I am very glad for all this information but where is the GE engineers that should have a pre filter that's maintained so all the clogging doesn't occur downstream.... I bought a GE dishwasher and we don't dump bunch old food or not scrape off. 2 days later it's not draining!! Probably getting a new one replacement but I have to replace and drain my entire house pipes or it leaks on the floor. 😩
Good idea👍
If it wasn’t for your video I would’ve been placing an order for a new dishwasher.
I never thought I could have something creating a blockage at the black hose, right angle, since I had just replaced the pump 2 months ago.
Sure enough, I found a MASSIVE blockage that was preventing draining to occur.
Removed the blockage and now everything works. Thank you!
I
Awesome,
Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for this!!! I was able to fix our 2019 GE Adora all by myself with zero prior experience! There was a sizable piece of organic matter stuck there at the bend, just where your cherry pit was. I won’t lie, this was a pretty big pain to do myself, but I’m glad I did. Saves us at least $200 and having to hand wash dishes all weekend before calling appliance repair. And certainly not least is the feeling of personal accomplishment and empowerment! Thanks again!
Great job Erin😊😊😊
I was able to fix mine just by opening the vent. There was a nice clog right there. Pulled it out, drained the washer a bit to flush the line and it was fixed. Thank you Scott.

This also saved me a ton of money. My wife wanted to call someone and I used this video to fix it. I had some shard stuck in the hose so I had to replace the hose but works like a dream now. Thanks!!
Awesome,
Thank you 😊
Your videos are outstanding, most of my adult life i either remodeled or supervised remodeling of high end homes, the things the super rich put in their homes have never failed to amaze me. One of those items was a toilet with a built in exhaust fan, sent all odors into a tube and vented on the outside roof, cost 750 dollars plus installation,[electric] Thanks for going to the trouble of making and posting these valuable DIYS videos
You’re very welcome 😊
WOW! It was just as you said! I used a wire coat hanger to prod into the white drainer and a toy popped into the drain hose! Very easy fix.
Great job Brian😊😊😊
Thanks! Your guidance on the air gap clog was correct.
Thank you👍
Thank you! I had a completely different issue but with your guidance and 20 minutes of work, I was able to fix my dishwasher and save on calling in a repair person. I truly appreciate you!
Thanks so much Mike😊
My dishwasher wasn't draining. Came to YT for tips, and your vid was one of the vids that helped me figure out how to fix the problem. Thanks for posting!

Broken chopstick tip in my air gap. I love you. On mine I had to start a cycle let it run for 10 seconds. Then hold the start button again to cancel.
Now I have another use for this straightened coat hanger. Thanks for the tips
You are so welcome!😊
Same thing with mine, the air gap was clogged with debris. Cleared it and it works fine! Thanks for the video!
Awesome,
Thanks Bob😊
Just repaired our dishwasher!! Thank you so much!!
Awesome job, you’re welcome! 👍
Thank you! We are so happy to have been able to fix our dishwasher!!
Our pleasure!😊👍
I watched your video and now my wife thinks I’m a hero who knows how to fix things. Thank you for helping me commit very low level marital fraud. 🤣
You are a Hero 👍😊
This was a great help. I'm not finished yet, but I now know everything I need to know. There is no air gap on mine, but coffee grounds were getting into the drain tube from the disposal. I got them loosened and out with a hanger. I thought that all of the dishwasher's filters were pretty clean, but I poured some vinegar into the dishwasher drain, and about 8 lemon seeds floated to the top. I had already tried cleaning it with Q tips, so that was a big surprise. I didn't see them at all. I was hoping that I was done, so I ran a cycle and it didn't drain. I'm not looking forward to opening the pump tubes tomorrow, I'm expecting a really smelly mess. I'm sure that it's inside the pump. The drain tube is semi-transparent, so I could see the coffee grounds just outside of the disposal. I didn't see anything on the end of the tube coming out of the pump. Thanks for posting!!!
Nice job Guy😊
Thanks, very helpful video. Helped me figure out and fix the issue with my dishwasher
Air gap fixed mine took 2 minutes. Thanks so much

Fixed my dishwasher in less than 30 seconds watching this video. Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!😊👍
That's a great help, especially since I have the same dishwasher. I found a piece of clear plastic just inside the elbow of the drain off the dishwasher pump. It now drains the dishwasher very quickly. Thanks!
