not Wetherby Luke , so only about a hour from Hebburn .Barton truck stop is about 10 further north but its not as good for facilities though a favourite for your mate Trucker Jenko
Hi Luke. Great video. Interesting about the off load at building site. Engines. These days engine oil flows much easier therefore one can shut engine off as soon as stop. May be an idea to have another set of work boots, as especially as you stepped in puddle. !
I always used to keep a small towel or something by the seat incase of the mud that way if its muddy you can just put the towel down till your dry or less muddy
Happy Christmas and happy new year Luke c hope you have a wonderful coming year hope you are safe Nd well hope all of your family have a good one too hope your home for Xmas and new year love watching your RUclips videos send all of my best too all of the other truckers out there in the UK and abroad trucker Jenko from matthewduffin RUclips follower hull
Luke , I was always paranoid about a load moving in transit , hopefully it didn't Builders are notoriously crap at parking and just abandon their vans anywhere on a site
1.2t , not bad then - once dragged one out of a local pond ( kids had rolled it down from a building site and the houses were built and it was abandoned so i was having it lol ) with my Skoda Favorit 1.3 estate car . Put a bar in a hole and used a strap to the tow bar to move it up the bank a bit at a time , chocking it and swapping the bar to the next hole around . Cut it in half with a stihl saw to make 2 arches and trailered them into the local woods with a 1972 Lawnbug ride on mower ( still have it today cos it's built like a tank ) . Slid them down into the ditch ( more of a huff and puff drag really ) side by side and covered in a dry concrete mix to make a bridge for people out walking . Was there for 15 year's till the dicks in landrovers started rampaging through the woods and destroyed it cos they wanted a muddy ditch crossing to drive through ?. ...
Luke another great video, rookie mistake always carry rigger boots or wellies for sites like that, then they’re easily cleaned later and you still have clean boots for later on, this is learned through experience 😂
Have watched more than a few trucking videos recently and am getting tired of wet/windy/gloomy driving conditions. Would it be possible to change my matrix by nudging the time control forward by a few months, idk?😊
The load goes forward when you brake. An emergency braking situation would have those two tall loads on the back vulnerable. Two straps across the front,so it can't move forward. One over the load . Maybe one around the back. No such thing as overkill on strapping a load
Great video as always luke. On my stomping ground at wetherby word of warning it's a vosa hot spot them services. Also going to building sites just as they are starting is bloody horrible you get the common " don't worry driver it's solid to drive on" 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤔 solid for a van maybe but not a lorry it's not.
You lucky to park there when l pull just for a break never any room l work nights so a lot of places are full so happy l not have to park up for the night we not have night out keep safe
If you do Hebburn again you can park at Coneygarth (Diner 51) on A1 if you can get in, Easington Services A19 (shop open 24hrs), Newton Aycliffe Truck Stop on A167 Darlington, avoid Barton Park it's a mud bath, Pattinson Ind Est Washington, Durham Services has a 24hrs Maccys, or Team Valley Ind Est Gateshead and park on Dukesway if poss as there's a 24hr Maccy plus a chippy at the retail park as well as numerous food delivery places on there and if parked under lights estate security are watching your truck.
Luke: A small suggestion: there's no need to spend money EVERY SINGLE TIME your working gloves get wet. Buy some disposal gloves or medical gloves and wear that under your working gloves. So put the disposal/medical gloves on first, then your working gloves. That way, if they do get wet, your hands won't (besides sweat, can't prevent that) nor dirty.
@@lukecinahgv When I do my gardening or any dirty work, I use that idea. Works splendid. Just becareful that those gloves do tear if your doing some heay duty work but with the working gloves it shouldn't be a problem. You might get some water thru wrist but it's better than completely soaked hands.
Had it at Peterborough services in the overflow car park, Within 10 minutes of going for a shower at 5am was a foreign driver was about 10 seconds from catching the tosser glad i didnt....
I used to take artic's to building sites with the same sort of loads every day, what a pain in the a@@ they were. Mud and vans everywhere, no where to turn around.
you can never put too many straps on your load, I'd have used edge protectors on sharp edges. plus if you get pulled over DVSA will have a spooge puddle in their workwear because you took the time to go overboard
I know it's figure of speech but things like "get a break in" or "squeeze a break" piss me off. Breaks are there to be taken for YOUR benefit and there's already not enough of them without making them sound like an inconvenience
How many drivers do you hear saying "had a 15min while loading or tipping" that's either other work or POA🤔 always take a full 45min it's yours not your planner or your boss, after a full break ✌️👍 happy days 😜 then crack on again. I totally agree with you Simonbaker ! It's the driver who gets the load there ASAP if the customer gets a pod on if you're late tough ! Come on RayOLight we can't control the weather or road problems neither can we Time Travel . Drivers will never get a better going on unless we stick to the rules. FFS 15 and 13 HR days short breaks how much more can they take the p*?? Anyway take care muckers🤔👍✌️
@stibstabler4689 it's not just luke though is it, its an industry thing especially on general haulage. Look on trucknet or other forums and there's many drivers trying to work out how many shift they can fit into six days 🙄 glad I left it all behind and sacked off general haulage
Try wearing overalls over your shorts then you can take them off before entering the cab and then bags over the boots should cut down on the dirt inside
Can you make a video on driving hours please😑 I’ve passed my hgv- currently still in my old job so I’ve not had a hgv job yet. But I’m worried about the times and stuff, it’s so much to take in.
Ive been driving road trains in Australia for 24 years 2 3 amd 4 trailers for concrete id use chain's or if i needed to use straps I'd use cardboard on the edges because concrete will cut straps like butter. And i cant believe that you guy's have to pay to sleep in your own truck in a public truck stop
Great video. Quite frankly, I don't know how you put up with all the Neanderthal Range Rover drivers plus others who seem to just park anywhere having no regards that it is a construction site and heavy vehicles and equipment would be expected. 30 quid to park a truck overnight, what's that all about. In this neck of the woods not only can you park free, but use showers and have rest rooms.
For how many straps to use, with concrete pipes and stuff, you can't really have enough straps. You did well Luke🤣. Anyway, one thing you can do to stop getting dirty hands, is to wear throw-away blue gloves that we used during the pandemic, just put them on then your work gloves. There are some idiot drivers about. He certainly didn't want to move his vehicle when you were leaving the building site. He moved just enough for you to get out🙄
Regarding the strap issue....thats a big and heavy load...its your responsibility. So more straps..the merrier..if something was to fall off..the 💩 will hit the fan.
No edges under the straps poor show concrete cuts the straps in bits
Wonder what luke has to say lol

