For those wondering you have 2 common issues here. The first common issue is the buttons themselves. The second common issue is the clock spring(steering angle sensor). Chances are if you have an airbag light on with no cruise control then you’re needing a clock spring. If there’s no airbag light then chances are you need the buttons.
I have the same problem on my 13 Ram 2505.7 L hemi. It’s some type of loose wiring because all I had to do is hit the steering wheel right next to the controls and then it engages fine.
Probably another of a long list of recalls on these trucks. Mine is a 2015 2500 with 6.7l diesel engine. Thought it was a great truck but...sheesh! I've had intermittent failures with engaging the cruise control lately. First, it would intermittently turn on when I hit the On button. Then after tapping, slapping and pounding on the steering wheel it might turn on. Now it turns on and displays that the Cruise Control is ready. But I cant set the speed. It doesn't acknowledge the cancel option, either. I had a can of electronic connections cleaner spray. I sprayed directly on and in between the spaces of the buttons from the outside (with the truck off) without opening any part of the steering wheel. I pressed all of the cruise control buttons while the spray evaporated. Then started the truck. While in park I pressed the ON button and the Cruise Ready came right on. Still in park I pressed the SET button and heard the engine rev and saw the RPMs increase from idle to a slightly higher idle. Then I selected the +RES button and the engine revved higher with each press. When I pressed the -SET button the RPMs slowed. I assumed that this might have fixed this problem. This is just something I tried as a "maybe" first step. Next, will be replacing the cruise control switch (button cluster assembly) if it doesn't work.
Our 2012 Caravan has been doing this. Funny enough, we hit the steering wheel and it starts working again. Just another super cheap product Chrysler chose to install in it's vehicles.
How healthy is your battery. My 2017 had that happen and sometimes it would work and sometimes not. The battery eventually got too weak to start the truck so I replaced it. Never had that problem again.
Did you ever fix the problem? I just got a 2014 with exactly the same problem. I have 350 miles on it and it worked fine, then was having problems, but still turned on after several clicks and now nothing. Exactly as yours. It's going back to the dealer, but I was wondering if you had some insight on it.

You are a lifesaver
Mine is not working aswell and it does show the airbag light
Would it not have anything to do with your wheel sensors?
Give the button a karate chop. Works every time.
Truth. I have same problem with my 2018 Ram. Gave it a good slap and it miraculously started working again.
Literally just did that and it worked 😂😂
Had a similar issue on my work truck last year. Turns out it had a bad ABS module. It would cancel the cruise control intermittently.
I think you didn’t push it enough times, try another 50-75 more times… should still not work
Hell, my 2018 cruise doesn’t work and “cancel” selects the top gear and “gear +” selects a lower gear… 👻

Same problem on my 2016 2500. What I have done is tapped with my hand right on top of that part of the steering wheel and it goes to working
Yep. Just bought a 2015 1500 that I am doing same thing with and it works
I guess eventually we are going to have to replace that thing

Yep. Driving to Colorado same thing. Read this one and tapped steering wheel above buttons. Boom worked. 2014 ram 1500
@@cttsl what’s the latest? Did the problem return?

Jesus them trucks drink fuel like it’s free
My dad doesn’t have that problem but, he does have an issue where he cannot cancel out of cruise without hitting the brake
also same problem let me know if you got a fix mine is intermittent
Replace the button. Thats all it needs.
Has anyone figured out what is causing this problem? I'm having the same issue on my 2013 Grand Caravan.
Did you EVER get a solution???
Twelve fucking buttons and the only one I care about.same shit 2016 2500