How did you get to that panel? You didn’t show us where that was. Thank you. I really like the format of the video and how you explain everything.

Excellent video. Solved my problem! You are AWESOME! 😊
Thanks so much 😊😊😊
Excellent video. Still trouble shooting my GE Profile which isn't draining. Is it possible to blow into the drain hose from the disposal point? I saw a video that demonstrated that. Thanks
There seems to be a check valve at the elbow that comes off the drain pump. You can blow into the hose from the pump side and get good airflow, but blowing in it from the other end lets almost no air through it. There was a small piece of scotch tape and a quarter inch plastic disc blocking the flow, but after removing these from in front of the check valve it drained perfectly.
Nice going😊
Air cap fixed my problem. There was very little debris which I was able to remove and let water gush out. Looks like it fixed it.
Very good,
Thank you👍
Same with mine!! Thank you
Great video. My Jenn Air won’t drain. I’ve checked everything but the drain tube from under the machine. Any pointers?
Question: Therer's black metal piece on front below the door that needs to be removed? In order to check the pump outlet for obstruction? Thanks for the video, and help
Thanks Mark,
Can you send a picture of that to Scottthefixitguy@yahoo.com
What is the name of the tool used in the video and where can it be purchased.
That did it! It was the air gap!! A black bean stuck in there! Thank you
Awesome,
Thank you
Ge Gdt645synf. This is my model and I have water sitting in the filter section and I do not know how to get it to drain, any suggestions.
I think the air gap is clogged up by the kitchen sink.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance interesting, now let me go find out how to clear an air gap
Great video, thanks! But what I find most interesting is that we have the exact dishwasher and that exact broken piece of trim. Thought maybe we mishandled it, but guess more likely a poor design choice by GE!
Yep, GE can definitely do better.
Same here lol
Everything GE is a poor design. And it's cheap chinesium junk!
GE and broken trim go hand in hand
Worked great thank you!
Thank you😊
Our sump was replaced, a rat had chewed it to shreds! Found a clog where drain tube enters garbage disposal, cleared that. Ran a cycle empty and dirty water ( it had previously had dirty water back up in it when our sink pipes stopped up) it went through full wash and rinse cycle but didn't drain again after the first amount after wash cycle. I can hear motor running but it won't drain all the way. Any advice?
What if you don't have an air gap?
You can remove the drain hose from the garbage disposal and make sure it’s clear👍
All you need is too remove the dw and give a little hit at the drain pump lol that was my case and it fixed it if it doesn't do it then you need to replace it
Nice job Chris👍
Fixed my dishwasher! Thank you!!
Thanks so much😊👍
This is great, but it screams to me to call a pro. I know my limitations. But this a great video for those who will call a pro so that we know the process. We won't be screwed by folks if we know what is supposed to happen during the cleaning/re4pair process.
Thanks so much,
But I bet you can do it yourself 👍
Ty you for your guidance
You’re welcome👍
Anyone else wondering about the air gap? I've worked on hundreds of dishwashers and have never seen one with an air gap 🤯
In California it’s code to install them
They get clogged a lot😬
Yes I was wondering the same thing. I'm in ny
Yeah I have no air gap. I just ordered a new drain pump but I wonder if that’s the problem. I cut the wires and tried to get it to spin with a battery but nothing.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance California is a joke. But you know that 🤣
We have them in Kentucky
Thank you!
You’re welcome 😊
Where’s the link to the air gap tool?
Here you are: amzn.to/32Dt4HX
Check to make sure the plug is knocked out of the garbage disposal if you replaced it 🎉
This whole time the garbage disposal still had the plug in it from the store.
Good advice 😊
Tremendously helpful. Thank you!
What if you don’t have an air gap on your counter? I don’t even know where it is. I have the same washer otherwise.
