I think the change from putting a timer on the speedrunner to steel soul had such a positive effect. It more effectively balances the offensive/defensive parts of both sides -- the hunters are forced to be aggressive since you'll win if you aren't hindered, but you still have to go after upgrades early game so that you're not outclassed by the end. And it adds stakes to any conflict, which makes evasion and stealth much more important.

Impossible for fire to win after claw they just have to split up one by one to get all the dreamers fire won’t have the time or necessary abilities to counter that unless you heavenly nerf the speed runners to one mask each at the beginning and with gaining each dreamers they gain a mask.👀✌🏻

If Fire could bench warp or maybe started with Crystal Dash or similar, and/or "killing a runner teleports all other runners to a random room" or similar, it could work.

The strategy would probably be to ambush them and try to pick one of them off at false knight, or hornet, or claw, or dream nail, or crystal dash, _or_ any of the dreamers if it gets to that point, and then track/chase down individual people when there's only a couple left (Now that I think about it, it's basically dead by daylight lol)
The potential of HK Superpowers is surprisingly vast even when you limit yourself to mostly charm-based powers with little to no modding required, which makes it quite fun to come up with some ideas-although there's still the issue of testing for balance purposes, of course. Examples of my own (with some missing weaknesses) include : • The Flash : Sprintmaster + Dashmaster (+ Shade Cloak and Sharp Shadow?) • The Grubmaster : Grubsong + Grubberfly's Elegy (Grub skin is a must, obviously :P) • The Striker : Longnail + Mark of Pride + Quick Slash (basically a mod-free Spammer) • The Nailmaster : reduced movement speed (including increased dash cooldown and such), but NMG + all three Nail Arts • The Tank : increased HP, but takes Heavy Blow knockback (could also potentially have Dreamshield?) I also recently saw a mod turning the Knight into a playable Radiance, with a modified moveset. That could make for a fun one-off...assuming it's even possible to balance properly :V

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that with both an invis and a no-clip they were able to track him for much longer periods of time which let the others keep playing aggressive? (at least for the moments when they knew where Fire was)
I just had an idea for a new potential superpower, one person who is muted in hunter vc, but can lifeline at any time, thus having the info but being unable to spread it And for balancing issues potentially slowing them down in some way could help with that

@@pichu7945 not by straight up chasing, but they can put consistent and constant pressure, it's actually kind of like how early humans could hunt by just constantly following. And while fireborn can outrun, any time he stops the hunter would just get closer, and he also can't really hide to escape so I think it would work quite well. It also doesn't need to be a super large speed decrease because even a slight one would be effective
I have another potential version. You know how in room rando you can get the arrows to guide you through transitions to certain rooms? What if that person just gets those? Every time the hunter changes rooms, it’ll update. It will always point towards the transition that’ll take them the closest to Fire. It’ll vanish if they reach the room Fire is in. I don’t know what, if anything, should be done balance wise.
The music choice is on point this time around! I think some of those recommendations from the community post paid off! (Assuming these songs were edited in after that post) I love knowing where a ton of these themes come from too, it’s so cool to see music from games I like showing up in these videos!

