Really helpful, honest and humble! I really like that you don't edit out how you learn along the way, it makes it really good to see that so gives me the confidence to give it a go too. Thanks so much.
This was so helpful my friend, you saved me thousands. I was able to pull motor out, that was sitting in greasy water. I sprayed it WD 40, cleaned it with fine brush, and dried it with my leaf blower. CAN'T BELIEVE IT, works faster, and better then ever..thanks so much 👍
Brilliant video/info, thanks for taking time to make this much appreciated from here in the UK, i got same problem with my roof but now you have given me confidence to give the repair a go myself.
Did you try it? if so, was it difficult and where did you get your part. The link he provided seems to be no longer available. Mine makes the sound that it is going back but doesnt. I think mine has gotten soaked with water.
@5:25 Nice video. One question - how did you pull the motor out without cutting the three zip ties including the one you cannot see at the back bottom of the motor?
I’ve finally relocated my motor to the trunk on left side behind taillight, I bought two 3 foot Hydraulic cables and all four lines fit perfect, I added wire to 12 volt line. Tucked it all upwards. However, I was able to take the Top off in 10min after doing that 7 times.
How did you relocate the motor inside the trunk? The last shot of the motor it was just hanging over the shelf bracket by the hydraulic lines. Did you put it back in the housing and mount it in the trunk somehow?
I think it would be harder to get a pump out like this which has never been disturbed - it’s also awkward doing it in the boot (trunk) like this. It’s a longer but easier (for pump handling purposes) and cleaner job taking the roof off. This is a great time-saving tip if the motor has been out before though. Anyway, I have an issue where my roof goes up and down when it’s out of the car but not when it’s fully fitted. The motor is the right way up, the sensor at the back is fine, the manual release lever is fine and the hydraulic lines are not obviously pinching. I’m at a total loss! If anybody has any other ideas, these would be much appreciated! Somebody has suggested that some of the electric wires might have snapped within the loom...
I need help! So I changed the motor but its not the motor what are the chanses is the converible folding top control unit? And also how much hydraulic oil should I put... Half ways the little container?
I was told the hydraulic fluid should be 3/4 full. Did you have to get the air out of your hydraulic lines? Mine is not working either and I'm curious.
Just did mine today struggled for about 2 hours used a small pri bar and eventually got the plastic top off with great deal of difficulty . Although after that motor was easy to pull out , cleaned it up dried it topped up fluid and left it hanging in boot works again 😃!!!! I'm not putting it back in it original place just need to fix it so it's not hanging on pipes and thrashing about
Lots of tape.....I used something to pry it up while I removed the tape....took a few minutes longer than I would have liked but with it being held up I was able to get the tape off and then the cap

So you simply cleaned the original motor? You did not buy the replacement?

Glad it helped
I was wondering if drying it was an option. Is it still working?
