HI! Oh, we really feel your concerns. We also worried a lot before going to Cape Town. I mean the Internet is full of bad stories and we were carrying expensive camera and drone and even in general worried about our own safety.
But to be honest, it was much much better what we expected.
The places like you saw in this video plus a few more from ours other videos (like Safari , wine tram, Hout Bay, Chapman's Peak, Table mountain, penguin beach and etc) they are on a bucket list of every visitor of Cape Town so you will see a LOT of other tourist in these places. So you won't feel dangerous at all. A lot of times we forgot where we were.
But not to risk a lot we tried to avoid being outside after the sunset (because then you don't see a lot of tourists outside and that's when you don't feel safe) and we rented the car, but if you are not going to do that than just use Uber and not random taxi.
Cape Town is a wonderful place and so so worth seeing. Don't let your fear stop you from going there, just keep regular precautions and you will love this place.
