Hi friends ! 😇❤️ While I appreciate everyone’s concern, I just wanted to address the majority of the comments below. Although my trainer was being harsh on me, I do feel it was absolutely necessary. The way that I was riding Bayley was making her extremely stressed out, and the situation just kept getting worse and worse. If I didn’t get off, things could have gotten bad making a terrible experience for Bayley and of course me. I didn’t take it personally anything that she said, I know that everything she says, she says with love aha We have a great relationship and we are often sarcastic with each other, my feelings weren’t hurt by anything that she said. I took her criticism constructively and understood that she’s only trying to help me and Bayley, and make me a stronger rider. Sometimes tough love is exactly what you need, and while everybody is different, tough love works really great on me. Getting off is what I needed to calm down. Seeing her ride Bayley and get a relaxed trot out of Bayley is exactly what I needed. I know it seems like she took Bayley from me for the whole lesson, but really she was only on for 10 minutes out of an hour long lesson. Regardless, being able to see her do exactly what she was telling me helped immensely. I am very much a visual learner, I was having a hard time fixing my riding without seeing how to do it properly, let alone I was much too tense and panicked to be able to do it while still in the saddle in that moment. After watching her ride Bayley and have some time to relax I was able to copy exactly what she was doing and fix the way I was riding. Although everybody is different and her teaching style may not work for everyone, I thrive under it. In the end I was able to ride Bayley properly and we worked really well together. My trainer wouldn’t put me in a situation where she didn’t believe I was ready or could handle it. Thank you all for your support!! I love you all 🥰🫶🏻
I absolutely love this trailer. She is not blaming the horse or calling for a stronger bit. Getting you off and showing you how to change this and then empowering you to do the same. Could she have been a bit softer? I think at first she was, but she stopped it before it became dangerous. Did it rock you and leave you feeling uncomfortable? Yes, but I think the unbalanced ride also did the same. I love that you are sharing this and letting us see how your seat, even with a good ride (yes you) can affect the outcome of our ride. I have ridden horses for 40 plus years. I completely get this just makes me older not a better rider nor a trainer. My true education is with dogs and training. I find everything I learn loops back into itself. With dogs, my mood, my breathing, my body language and my timing can change everything.for me filming me train a dog let's me see what I am really doing vs what I think I am doing. I have an amazing Morgan that is so very easy and gentle. He also can have a fast walk and so I am riding in a round pin in a bitless bridle.(We also go for long lazy walks and yes he leave in a pasture with other horses) I work on changing him with my body movement and breathing. Can it be frustrating, heck yes, but when you can get a trot by simply thinking it and changing parts and getting a relaxed trot, it is amazing. For me I try to do too much at once and this is dialing me back.
Girl, no, no, no... your trainer is actually an ass. She hadn't even RIDDEN Bailey before putting you on her, knowing she is young, green, and inexperienced. Huge red flags. She is setting you and Bailey up for failure. She was insulting you, and telling you you're a bad rider. "You should be able to do this by now.", "Don't worry, I'm not Clara.", comments like these are huge red flags. I agree with her showing you how to ride Bailey... but the manner she did it in was just AWFUL. You deserve better.
You should be so proud of yourself for getting back in the saddle. Trainers HAVE TO BE tough, this is a thousand pound creature, there is no time for sugar coating things. You did a great job and really absorbed what the trainer was saying as well as what Bailey needed
“The amount of time that your riding, you should be able to do this by now” NO NO NO NO NOOOOOO! We all have days where riding is more difficult for us than usual, what she said could completely RUIN a riders confidence that was NOT ok.
I'm a trainer and an instructor and this in not how to teach a student telling them to just "get off" or "I'm not Clara " is going to break confidence and show them to be scared of doing something wrong. The correct way to teach is to tell the student step-by-step how to fix what there doing wrong, this instructor only taught her to do it right when she was on. You did amazing job Clara keep going.
it is 100% your trainers fault. it is the TRAINERS job to find a suitable horse. I’m sorry she was so mean :( your trainer knows you are not a professional rider and she shouldn’t expect you to ride a PARTIALLY UNTRAINED horse well. i’m so sorry :(
I dont think it was that bad tbh. this was a challenging horse, but its not untrained and it wasnt a bad decision either. having a bit more experience in riding before riding this horse might have been nice but I dont think it was too soon. by riding this horse she found out that she needs to work on her balance, her breathing and her posture. riding an experienced horse that wouldnt respond to those tiny little things might have kept her from finding out what to work on. like I said in a different comment, the words might come off as mean at times, but if you listen to the instructors tone of voice, you can hear it's actually really calm and reassuring. she doesnt intend to be mean at all, she's just communicating in a calm and clear way, trying to help clara stay calm and focus on herself rather than freaking out which would make the horse freak out. I know that nowadays people are all about emotions and validating emotions etc etc. however in horse riding, it isnt the best place for that. yes emotions should be acknowledged, but horses can feel our emotions and as theyre prey animals, bad emotions can quickly cause a horse to run. it's important to be able to control your emotions and focus on facts when riding, because if you dont and your horse is a bit tense, you'll get more and more tense and therefore end up in a downward spiral, likely resulting in your horse running off and you falling off. so instead of being like ''its okay to be scared, the horse is acting up but its fine'' etc and with that putting more attention on the emotions and therefore making them bigger than neccesarry, the instructor is focusing on the facts. ''take deep breaths, slow posting, shes going faster because you're going too fast'', those are all facts. I didnt hear one word from the instructor that was intended to be mean or disencouraging or anything negative. just stating facts, trying to help guide in how to improve things and to calm things down.
