This is seriously one of the best things to have ever happened in the history of the universe.
Ohhh! You're right!!! ✌🎼
Alessandra from Italy
AGREE.
😎👌
This is everything!
The dancer was hand picked ..
AND Eric Burdon, AND Ottis Redding AND Chris Farlowe? Can't handle them....
Eric Burden had the utmost respect for American R & B. I am sure he was truly digging performing with the "Big O".
One of his favorite artist
most British bands did, blues, soul ,Funny story when they came over to the states alot of places thought they were black, bands
@@thomasdearment3214The Brits were more "open" about their love of Black Music. In a Moody Blues Documentary it was the dream of every UK Group be like a Blues Band. Sometimes as a kid I would hear them and think they were black and was shocked to see they were white. Joe Cocker, Dusty Springfield, Van Morrison (Although He's Irish), Lisa Stansfield, and Joss Stone. The Brits, Scots & Irish have some of the most amazing blue eyed soul singers. Philadelphia too. Also the children of Sarah Dallin (Banarama) and Kym Marsh (Hear'Say) are following in their mother's footsteps.
@@laminage in London in the early to mid 60s the clubs were all about the blues scenes, and they emulated the sounds and style, as the 50s 60s progressed and the pop sound became the rock sound the clubs of London blues, pop, rock, soul all merged into separate sounds of rock, rock was an offshoot of country, blues, jazz and pop and out of that came soul the English youth and some American youths embraced it country turned its back on rock because it had a backbeat and to them it was considered the N word music corrupting our pure youth with a drum beat, funny now they are clamoring to get into the pop sound more today thank to Willy, Wailyn, Cash, Parton etc do you know the country rock band Birds were booed off the stage at the Opry we rocker embraced them, some as Kenny Rodgers duded up as the First Edition and sang crossovers What Condition My Conditions In of coarse anything by Cash got a listen to by us , all that was and is rock it encompasses many genera's of sound that's why it is more than rock, remembering a moment at the hall of fame Kieth inducting I think Muddy Waters saying he was the greatest with the rift and he should know he stole most of them from Waters, and if you close your eyes while listening to Cockers rendition of A Little Help from My Friends you would think a 70 year old black man not a 20 year old white guy now that is a tribute as most of the British do
God, this must be the best video in youtube
Get you a man that looks at you the way Eric Burdon looks at Otis Redding.
A lot of women would have given everything to have Eric look at them like that. Mind you, by the end of the jam Eric seemed to have switched his attention to dancing with his asigned go-go dancer. lol
Otis is so totally immersed in his music, I think he almost forgot there were two other greats on the stage waiting to sing a line or two. Guess Eric and Chris were so in awe of him it didn’t matter that much. What a great piece of film.
Yeah. Burdon does genuinely seem to be a little in awe of Otis, which is slightly odd, given that he was the first of the two to be properly famous. But then talent recognizes talent, above all. Feel sorry for Farlowe, whom Otis evidently forgets to let have his go solo. Either that or they'd fallen out!
Could of NOT said it BETTER!
Amazing show, and from the UK ! Love Sandy and the girls shaking it too.
Just play this clip at the halftime of the Super Bowl. It’s better than any junk today!
Its a very rare thing to see eric smiling in a video! 💎😍
It's lovely too. transforms him into a heart-throb. So many of The Animals' songs (which i adore) were about misery and suffering and such he always looked kind of sonbre. I wish there had been more light-hearted stuff like this because Eric shines here with that smile and those moves.
The drummer on this deserves a medal. As do they all really. What a stunning moment.
The drummer is Elbert "Woody" Woodson, and you are correct!
@@Apuleius_ Great to know thanks! Was this band Booker T. and the M.G.'s in some form?
@@rolfh They were a separate band. Booker T and the MGs didn't play live behind Otis until his European tour in 1967, a year after this show.
Apuleius Thank you 👍
This isn't even high-quality audio, yet that snare sounds like perfection, as does the rest of the kit. Obviously, it takes one hell of a great drummer to make that happen.
Farlowe and Burdon are really digging it
Can’t believe we’re watching this in late 2019 and still saying Wow! Eric was so cute and Otis had the moves. The gals were also great..
2021🎶💕
2022💜
2022 🎶💕🎶
And more years, I hope
My three heroes:
Eric Burdon😘
Otis Redding💙
Chris Farlowe❤
Seriously, Eric Burdon was the cutest one to come with the British Invasion and is still the cutest of the bunch in 2019!
Boy that’s the truth! Cute then, and cute now!
I agree ..I'm just so madly in love with Eric . He is DARLING!!!