SAME!!😳😳
Yeah no air gap ...sooo ... ?¿ It's been backing up into my sink about 50% of the time but if it turn the dishwasher on it goes right down
Same problem
So the dishwasher drain hose drains/connects via the sink garbage disposal?..I'm having the same issue with my GE dishwasher but don't have an air gap on the sink
I try to do a drain cycle, I hold mine for 3 seconds but nothing happens, mine looks exactly like your model
Can you try disconnecting the drain line under the sink and putting it in a bucket to see if the water will drain out?
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance I replaced the whole drain line and water was in the line but there’s still a puddle in the dishwasher even after replacing the line
You're the man. Super in debth and to the point. Seriously great vid
Thanks so much John😊
If you have water coming out of the air gap, there is a clog between that and the disposal or sink drain pipe. Because the nipple going into the disposal is smaller inside than the hose, they often clog at that point. I would HIGHLY recommend turning the circuit breaker off before you disconnect any water lines behind and/or under the dishwasher!!!
Great info.
Thank you👍
Thank you so much you saved me from having to buy a new dish washer be blessed my friend
Glad I could help Danny😊
Mine doesn’t have an air gap 😫
I keep getting the FTD error
That’s failure to drain.
Can you remove the drain hose from the garbage disposal and put it in a bucket and set it to drain?
Try shaking the hose as it drains.
Air gap was my problem... Damn popcorn kernels!
Nice job John😊👍
Mine is older than thst
Were you able to fix it?
My dishwasher G dishwasher will not drain at the sump level all waters contained in the sump I have AGE monology DT645SSN3SS3SS try to start the drain cycle but nothing happens I held down the button for 3 seconds closed it and nothing's going on could you give me some advice I already looked on beneath identified all the parts for draining and filling with no movement whatsoever of water previously there was movement but waterwood background after cycle was over from the drain to the dishwasher in the plastic host thanks
Mic doesn't work will type. Water doesn't drain from sumb. All parts ID, fill and drain lines. I think there is too much plastic drain line and it snakes on bottom of cabinet it's not a direct line to drain line. You can see water and air back fill to Dishwasher...
Instead of that tool you can use a hard cable wire too
Good idea 👍
I have a GE dishwasher and it stopped draining , I pulled it out and checked the drain hose. and found nothing , and tried to run the dishwasher and it worked fine. It drained really well. That was about 2 months ago and now the same thing again. I have no air gap and never heard of an air gap. I had to google it to see what it was and it is code only is some areas. I can't access anything on the bottom of the dishwasher because there is a huge plastic piece on the bottom and I can't figure out how to remove it. It almost looks like it is hinged but I can't find any screws or bolts to take it off. I have to do this to get at all the motors, solenoids and pumps. I had my old dishwasher for 35 years and the only thing that ever broke was the water supply solenoid and I fixed that myself. It was as loud as a cement mixer though. I never cleaned any filter or lines in it ever, 35 years. I didn't know dishwashers had filters. My old one had a big enough pump to overcome any food stuff. I can't imagine why they would downsize the pumps and put in all sorts of filters and unnecessary ad hoc parts , that only break. My clothes washing machine does not have a filter, it has a bigger pump I guess.
So now I have a crappy dishwasher just over a year old and it is screwing up. What supreme garbage. why have a check valve to stop sink water? If it happens once in 10 years , you can shut the dishwasher off and clean up the water on the floor and then unclog your drain. I have been in my house for 39 years and the kitchen drain has never plugged up once. So I can delete the check valve and drain solenoid. Simplicity is the best. These add on bells and whistles cause more grief than some water on the floor once in 20 years, when and if your sink plugs up. Just put those little strainers in your sink from the dollar store and keep food out of the sink plumbing. I never had a garburator, My house in Florida has one and it keeps breaking. They are useless and break.
Isn't it funny how new appliances break so much more than older ones did? Seems like the manufacturers do it on purpose so you have to buy a new one more often or spend more money on parts....
That is not ease fix for housewife. What if I get electrocuted when I stick my hand underneath of the dishwasher m. 😩
Make sure you unplug it😂
Shop vac the water out after every cycle lol
Yikes😬
Keeping our wives thinking we're gods.
Gotta do that😂😂😂
You just saved me 1k . 🙏
That’s what I like to hear😊👍😊
Can you make a video of removing the filter