@@genevievearchbaker8604she shouldn't be on a horse like that until her balance and breathing and body control are solid on a schoolmaster- it does no one any favors when you put a rider on a horse outside of their current abilities...
That coach was deffo off!! “Im NoT cLaRa” “GeT oFf” and dw my trainers had to ride my horse to settle em down many times (its not great but they do it less rude) !! Hopefully the next trainer is better
the words can come off rude but if you hear her tone of voice you can tell it's not meant to be rude. ''get off'' was just a short sentence, which is better than a long sentence like ''alright, just come over here and please get off the horse, I would like to ride it for a bit to help things settle down''. clara was tense, and when people get tense they wont hear things as well as they would otherwise. so a simple and calm ''get off'' is easier to understand in that situation than a long sentence. as for the ''Im not clara'', in that moment she was talking to the horse just to keep herself calm. she was telling the horse to stay calm and that she isnt clara, to convince herself that the horse will calm down and not act out like they did with clara because she's riding now, which will calm herself down, which then calms down the horse. long story short: she was just saying that to calm herself down, not to be mean :)
@@genevievearchbaker8604 which her saying “I’m not Clara” it wasn’t her trying to “calm herself down” because if the trainer wasn’t calm would you want Clara to get on and say “Its ok,im not *insert trainer name*” like bfr.
your instructor is so meannn! omg you were doing fine it’s hard! i rode one for the first time yesterday and i was having such a hard time but you aren’t even doing bad.. she is really harsh
The trainer wansnt being mean you know she just want Clara to learn and sometimes you have to let other people have you get of sit and show you and when she got back on she did great so I don’t get what you mean
Fr im not clara but if my instructor said that to me when i ride the little speedy bouncy pony i would argue with them lol like im sorry that my seat isnt perfect and this pony speeds up because thats just how his strides are
Ikrrr! I remember riding a ottb for the first time and my trainer wasn’t just like “if your doing bad, your riding wrong.” Like they would just tell me what I’m doing wrong and teach me how to not do it.
girl you’re better than me i would’ve been in tears so many times for this lesson lol. loved to see your improvement throughout though, even if the way your trainer came across was a bit harsh. she’s obviously just trying to help but it’s a good thing you have such a calm personality!
Nothing is more humbling than watching your trainer ride your horse to perfection. 😅 We’ve all been there! You’re doing great. Riding a green horse is definitely challenging and not something they would have asked of you if they didn’t think you could handle it. Chin up, you’re doing great!
Yeah, I don't mind tough teaching if it's constructive, but some of those comments were lowkey nasty and not useful. That's how you totally trash a rider's confidence 🫤
Yes I agree saying that Clara is not a good rider and and she is ruining the horse and Clara trying to explain why she’s having trouble and the instructor just throwing her off I feel bad Clara has prolly never ridden a green horse and I feel her I ride a lesson pony that goes super duper fast but I’ve been riding him for awhile now (8 weeks) and I’m just figuring out how to control him Clara your not a bad rider I believen you❤
New to your channel, am an AA rider as well, and have been loving the vlogs so far. But completely agree with the other commenters who are disapproving of how your instructor not only handled the situation, but also put you on a green horse in the first place. It’s not always easy or comfortable to do (especially in a group lesson), but we need to try to advocate for ourselves when we’re put in situations and pressured to do things outside of our (and the horse’s) appropriate skill set.
I really think that your trainer should be nicer at the beginning. You're still learning, doing amazing job, but riding green horses isn't easy at all! How old is Bailey?
If you think u learn from softness nope my trainer tryed being soft with me and I did not learn well I learned when she was more firm because when trainers are soft you tend to not do things it’s like if a lead horse is nice at first the other horse will try to get away with stuff
The trainer was kinda rude in the beginning like saying “But she doesn’t have a fast frantic trot.”and “don’t worry I’m riding you not Clara.” Like you’re an amazing rider but I feel like a green horse should be ridden by a more experienced person.