Absolutely Keith
Just a tip ! when you stop ratcheting, try for a couple more clicks just to make sure

Seeing a site like that gives an insight on what the workmanship will be like. Clean site good workmanship is the guide.
Excellent video Luke! Even if a touch muddy!! Years ago on my first day of a new driving job I had to unload on a muddy building site and got a brick caught between my rear wheels had to get a tyre company out, went down well with my boss! 😂

Super video as always Luke. Glad i don't do site work this time of year as the mud gets everywhere. Nice and clean merchant work for me. lol
Another great video thanks Luke ❤

My hometown, Hebburn. All they seem to do there is build more houses! Keeps you busy though, great vid 👍
You ought to get some gaiters for sites that are super muddy such as that building site where the concrete drain part were dropped

Does the company show you how to strap them ?
How do you get paking locations up on your satnav? I have the tomtom 6250 and i dont have that option
Another great video mate thank you
A very good Sunday evening to you sir
A very good Sunday evening luke from Alan in Lowestoft buddy 😊
You lucky to park there when l pull just for a break never any room l work nights so a lot of places are full so happy l not have to park up for the night we not have night out keep safe
I’m retiring in two week , you can have my strap protectors that I use when carry bricks and paving slabs
Always think about your Neighbors Luke ❤
what a right carry on over some mud.....were not gunnna make it!!! are we??

They are called rings and biscuits, used to haul the daily a long while back, definitely need protection for your straps,

Great video as always luke, try shaken udder milkshakes if you like a nice milkshake they definitely are nice
Another great video
3 things certain in life.. death, overspeed and people parking like mongs on building sites
i got my curtains cut twice at wetherby services...... great videos as always 👍
Had it at Peterborough services in the overflow car park, Within 10 minutes of going for a shower at 5am was a foreign driver was about 10 seconds from catching the tosser glad i didnt....
Maybe have differing footwear for cab and shyte holes??!!
The first 5 minutes was like watching The Count on Sesame Street.
Luke, when you do an overnighter in the truck, do you take your card out or do you leave it on break over night?
Better safe than sorry
Double strap definitely 👌
Thanks for the latest video.
I used to take artic's to building sites with the same sort of loads every day, what a pain in the a@@ they were. Mud and vans everywhere, no where to turn around.
Why not keep wellies in side locker for site work
Puddle probably full of kidney cider 😂
I'm with the Marquis de Sade on straps; the more the better.
Luke c l would stop on the M1 motor way scotch corner it would give you chance of some wonderful food and a toilet stop and a well deserved hot drink

that bridge is nick named spuggies bridge all the boy racers used to jump it in there cars,

Hi Luke muddy building sites are an absolute nightmare for me too especially the ones on hillsides and I drive a 3.5 tonne van .

Great vid as always, but are you really surprised that a building site is muddy in December ?
Nope 😂 technically it was November but still.
Not surprised
All them straps and not a edge protection to be seen. I'll be very surprised if your straps aren't frayed or cut.
So, you're not far from me, just outside York.
Not teaching you to suck eggs bruv. Bit you need to put protectoin on them straps. Them concrete chambers cut right though them