@@kimperkins6144 It boggles my mind when some so-called experts say that Eric was 'homely'....perhaps they are basing that assessment on his very early appearances when he hadn't honed his style, because the dude I am watching in this video is so fine and charismatic...great moves too.
@@lechatel have u watched Eric's movie comeback? U can see it on RUclips. Omg ...such a baby doll. Then there's a live concert...he was in his 40s. I think he is mesmerizing.
Can you imagine being there in person? Wow
Ready Steady Go - the best music show ever. Compulsory viewing in the 1960's - a hundred times better than Top of the Pops. Thanks for uploading this - a brilliant video.
So much talent in one room.
One of the best things I've seen in my life.
That's a performance to supply enough power for New York and Seattle for a year.
Three out and out legends belting out raw soul and R&B
I have only just seen this and I'm blown away!
I'm 45 and genuinely think this is the single greatest thing I've ever seen.
51. same.
39 Dynamite!
Andrew Robins I'm 53 it's the dogs bolloxs
I agree
Fucking awesome ! And everyone looked really cool , great clothes, great hair, whew !
Otis and Eric burned the house down!
FIRE 🔥
O yes
Don't forget Chris!
And Chris Farlowe!
The sound dude gets a medal on this. The percussions were loud and clear. The percussions, as they should, drove the sound up and beyond.
What I enjoy about this is seeing Eric simply having fun and SMILING. Don't get me wrong, The Animals' music was great but there were an awful lot of chain-gangs, balls and chains, suffering and 'sin and misery' in those lyrics.Eric had to look suitably serious. This is illustrated by the fact that 'I'm Crying' was the most up-beat and light-hearted song they did on TV. This is a whole other side and that smile transforms him. He could and should have gone on to be a top top solo star. Had all the attributes...the voice, looks, the moves. Could sing anything.
You will never ever get musical magic like this ever again.
So True
why the pessimism lol
Every Human Gathering should Always be so Cool'n'Groovy like This One...
Eric has such natural talent!
Beside beeing an entertaining clip it is an cultural historic document. The spirit of '66.
22 and proud I found this. Seriously, need to bring this back to the music culture !
Dude check out Vintage Trouble and The Strypes
the look on E B's face was like "Wow so this is what a real soul band feels like"!!!
Right?? I love how Eric is in such awe of Otis, he's gobsmacked!
True
He looks so happy!
Yes
Love me some Otis and Eric. 😘😘❤️❤️🥰🥰😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely fucking brilliant. Eric Burden looked (still does) about 14!
Young Eric, watching, & learning from the Master....Very Cool!
Eric was the same age as Otis. And already had a string of hits and appearances behond him. Including, arguably one of the most iconic vocals of all time.
The combination of this clip is epic. First you have Eric Burdon of the Animal's fame and Chris Farlowe both great blued soul singers actually meeting with one of their idols the late and great Otis Redding, they cannot believe their luck then Otis in London being fully appreciated by the crowd ( a white , possibly cockney crowd) who are the true Mod's , a surprise as Mod's were a great and influential sub culture mixed with the skinhead culture, but more suave , Then you got those beautiful and fantastic dancers the Black ones really good looking and the white one Sandy Sarjeant a brilliant dancer of the Carnaby street , Kings Road Era of British music. And to top it all of an awesome band. It must of been such an experience to be there that time . Before "Stars" were so far out of reach from their fan base.
Sandy Sarjeant was married for awhile to Ian McLagan....some trivia
There is much more to Eric than being a 'blue-eyed soul' singer. He was already famous internationally having been number 1 in the states as well as the Uk and a string of hits. Could sing anything...rock, jazz, blues. Otis was a friend..not an 'idol'. Vicki the producer who booked the acts has said that it was Eric who persistently told her to book Otis and that he was basically responsible for her eventually going with that suggestion.
love seeing eric live when he was younger, what a lad!
This is everything. I've NEVER seen anything so fantastic..in my life!!!!!
This is by far the best video of all time.
What a killing ass band!!!!!!!
Loving it.The real talent.The fun.The musicians.The singing.Just party.....
DAMN ...OTIS HAS IMPECCABLE TIMING!!! NO one could keep up with him!!! such SOUL what a fine looking man too sad he left this earth far too soon.
Sixties British kids knew how to JAM!
How good was that!! Doesn't get any better.
Unbelievable energy! Red hot and rocking! Not much can touch this.
Yes I love it
This is the coolest thing I've seen on RUclips!
This video, and the performance therein, embodies everything that is good and right with the human race as a whole.
Dancing chick is a timetraveler...
To this day Otis Redding still owns "Shake".
Disagree - Sam Cooke owns Shake and always will.