I don't approve of your instructor's way of teaching. Your were given a horse that should have been for a much much more advanced rider. Given that the instructor could have taught you in a more positive light instead of telling you ""GET OFF "! It is clear that she is a good rider. I'm hoping she will in the future use those quality skills in her teaching. Also would it be possible to PIVO segments of your lessons? With the go Pro it only gives one view. PIVO would be enjoyable to watch both you and the horse.
girl dont let your instructor speak to you like that. I know she's coaching, but there are nicer ways to say you are not ready for a horse. She shouldn't have said "GET OFF" and then remind you that you can ride that horse. Not everyone needs to be rushed.... take your time girl and dont care what she says because shes putting you on all kinds of horses, which makes it hard for you to bond with one.... good job Clara! Keep going!!!
I rode for 5 years before I rode a relatively green horse. I think it was slightly unfair of your trainer to be rude about you not doing the right thing. Riding green horses is hard! I think you did very well. I probably would have cried if an instructor was this blunt and rude to me.
@@TheProsecuter_26 Your opinion is valid! I probably am more sensitive than the average person. However, I still think a GOOD trainer should be able to “fix” a situation while being kind and understanding about it.
@@Ava_Kirby i kind of agree she couldve been a little nicer about it but in that moment if she had been all soft about it she may have not gotten her point across fast enough to prevent something bad from happening, she probably was only thinking "whats the quickest way i can fix this" without thinking about sugarcoating her words to not potentially hurt her feelings
Yes same I'm currently riding a greenish horse who had been out of work for a year and ìm just taking it slow last week wasn't a great lesson she wasn't feeling it so I didn't rush her so we only jumped x poles then the past few other weeks she jumped amazingly it depends on how she's feeling she's still a decent age but can be lazy so u just want to give her positive reinforcement so every lesson or if she's done something good I pat her I gxve her lots of pats last week cause she did amazingly I'm not going to be mad at her when she's not feeling if
Riding green horses especially green OTTBS is hard! (Depending on the horse). My first horse (and still current horse) was 5 when I first got her and I was only 11. It’s hard but they teach you so much and it’s so rewarding seeing the effort you put in them pay off!
As a horse rider my self I do a couple trotts but it's slow and fast and I kinda just pull on the reins and slow her down!! ❤ Love horses and I even ride them!! ❤
Just want to send you some love - I've been on the receiving end of harsh criticism from a trainer. While she gave you good advice, I do wish she had been kinder in her delivery. She's also wrong - it is often difficult to ride a green OTTB! I know exactly what you mean by the fast frantic trot, and it's very different from riding a lesson horse. I hope you won't be too hard on yourself after this lesson and that you're still able to take away the good things. Also, well done on jumping her after how the lesson started! You really improved!
(Only at 6:27 as of now) I own a Five Year old OTTB, Green as heck, I trailer out to Lessons and my second Lesson there was alot going on and he ended up freaking out, (which ended with me falling 🙃 dw I am completely fine, he stopped and backed up to give me space :D) the best way to help keep a Green OTTB, or maybe any Green horse, is to keep your Leg on, and stay calm. My guy looks toward me for alot of stuff, but sometimes he is a super confident Horse and does some stuff on his own. But you are handling the Mare so well! Tiny edit (afterthought) ; The reason why it’s best to keep your Leg on, (what my Trainer said) is because it’s like a Weighted Blanket to a Horse!
Right! This trainer was mean my trainer does tell me to get off sometimes but nicely like yesterday I had a lesson and my trainer said:”here get off real quick let me see what I’M teaching you wrong” much nicer than this trainer should’ve been
You did so good Clara!! I find it helpful when you can watch your trainers ride because then you can get a better understanding of what to do! For your first time riding a green OTTB you did wonderful!!! I’m currently riding a green quarter horse mare who is very stubborn and she does bolt if you’re not paying attention to her in the canter! I’ve only just started riding her but she is very sweet! She has turned me into a mares girl! I’ve always been a geldings girl!! You have had so many fun opportunities to ride new horses!! You have been doing so so well!! I can’t wait until you look back at this video and see how far you have come!! When I look back at your first few videos the improvement I see is just amazing!! You are going to do wonderfully when you start doing even harder things Clara!! Keep going with this sport! You are doing amazing!!! Keep up the incredible work Clara!! ♥️🫶🏼
Looks like today was not your day, but EVERYONE HAS THOSE DAYS! And you’ll learn from today and I know your next riding lesson is gonna be FANTASTIC!!! Stay safe queen love youu❤❤❤❤❤
I couldn't ride with that instructor. After decades of taking and teaching lessons, this video triggered me. LOL. She was fine when she was explaining from on top of Bailey, but the way she treated you before that was so uncalled for and she offered nothing constructive. Seriously, she's blaming you for how the mare is reacting? Yes, it is usually the rider, but your instructor was straight up rude. She had never ridden the mare yet she decided it would be good for you to ride her? Granted she became more helpful later on, but the way she treated you at the beginning was ridiculous. I'm glad you finished strong. Good for you!