This series has been getting better and better as time goes on, and it already started out incredibly entertaining! The improvement is really showing here, with high edit quality and the excellent addition of picture-in-picture. And, I’m fairly certain this has been the case for a few videos, but I didn’t comment on those, so I might as well say here: The newer small “subtitles” for what you’re thinking/planning during the run are genuinely a fantastic upgrade over the original big textboxes, as small of a change as it is. Not to mention the incredible care and thought that’s been put into balancing all this, both the base modifications to the game/ruleset of Vesselhunt, and this extra-modded powerup variant. I hope you keep making these! They’re always a joy to watch, thank you all for putting so much time and effort into them.
here to gently advocate for either more time between lifelines or no lifelines at all. the old games w/o lifelines were great because you could outsmart and lose them so it added a lot of variety to the way it would play out. the hunters could never be 100% sure they knew what objectives you had left. with lifelines it leads to every game just being the hunters on your a** the entire time. we got a glimpse of that at 27:00 when you nearly managed to get crystal dash without them knowing but then they lifelined. especially with the superpowers that makes it easier to track you, lifelines just feel like overkill imo
They lost me several times in this game, and I already implemented rule changes which considerably scaled back hunter hints. I know there have been games where the hunters were on me the whole time, but I don't feel this was one of them. That was moreso a problem with the audio hints in previous games which aren't in this one. And was seeing me about to enter Peak bad for the game? It slipped their minds that I might take the literal intended route through the game, City > Peak, lol. They should have been able to roughly infer my relic count from the route I took (GP > Fungal > left side City) since they saw me at Shrumal Ogres from the left and at City Crest entrance. They should have been more worried about Lemm > Lantern. Since they weren't, I got through left side City, one of the more dangerous PVP zones for free. Without that lifeline, I'd get City for free, Peak for free, and could do whatever I wanted from there. Potentially clear Beast's Den or kill Uumuu for free. If I nabbed DN after, they might not even be covering it at that point. IMO, that's way too much of a snowball off of one silly mistake from the hunters. And to be clear, that is not me "big-braining" or "outplaying" them. That is me taking intended casual routes and passing through multiple areas unnoticed because they missed me one time. The old ruleset videos might superficially feel like hunters are being outplayed by a "gigabrain speedrunner", but generally I was just doing whatever I wanted because they had no choice but to camp dreamers, lol. I feel the novelty of the old ruleset would have definitely worn thin for viewers by now just because of the sheer amount of time hunters had to spend camping. Which was something that virtually everyone complained (rightly) about, by the way.

On reflection it probably just felt like they were on you constantly due to the editing understandably biasing towards showing the fights and cutting out the minutes you're all just wandering around. I guess to me the moments from the early videos where you are able to lose them stand out as highlights of those vids, but I get that that format would have settled into hunters having to camp and it growing stale. Either way these videos are great
This was one of the most fun episodes in this series ! This series is the best when it's pretty close. A few ideas for some more powers: - The Engineer: The ability to spawn an enemy. Specifically, I think the greenpath shooter plant might be a good option. (As if the hunter is placing down turrets) and the greepath flytrap. - The Aspid: Instead of healing, when focusing, does a primal aspid attack aimed at fireborn. (+ lower souls consumption on heal) - The Darkness: While healing, brings a darknest-like darkness to the room the hunter is in for fireborn. (+ deepfocus)
One of my favorite episodes so far! Having the invisible player AND the noclip player be able to keep tabs on you makes for a much more consistent engagement level, I think. Also 39:22 based Pseudoregalia bop

This run was so exciting to watch!! The powers, the jukes, the near- death comebacks?!?! Every Hunter was doing their THING and Fire was God Gaming as usual. There were so many hardcore moments, but I was thoroughly gagged at the ending!! This series never fails to disappoint. Much props to all the hunters, as well as the editors and modders! 🫶🏾

This was such a great match! It really showcased what a superpower speedrunning is, the way you managed to get out of trouble and survive many encounters with 1 life. I also like that you’re showing losses, it’s in some ways more interesting than when you succeed because that always ends the same way!
These kinds of videos are my favorite content by you. It'd be great to have ALL of you in the same voice server for some sessions for added chaos, but you do you :D
These matches are always the most fun when the hunter team is well coordinated. If everyone is communicating and playing to each other's strengths then there's less time where Fire is dashing around unchallenged and more PvP moments. Good job to everyone this time around! Too bad they pretty much lost track of him entirely after leaving crystal peaks the first time.
Aside from the incredible gameplay on both Fires and the hunters side: I honestly sometimes just turn on these videos in the background while i do other stuff, simply cause i love listening to the hunters. They are always so fun to listen to their working together, stratigizing and just hearing them having fun. ❤

That was a pretty good run, watching stink cloud get used and actually do something was pretty cool. Invisibility is pretty terrifying for a patient player too, the no clip change was quite good.