@@thebadloser Otis put all his energy into that tune, especially at the Monterey Pop Festival.
It's exciting. Otis may have sped things up a bit too fast...hell, he was a runaway train. Sam
did things too nicely, as if his producer or record company wanted him to appeal to the masses.
Otis Redding shook the masses.
@@mitchgawlik1175 still respectfully disagree.
@@thebadloser Hey, we like what we like. I don't think either of us is in the wrong.
Keep rockin' in the free world.
@@mitchgawlik1175 And don't get me wrong Mitch - I love Otis - he was the first soul singer I ever got into and I tracked down pressings of most of his 60's output when I was a teenager in the early 80s. But after all these years I happen to think Sam was the daddy of them all. You've probably already done so but check out his work with the Soul Stirrers to hear him in the raw. He was Otis' idol.
Awesome-Eric is great blue eyed soul, but Otis will always be The Man.
ELVIS IS , WAS , AND WILL ALWAYS B THE REAL MAN , HANDS DOWN !!!!!!!!!!
Eric had as much soul as Otis why do you think they’re on your he same stage
Eric had the voice! He didn’t really need to shake..
Eric has green eyes…beautiful green eyes!
I can't fathom why you think Eric can be defined simply as 'blue-eyed soul'. he sang everything from jazz to R&B to rock and back again.
So good 😊
1:52 Watch everything here man it’s impeccable - I have no words, the sheer energy!
It's like they're on 'a MOD mission from God' in this Gospel Church-like frenzy. It is utterly soulful and uplifting, showing that music brings people together and transcends any perceived differences. Totally inspirational and just makes you want to dance 👊🏾✊🏾
They're just having more fun than humans should be allowed to have.
Incredible 🎶💕
This is by far one of the best vids I've ever seen. Too much awesomeness on stage. Phew!!

49 years gone today - damn, Otis was great and left us too soon. What a legacy he left
The best!
Rod Dunne I'm so grateful he was born in our generation and for his musical legacy!
These live shows now can't touch this kind of footage. They won't let fans rock with the stars like this. These women were really wicked in their dancing
Incredible piece of rock & soul history right there... God bless RSG, the ‘Weekend Starts Here’... them were the days alright!
Love Otis Redding ,but what makes Eric so particularly 🔥🔥🔥in this video. Whew💫⭐️🌟✨⚡️
There isn't anyone that could do this now..... no one.
So True
Amazing, three black men sharing the same stage on television in 1966. Bravo
Fabulous, place is full of Mods, cool stylish. RSG best ever, Otis, the business!
Man i sure wish we coulda Otis alot longer and Eric Burden and The Anumals were amazing
remember watching this as a young lad ......changed the way I thought about music ,,,,,,,,,it really did ready steady go ,,,,,,I was 10 years old
Eric was the only vocalist to be invited by Otis to perform with him on almost every single song from this television performance...the odd person who joined them (as Farlowe here) was just not in the same class...high praise indeed for Burdon
Farlowe was and is a brilliant singer in his own right.
@@ayrshireman1314 Absolutely. But, the 3rd best here. No shade cast on Chris. Apologies if it seems like I was.
Cheers
@@dougsmith7083 No apology needed, my friend.
It was actually Eric who persuaded Vicki Wickhan to book Otis for this special. Accoding to her, Eric had been telling her about Otis for some time. (He wasn't well known in the UK and Eric had an extensive knowledge of talent.)
Otis,Redding,and Farlowe !!!
What an exciting video! ❤️. Really gets my heart racing❤️ pure love for Eric & all the others in it.
The look on Eric burdon's face is priceless he's so damn happy and he sounds so good 8s that the great Al Jackson on drums.?

Those drums are so on point
Wow just wow...now I know where I'm going when I get that time machine working....Shake!!!!!
incredible version
48 years on, there is still no one to compare to the King of Soul.
I couldn't agree more. What is the stuff they call soul now ? With no soul in it.
I am in love with the dark-eyed beauty dancing next to Otis.
AH-MAY-ZING. Thank you for sharing this! So joyful and organic.
This ain't soul, this is HYPER soul!
Love that energy
You can't be cooler than this.
This is amazing and made me smile
Otis set the gold standard in soul music. There's no other sound quite like it. He was a one - off and I'm pretty sure it was quite a privilege to have experienced it.
Just amazing talents, even after 50+ years it still sounds the business
MAGIC!!!!! PURE MAGIC!!!!
Omfg. Two of the greatest on the same stage. Fucking awesome.
Don't forget Chris Farlowe. A great singer.
Otis was the best !
Credit to the dancers too!
Wow-eee! Great music, great band, especially the drums and bass. Otis is brilliant!