Honestly Clara this is why I love your videos! I’ve been watching you since the start and we’ve always been at a similar point in our riding journeys, even down to the time we started. Earlier this week I had this same lesson on a hotter TB, except I didn’t end up fixing my issue. This was so helpful for me to see the same mistakes and corrections that my instructor was trying to make put into action. Having an outside perspective of someone in a similar situation always makes it easier, so I thank you for that. Hopefully I have an easier time whenever I ride him again, and I hope that for you and Bailey as well 💕
She was happy and calm about the trainer because she was mean for her to learn not to be rude but to teach her the comments below you guys should have seen she just wanted to teach her the right way it’s obviously because she wants her to be best at what she does. Also love your videos clara really teached me more of controlling a horse.❤
Even though your teacher was pretty rude in the beginning.. like that was so rude she was being so passive aggressive. She was giving good compliments and keeping calm, and trying to keep you calm! I feel like that’s great 💗. My trainer never gives me compliments she just keep pushing and pushing, and she only compliments the horse, I get that the horse is doing a good job but I’m also training it to, like can I at least get a, “Good job!”, while I’m riding, but although your trainer was being mean in the start of it, you are lucky to have a trainer that compliments, and keeps you calm ☺️.
The fact the trainer said get off to her and got on her to show “what’s she needs to do” is just what…! Like if u haven’t ridden the horse before she might be totally different to how you were expecting, and some of us all have beginner days!! Nobody is perfect at riding, I honestly think that trainer shouldn’t be a trainer. If anyone wants to know the part I saw this it’s 7:44
Exactly, and the comment “I have to get her settled because of what you’ve done.” She needs to learn how to correct and teach without being so cruel about it. Yes, trainers need to be tough, but I don’t know why this one was so needlessly harsh.
Beautiful improvement in one lesson Clara. I think a lot of us have had that experience of riding a step up horse. You'll go from a lesson horse that knows its job no matter what you do, to a horse that needs you to to work with them. The horse I ride, Addie, she knows her job very well however if I am not working hard to support her and having her conform to the ride or the rhythm I want, she will try to take over. It's important to stay super relaxed in your arms on horses like this. It took me a long time to learn Addie but she has taught me so much more than any of the other horses I've ridden. One of the things your trainer was saying was learning how to ride with your arms, legs, and hips independent of one another, that is something that is hard to learn on a seasoned lesson horse, it takes a horse like this to teach you that.
Okay! These are my absolute FAVORITE types of horses! Fast green mares that are ready to kick ass. I really think Bayley is the type of horse that would feel most comfortable with her head long and low. Next time try and ride with long hands, make your hands almost touch your knees and gently squeeze the reins like you’re ringing out a sponge. I think she would be golden. If you have any other questions about horses like her feel free to ask! I’ve ridden so many
This ride had so many moments I would be in tears at times so you did well x ❤ good work Clara and don't let this lesson destroy you 💕 your instructor was very harsh today but it still helped you because some times getting schooled like that helps, I'm so so proud of you ❤ Edit: The pinne comment really opened my eyes realising that we all work differently an I'm so happy it helped you!!!
It’s ok to not have the perfect ride all the time those are days where you learn new things and learn new skills. I had a hard time with my old lease horse Jackson where I got too stressed from his non stop bucking and I had many people at the barn telling me to switch cause I was getting too stressed and a lot of anxiety attacks. You can have bad rides cause that’s how you learn hope you learned new things during your ride ❤
Without horses i feel same than you, even going to store or outside of home i feel always so annoyed or scared. Sadly i can't afford riding, even it help me alot. School is horrible for me, I haven't had any friends or anyone in the last 5 years, and it sucks that i cant be with horses.
Omg! I love Bailey! She looks so cute! I feel like she could definitely be a good horse when she gets more miles on her! I also think she would make a great horse for you in the near future! You are a great rider and hope you have a fun time continuing your riding journey!!! ❤❤
‘The amount of time you’ve been riding, you should be able to do this by now.” That’s not right. All riders have bad days and the trainer is being overly harsh and unfair. You should treat any student with respect and kindness. There’s a difference between strictness and being plain rude. In my opinion, you did pretty well on her, considering she’s green. And you did say that she was described as a fast, anxious ride, so you actually did very good, considering all of that. And its completely ridiculous how rude she was being to you. Saying that ‘I’m not Clara, don’t worry’ That’s just plain rude. Trainers are there to make you feel good, and to be kind to you. It was also unfair that they just threw you into the deep end and made you ride a fast, green horse. It’s very difficult to ride a green horse, and she handled it wrong. She could have taught you nicely, and calmly. I know you think you deserved that, but don’t be so hard on yourself, You did very, very, VERY well. Her job as a trainer is to find a SUITABLE HORSE FOR YOU. This is 100% her fault. She must get herself together and treat you like a human being as well.
