I currently work at a preschool ages 2-5 and enjoy working with kids but have really thought about changing my major. A lot of people have mentioned that I might like it better if I worked with older kids maybe like 2 or 3rd grade but I’m unsure if I am completely ready to leave. I feel like if I were to leave I know I would definitely miss being in the classroom. No idea if any of this makes sense

Makes complete sense! I think you have a really good point. I know for me, the grade level really makes a huge difference. When I taught Kinder I didn’t enjoy it as much as I do the older grades. Loved that age, but it was tough for me. So that could be a factor and something to think about. Best of luck with whatever you decide 💙

There are no “pros” to teaching. Anyone delusional enough to be even considering this grotesque form of employment needs to seek professional counseling to determine the true source of these dysfunctional ideations. I wasted 8 years in the educational business culminating in being confined to a Benedictine abbey as a lay brother for one school year. It wasn’t pretty. I finally just walked out and signed up for barber college. Never looked back. People need to seek employment where there is minimal paperwork, no supervision of dysfunctional people such as school kids, and where you get paid for everything you do. Like in barbering where you can make in 10 minutes what the typical worker get in an hour. Busy barbers make upwards of $60 per hour. I know barbers with 8th grade educations who are ex-cons and who make more money than dentists. Teachers are suckers. And as PT Barnum observed “there’s a sucker born every minute”. Don’t be a sucker.