That was moreso a problem with the audio hints in previous games which aren't in this one.
And was seeing me about to enter Peak bad for the game? It slipped their minds that I might take the literal intended route through the game, City > Peak, lol. They should have been able to roughly infer my relic count from the route I took (GP > Fungal > left side City) since they saw me at Shrumal Ogres from the left and at City Crest entrance. They should have been more worried about Lemm > Lantern. Since they weren't, I got through left side City, one of the more dangerous PVP zones for free. Without that lifeline, I'd get City for free, Peak for free, and could do whatever I wanted from there. Potentially clear Beast's Den or kill Uumuu for free. If I nabbed DN after, they might not even be covering it at that point. IMO, that's way too much of a snowball off of one silly mistake from the hunters.
And to be clear, that is not me "big-braining" or "outplaying" them. That is me taking intended casual routes and passing through multiple areas unnoticed because they missed me one time. The old ruleset videos might superficially feel like hunters are being outplayed by a "gigabrain speedrunner", but generally I was just doing whatever I wanted because they had no choice but to camp dreamers, lol. I feel the novelty of the old ruleset would have definitely worn thin for viewers by now just because of the sheer amount of time hunters had to spend camping. Which was something that virtually everyone complained (rightly) about, by the way.
@@fireb0rn fair enough. Still, it would be cool to see hunters rely on strategic placement, critical thinking, an analyzation of audio cues to find you though.
@@fireb0rn appreciate the full reply, I'm sorry if I came off as more aggro than intended in my initial comment. On reflection it probably just felt like they were on you constantly due to the editing understandably biasing towards showing the fights and cutting out the minutes you're all just wandering around. I guess to me the moments from the early videos where you are able to lose them stand out as highlights of those vids, but I get that that format would have settled into hunters having to camp and it growing stale. Either way these videos are great

This series is the best when it's pretty close.
A few ideas for some more powers:
- The Engineer: The ability to spawn an enemy. Specifically, I think the greenpath shooter plant might be a good option. (As if the hunter is placing down turrets) and the greepath flytrap.
- The Aspid: Instead of healing, when focusing, does a primal aspid attack aimed at fireborn. (+ lower souls consumption on heal)
- The Darkness: While healing, brings a darknest-like darkness to the room the hunter is in for fireborn. (+ deepfocus)
One of my favorite episodes so far! Having the invisible player AND the noclip player be able to keep tabs on you makes for a much more consistent engagement level, I think.

This run was so exciting to watch!! The powers, the jukes, the near- death comebacks?!?! Every Hunter was doing their THING and Fire was God Gaming as usual. There were so many hardcore moments, but I was thoroughly gagged at the ending!! This series never fails to disappoint. Much props to all the hunters, as well as the editors and modders! 🫶🏾

Ohhh all new music! Loving the inclusion of Metroid Dread for the music. Might be worth adjusting the volume levels during the exciting chase/boss sequences as it can be a strain to hear the hunters dialogue. Love the new edits with hunter POV

This could be fun except for the part where Fire fairly consistently wins when four are all working together and sharing all their info, splitting the competition would only work in his favor. There would need to be some other factor at play, like maybe Fire has to do True Ending or something.

This was such a great match! It really showcased what a superpower speedrunning is, the way you managed to get out of trouble and survive many encounters with 1 life. I also like that you’re showing losses, it’s in some ways more interesting than when you succeed because that always ends the same way!

These matches are always the most fun when the hunter team is well coordinated. If everyone is communicating and playing to each other's strengths then there's less time where Fire is dashing around unchallenged and more PvP moments. Good job to everyone this time around! Too bad they pretty much lost track of him entirely after leaving crystal peaks the first time.

That was a pretty good run, watching stink cloud get used and actually do something was pretty cool. Invisibility is pretty terrifying for a patient player too, the no clip change was quite good.