Although at first the instructor was harsh and some of the things she said that were aimed at you were not needed, it ended up looking like a really lovely lesson and she does seem like a very helpful and beneficial instructor. You clearly made an improvement after she had shown you :-)
I feel like everyone is overreacting about the trainer… the trainer really helped her out! She was a bit mean at first but if I was Clara I would be thankful she was honest because I would’ve never known. But anyways bruh don’t focus on the trainer focus on Clara and enjoy her riding!! Very cool
I absolutely adore you and your channel Clara, but I don’t really agree with the way your instructor handled this. I don’t think you were advanced enough for Bailey, and the way your instructor talked to you was just not it. You were honestly just kinda thrown in with no preparation and that’s not fair to you. Hope you have a nice next few rides!
my trainer would’ve given me a leader, it’s a person who stays b the horse and holds their bridle/reins if your too inexperienced to do it alone yet. I’m getting there but I’m no where near good enough to ride a green horse,
Oh my gosh, I used to own an OTTB, he was my first horse. (Big mistake lol) I could not handle him at all, he was just so so much horse, way too athletic for me. I wish I had researched more but you know... you live and you learn, right? We ended up giving him back to the people who sold him to us because he was too much for us. Probably wont be getting another horse for at least a few years after our bad experience. (He wasn't at all a bad horse, he was a total sweetheart, but just way too green, and such a hard keeper too.)
The fact that her trainer said to Clara that she is the one making her fast and frantic, then procedes to say that she has never ridden the horse, is wild to me. I realize trainers can see things we can't see or feel really till we learn to, but you have to ride and be with a horse before teaching a person on them. I am a student trainor, and that was one of the first things that my trainer, that I am shadowing, said to me.
I don’t like how your trainer was harsh with you but she was kind and funny and didn’t like shout at you and you are absolutely correct with what you said the trainer is correct so for everyone saying the trainer “can’t even ride that horse” or “she is saying the wrong thing” is incorrect so she and you are absolutely right❤
this reminds me of the one time at my old barn, i was put on a WESTERN horse in an English barn, I ride english and therefore my aids are more leg and hands and not voice, and he was also green, and my coach behaved this way with me, but didn’t bother getting on and showing me, i ended up falling off that night and left the barn shaking :’) but you did great! i probably wouldn’t have been able to do this!
Guys the trainer is trying help her u can the girl was stressed she rode her to help Clara so stop “omg she was so mean”or”u we’re doing fine she’s so mean”like guys u can the horse might of reared or bucked her off if she didn’t get off of her
i own a green 4 yo gelding and its hard to ride him correctly but it wont work but soon i got used to him and now its alr. i hope u will ride her her more so u can get more expirience. U ride very nice actually
Your trainer was HORRIBLE to you!! telling you to “get off” and then riding Bailey for like half the lesson that’s YOU paid for and were meant to ride in.
Kinda rude ??? She was 100% out of line !!! Not a professional horse trainer whatsoever!!!! I would NOT have took being talked to like that with silence !!!!!
hii i’ve been watching your channel for quite some time and i love your content. but i think they way your trainer addressed this situation was completely unfair. it’s clear you have not ridden lots of green horses which is totally fine, but for your trainer to put you on a horse you have no experience on (especially without telling you how to ride her) is a very unfair situation if she’s going to get mad and say things like “i have to settle her from what you’ve done” and “don’t worry i’m not clara” is a very unprofessional way to go about this. you are a paying customer and you did not ask to be put on this horse. obviously this is going to affect some riders different from others but that is not good way to treat someone who is still learning and mess either their confidence in a very toxic sport. i think this situation was in no way a reflection of your riding and i find you ride very well ❤
The condescending way your instructor was talking to you? That’s insane…hope you’re okay; being belittled like that is typically the start of anxiety and pressure about not feeling good enough. Sometimes a horse and a rider just clash in a bad way, that’s why people with a horse that matches them typically learn much faster.
This is my horse stable. I’m absolutely shocked That my trainer is like this. I’ve been going here for over a year. Come to think of it, she’s always had this rude attitude. I’m sorry this happened Clara. And now my entire thought about my trainer has changed. Wow..
This reminds me.. the second horse I ever rode (first horse I rode was at lessons) I was sooo bad at riding and a absolute noobie and I rode a hot headed green ottb😅
@Zer0thekitty I'm from a generation where teachers called us idiots and our parents wacked us when we were being brats. What this lady said was honest. She was a bit harsh but not that harsh. There are times when you just have to suck it up in life. Honestly, when you are riding a horse, you can be killed if you are doing things to annoy it, like pulling on its mouth and plonking down hard in the saddle. There's no time to be polite about it. As one person said, the horse isn't really ready to be in that environment. Didn't you hear the instructor lay on the praise when Clara mastered the movement?
In my riding school almost all of the horses are just like Belly and they get ridden by absolute beginners , I don’t know if this is right or not because it causes very dangerous accidents every time we ride , and by the way I really like your coach she is so skilled… don’t listen to people who keep saying that she is mean because she is not , that’s my opinion as a horse rider from Algeria where riding is very tough and frustrating.
7:58 this was so mean saying “it’s ok I’m not Clare” you are one of the best riders Ik Idk why your trainer is being mean to you that day she was on your horse for like half of the lesson like that’s so mean tbh also how dose your GoPro hold? Like with a strap?❤ps I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AND YOUR RIDING❤❤❤
I have a gopro and yes, it holds with a strap, or atleast mine does. It wraps from the start of the gopro which is at the top and then it goes down, it just holds I think lol.
i don’t approve of this instructor why would she give you a green horse you couldn’t handle and was like “see i’m not clara” like she’s acting like your a bad rider and saying “you should be able to do this by now” and “GET OFF” like wtf that’s rude as hell
I think it's perfectly acceptable for a trainer to get on once in awhile, but this instructor didn't need to be so freakin' rude and demeaning about it. Clara did a great job working through it.
Her trainer is not mean or rude. She’s tough and constructive. Clara is riding a green thoroughbred as a novice rider. This is a dangerous sport and bad things can happen quickly to the horse or rider and her instructor being tough in that moment and calling her out is going to help put in perspective how important changing a few things can improve your ride/way of riding and make the experience more enjoyable for both Clara and Bailey. Some of you seem to have missed how much praise she gave Clara when it clicked and when she understood what parts of her body and brain to use and engage. Clara as shown is very capable of riding this horse but it is new and she has to adjust to it like her instructor said “this is real riding” most horses are not going to be perfect little unicorns and as Clara progresses in her riding she’s gonna need to learn how to ride more difficult horses. If she keeps riding little unicorn ponies she’s not gonna get any better at really riding. Clara I think this is going to be really good for you, you are going to learn an entirely different side to riding horses and you will notice your progress speeding up very quickly if you continue to ride more difficult horses. I’m obviously not saying go hop on the hottest horse in the barn but horses that are just out of your comfort zone are really going to benefit you. I’ve been following along on your riding journey and it’s been so fun watching you get better and learn new things. I’ve been riding for 8 years and love it with everything in me. Don’t loose your passion for these animals even if it gets tough and you feel like nothing is going well. There is always bad before good as you experienced during your ride on Bailey. Your going to come so far. Good luck!
After that “ trainer “ was being nasty and mad she was making good sense but I would NOT take how she was talking at first if that were me ! IF your a professional you had a situation like a professional REGARDLESS on how you feel !!!!! The rider knew she was riding wrong and just needed guidance not to be scolded in front of people !!! I would have fired that “ trainer “ immediately!!!!!
Hey, OTTB rehab/retrain pro here, the people in the comments are absolutely right, and it’s one thing I do see a lot of, OTTBs are not lesson horse material and it was really irresponsible of your trainer to buy the horse for anything but a project to go to an advanced rider. OTTBs need one singular consistent rider with their trauma. I’ve seen them go to the Olympics but I’d never put one in a lesson program, I understand they are incredibly cheap, but it’s irresponsible. Another thing that I saw was that the arenas you are riding in are way too small for large group lessons, and have some unsafe equipment in them, if Bayley got out of control, it could cost her her life. A third thing that is very irresponsible is to have you cantering and jumping this horse that you could barely ride at the trot. You did get better but needed a lot more work before you were ready as seen with the canter outs. Bayley was not a good fit for you and your trainer really should have swapped you. I don’t know how long your lessons are total but more than one hour would be way too much for a horse that looks just OT.
the way i would absolutely mouth off to that trainer T-T like okay we get it, no need to keep dragging it out. what annoys me aswell is how everyones cutting everyone up and how it looks like youve been riding for ages, so correct me if im wrong because im not trying to be that person at all! it just looks like all of you were riding for hours doing a whole lot of trot
Clara i hope you understand that instructers shouldn’t be that blunt about things you may be doing wrong, not saying that your instructor is bad but a better instructor would kindly explain why your horse is acting odd and tell you what you can do to improve your horses mindset and make the situation better for the both if you.
You never want to pull straight back on the reins, you could either circle w/ outside half halt,or small half halts on both sides-switching back and forth or together. Never pull straight back on the horse’s reins 10:42
I had the same experience, and i do the same thing with faster horses like that. I get so nervous and post very fast, just like you. I could feel the nerves coming from the video. Wednesday im riding a tb for the 2nd time, and she's a sweet girl, but she kinda makes me nervous, but i just have to try to be calm😭 i was nervous when you cantered like i was the one riding
The trainer was rude, but I honestly think she needed it, or else I’m 90% sure that Clara would’ve fallen of. It’s good that Clara got off at the start, I’m sure it was a good learning experience in general 😊
@@RidewithClara ahh okay i understand
Girl, no, no, no... your trainer is actually an ass. She hadn't even RIDDEN Bailey before putting you on her, knowing she is young, green, and inexperienced. Huge red flags. She is setting you and Bailey up for failure. She was insulting you, and telling you you're a bad rider. "You should be able to do this by now.", "Don't worry, I'm not Clara.", comments like these are huge red flags. I agree with her showing you how to ride Bailey... but the manner she did it in was just AWFUL. You deserve better.
@@RidewithClara ah, I understand stand tho she was harsh 🤗
You should be so proud of yourself for getting back in the saddle. Trainers HAVE TO BE tough, this is a thousand pound creature, there is no time for sugar coating things. You did a great job and really absorbed what the trainer was saying as well as what Bailey needed
“The amount of time that your riding, you should be able to do this by now”
NO NO NO NO NOOOOOO! We all have days where riding is more difficult for us than usual, what she said could completely RUIN a riders confidence that was NOT ok.
Fr,she was so rude and was like “so you are making her trot frantic and fast not her.” As she says: “I’ve actually never ridden her before 😙”
Fr
I know that was kinda mean
fr like the trainer should know that
“I’m not Clara don’t worry” bro I find it easier that trainers when they are nice the students get a good time and learn even more lol
But also instructors can be harsh sometimes 😅 I remember my trainer was a bit harsh when i lost my confidence but it pushed me 💪
Exactly that instructor was terrible
I cant believe she said that to Clara..... what kind of instructor would say that.... you can tell shes full of herself
the words can come off rude but if you hear her tone of voice you can tell it's not meant to be rude.
@@genevievearchbaker8604 which her saying “I’m not Clara” it wasn’t her trying to “calm herself down” because if the trainer wasn’t calm would you want Clara to get on and say “Its ok,im not *insert trainer name*” like bfr.
the fact that the trainer has never ridden her and is scolding her is crazy 100% !!! U are totally a good rider and she was just being rude

I wouldn’t let my train talk to me like that. Or I would quit that place I came here too ride not you ride not offence❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nothing is more humbling than watching your trainer ride your horse to perfection. 😅
We’ve all been there! You’re doing great. Riding a green horse is definitely challenging and not something they would have asked of you if they didn’t think you could handle it. Chin up, you’re doing great!
Am i the only one who thinks the riding instructure is a little mean at the start...
Fr
She was
I agree 👍
You need to be pinned 💀
I really think that your trainer should be nicer at the beginning. You're still learning, doing amazing job, but riding green horses isn't easy at all!
How old is Bailey?
If you think u learn from softness nope my trainer tryed being soft with me and I did not learn well I learned when she was more firm because when trainers are soft you tend to not do things it’s like if a lead horse is nice at first the other horse will try to get away with stuff
@@KaylaEdits-Eq You can be firm but still polite. She wasn't.
The trainer was kinda rude in the beginning like saying “But she doesn’t have a fast frantic trot.”and “don’t worry I’m riding you not Clara.” Like you’re an amazing rider but I feel like a green horse should be ridden by a more experienced person.
shes just riding a green horse to learn more and have a new experience to improve as a rider
ok i just re watched the part and yeah her trainer was being a little rude nvm
I don't approve of your instructor's way of teaching. Your were given a horse that should have been for a much much more advanced rider. Given that the instructor could have taught you in a more positive light instead of telling you ""GET OFF "! It is clear that she is a good rider. I'm hoping she will in the future use those quality skills in her teaching. Also would it be possible to PIVO segments of your lessons? With the go Pro it only gives one view. PIVO would be enjoyable to watch both you and the horse.
Same here my trainer tells me what to fix then if I don’t or can’t she’ll hop on my horse or another horses and show me

girl dont let your instructor speak to you like that. I rode for 5 years before I rode a relatively green horse. I think it was slightly unfair of your trainer to be rude about you not doing the right thing. Riding green horses is hard! I think you did very well. I probably would have cried if an instructor was this blunt and rude to me.
you are very sensitive then, this trainer really wasnt that mean, crying over a trainer foreseeing a bad situation and fixing it is crazy

Still be flying around the arena. Great job!
Love horses and I even ride them!!
That is a very mean trainer I would have bean in tears if she did that to me ! You have such a calm personality!❤

I love how nice and kind u are to the horses❤they definitely feel safe around u!
I love how Peanut was following you 💛
omg i smiled the second i saw the notification!! can’t wait to watch :)

I’ve ridden so many
This ride had so many moments I would be in tears at times so you did well x ❤ good work Clara and don't let this lesson destroy you 💕 your instructor was very harsh today but it still helped you because some times getting schooled like that helps, I'm so so proud of you ❤
Edit: The pinne comment really opened my eyes realising that we all work differently an I'm so happy it helped you!!!

Aww Bailey is so adorable and she is green too I can’t wait for more videos and your riding is so beautiful
She must get herself together and treat you like a human being as well.

my trainer would’ve given me a leader, it’s a person who stays b the horse and holds their bridle/reins if your too inexperienced to do it alone yet. I’m getting there but I’m no where near good enough to ride a green horse,
“I’m not Clara don’t worry” what sick words coming out of an instructor…
I don’t like how your trainer was harsh with you but she was kind and funny and didn’t like shout at you and you are absolutely correct with what you said the trainer is correct so for everyone saying the trainer “can’t even ride that horse” or “she is saying the wrong thing” is incorrect so she and you are absolutely right❤

this reminds me of the one time at my old barn, i was put on a WESTERN horse in an English barn, I ride english and therefore my aids are more leg and hands and not voice, and he was also green, and my coach behaved this way with me, but didn’t bother getting on and showing me, i ended up falling off that night and left the barn shaking :’)
but you did great! i probably wouldn’t have been able to do this!
Guys the trainer is trying help her u can the girl was stressed she rode her to help Clara so stop “omg she was so mean”or”u we’re doing fine she’s so mean”like guys u can the horse might of reared or bucked her off if she didn’t get off of her
OMGGG UNDER 33 MINUTES PLEASE SEE THIS I LOVE YOUR VIDOES
i own a green 4 yo gelding and its hard to ride him correctly but it wont work but soon i got used to him and now its alr. i hope u will ride her her more so u can get more expirience. U ride very nice actually
Can’t wait to watch this vid
Man the riding instructor was mean to you like thats not ok😢 hope she is nicer to you in the Future bc you are a REALLY good and Talented rider❤
You can definitely tell the difference between when she first trotted and after the instructor helped her
Your trainer was HORRIBLE to you!! telling you to “get off” and then riding Bailey for like half the lesson that’s YOU paid for and were meant to ride in.
Kinda rude ??? She was 100% out of line !!! Not a professional horse trainer whatsoever!!!! I would NOT have took being talked to like that with silence !!!!!
hii i’ve been watching your channel for quite some time and i love your content. but i think they way your trainer addressed this situation was completely unfair. it’s clear you have not ridden lots of green horses which is totally fine, but for your trainer to put you on a horse you have no experience on (especially without telling you how to ride her) is a very unfair situation if she’s going to get mad and say things like “i have to settle her from what you’ve done” and “don’t worry i’m not clara” is a very unprofessional way to go about this. you are a paying customer and you did not ask to be put on this horse. obviously this is going to affect some riders different from others but that is not good way to treat someone who is still learning and mess either their confidence in a very toxic sport. i think this situation was in no way a reflection of your riding and i find you ride very well ❤
A little shocked your instructor had you jumping this lesson tbh, not cool of her.
The way the horse was angered and scared from the trainer

That was really good. Your instructor was very helpful for you to level up.
Rewatch the video, the instructor is disgusting in words
@@Zer0thekitty I don't think it's that bad
@@Krinsta1 bru did you not hear the instructor? She used a gross choice of words
Didn't you hear the instructor lay on the praise when Clara mastered the movement?
your mare is adorable
I get excited when you ride new or green horses
In my riding school almost all of the horses are just like Belly and they get ridden by absolute beginners , I don’t know if this is right or not because it causes very dangerous accidents every time we ride , and by the way I really like your coach she is so skilled… don’t listen to people who keep saying that she is mean because she is not , that’s my opinion as a horse rider from Algeria where riding is very tough and frustrating.
7:58 this was so mean saying “it’s ok I’m not Clare” you are one of the best riders Ik
Idk why your trainer is being mean to you that day she was on your horse for like half of the lesson like that’s so mean tbh also how dose your GoPro hold?
Like with a strap?❤ps I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AND YOUR RIDING❤❤❤
So true
I have a gopro and yes, it holds with a strap, or atleast mine does. It wraps from the start of the gopro which is at the top and then it goes down, it just holds I think lol.
@@awh_wearythank you so much I don’t have a strap yet but I have the GoPro thank you❤
@@Lilyequestrain of course!!
i don’t approve of this instructor why would she give you a green horse you couldn’t handle and was like “see i’m not clara” like she’s acting like your a bad rider and saying “you should be able to do this by now” and “GET OFF” like wtf that’s rude as hell
I think it's perfectly acceptable for a trainer to get on once in awhile, but this instructor didn't need to be so freakin' rude and demeaning about it. Clara did a great job working through it.
@@augustday5912 she shouldn’t be like this at all
Exactly if that were me I would NOT have been silent and words would’ve been spoken and perhaps other things !!!!!

Clara said in the video that she didn’t know what she was doing wrong and didn’t know she was riding wrong
Your instructor was so rude at 8:04 !
Omg Clara! My name is Bailey too!!!!
“I have to get her settled for what you’ve done “ nope!
The amount of rude disrespectful things her trainer said to her is insane!
The trainer was rude, but I honestly think she needed it, or else I’m 90% sure that Clara would’ve fallen of. It’s good that Clara got off at the start, I’m sure it was a good learning experience in general 😊
